I was wrong about Trump

I recently wrote a column about why I believed Trump should not run in 2024. I was wrong. I allowed my distaste for Trump’s personality to override his virtues, which are considerable. Some people want Trump without his vices. I was among them -- until yesterday, when I watched and listened to Tom Klingenstein’s speech titled “Trump’s virtues.” It was masterful and shamed me that I did not make the distinction between Trump's character and his virtues, the former being deeply flawed, the latter being almost perfect. I need to man up in my defense of the former President's virtues.

Trump means what he says and does what he means. If he becomes 47, the Deep State will be in Deep DooDoo.

I think he should stop the ad hominum attacks (head shaped like a watermelon??), name calling and the vulgar profanity; none of which add anything positive to the political discourse. The latter two are the lowest form of disagreement and add to the coarsening of our already coarse culture. He can and should take the high road in his public speeches. It will encourage other public speakers and be an example for our kids to do the same.

“This enumeration of Trump’s virtues does not fully capture his uncommon courage and firmness of purpose. Trump is the most towering political figure in living memory… Trump inspired a movement. If properly deployed this movement might challenge the woke-comms, and God willing, save the country.”
Amen!
A Must Read, share and pray harder… for such a time as this.

#4, Trump says what we're thinking and he won't hesitate to attack those who hurl insults and slanders him and his family. Whereas Pres. G. Bush took it all in and received lots of flacks from the GOPs and conservatives for not hitting back. Trump is at his best when he's not reined in and allowed to fight for the people to MAGA!

Regarding Mr. Trump, you see in him and have seen, what a Rush Presidency would be like, and there is nothing bad about that.

When was the last time someone from the left began a comment about Obama with, "He's not perfect..."? Or Bill Clinton? (who was idolized by many of the men on the left -- nudge nudge, wink wink) Or Biden? Or even Kamala President Trump is the only person I know of who gets this treatment by people on the right.
Do you think President Trump is the only one who occasionally says a four letter word? In fact, Democratic presidential candidates can’t stop swearing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxVG5dNK8cQ

Typo in #10. It should be "Or even Kamala? President Trump is the only person I know of who gets this treatment by people on the right."

It's simple, Mathews. You decided to drink the kool aid. Too much time on fakebook and tweeter. And the msm had gotten to you. Not sure what your problem with Trump was because everybody in politics have similar type A personalities. I had said right here on L.Com in 2016 that the first republican candidate who effectively neuters the msm during the 2016 campaign will be the next president of the United States. So a pop quiz, Mathews, Q - which republican candidate effectively neutered the msm during the 2016 campaign? A - Donald J. Trump.

Let’s see, off the top of my head: Trump withdrew the US from the TPP, calmed North Korea, put tariffs on Chinese goods even while establishing a good personal relationship with Xi and becoming popular with the Chinese people, began repatriating manufacturing to America, cut taxes, abandoned NAFTA and replaced it with the USMCA, secured our southern border and got Mexico to dedicate 20,000 troops to help secure it, strengthened NATO by getting EU countries to increase their contributions to NATO, refused to put American military in between Turkey and the Kurds and made them work out a buffer zone themselves, hammered out the Abraham Accords as a completely new framework for peace in the Middle East, established the policy that if you harm an American soldier we will hunt you and kill you, then backed it up by blowing up the Iranian general in charge of the Iraqi insurgency against Americans, confirmed THREE constitutionalist Supreme Court justices, what am I forgetting?
And he did all that in just 4 years. I’d call that ahead of schedule and under budget. Imagine what he could get done with another 4 years.

Holy cow! How could I forget? America became energy independent under Trump, with loads of oil jobs and cheap gas.

#14, made us energy independent and an exporter of oil, caused the highest employment numbers in history for minorities and the second highest for women, kept inflation at record lows, brought the economy back after the devastation of covid, made America strong, effective and feared again…
And did it all with the enemedia, the demonrats, the never-Trumper republicans and social media trashing him 24/7 for the entire four years.

I really don't care what anyone thinks of President Trump...he's a tough businessman who gets the job done...if this offends you...then step aside...WE Trumpers love him...and his way of putting America first...which means...he's putting OUR needs first...so go skulk in your corners and leave the business of our country to a real man...who knows how to get a job done...

As I have said before, I much rather have someone that is blunt, but does a good job for the people than have a smooth talking politician that makes a mess of things while he sweetly lies to your face.

Powerful words and undeniable truths in this article. Inexplicably, the Democrats and their leftist warriors want to force our great nation down on its knees, foment racial distrust and violence, and trash the sacrifices made by those who created America. And to those who have given everything to preserve our freedoms and defend us - it’s a slap in the face. Destroying Trump is their number one goal, and is consuming them. Because he was so strong as President, fearless and ‘got the job done’ - for all Americans - they will never forgive him. They’ve destroyed so much of what he accomplished.

I just understand this - We don't have to like his personality but his virtues far outweigh it. I love his personality and don't have any problem with it. Yes, he called Rosie a fat pig. Well...

How valuable must Trump be when almost the entire MSM is dedicated to destroy him. Stop & think, the NY Times defended Stalin and Hitler initially. Trump accomplished many "political miracles" and never received a single word of thanks or congrats from the low-life TV, Radio or newspapers. May they all sink and die in their own swill!!

Why do people think you can fight off a political assassination by:
CNN, MSN, CNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC
FB, Google, Twitter
FBI, CIA
Academia
Swamp Rinos
Dimonion and the entire demoncrat fight club?
And think it will not require a good jab and a walloping right hook?
President Trump has a good jab and a right hook from hell. I wouldn't trade him.
