Nasa's James Webb telescope reveals millions

There were 10 times more galaxies just like our own Milky Way in the early Universe than previously thought. This cosmic insight comes from one of the first studies of images captured by Nasa's new James Webb Space Telescope. One of its authors, Prof Christopher Conselice from the University of Manchester, UK, said that Webb could "zoom in on the early Universe". This yielded insights about objects in space that "we knew existed but didn't understand how and when they formed". Disc galaxies dominate the "galaxy population" today," the researcher explained. "Our own galaxy is a disc, Andromeda (our nearest neighbour, which is 2.5 million light-years from Earth) is a disc.

and that's only from one scant portion of the visible space available to JWB, why can't the "scientists" just state a known fact: that space is so large there is no way to comprehend its size and stop this million here, million there thing there are more celestial bodies than there are grains of sand on a beach, any beach or all beaches combined get over it, you (scientists) really don't know what's out there, do you

I thought the telescope suffered irreparable damage a few months back from a meteorite strike? These may be the only closeup images as the deep space capability was not affected. TBD.

Once again the physicists will get their way, postulating about stuff that's so far away or happened so long ago that no one will be able to refute them. Then, in order to prove or further their postulates, the taxpayers will get to pitch in more money for an even deeper look.

Millions of galaxies, yet God knows your name. Millions of galaxies, and God knows the number of hairs on your head. Millions of galaxies, and yet God the Father sacrificed His only Son for you to spare you from hell and take you to heaven. How incredibly horrible hell must be! How incredibly awesome heaven must be! How incredibly immeasurable is God's love for us!

Walmart issued a profit warning Monday, cautioning that its second-quarter operating income would be lower than expected and would show a decline of about 13 percent. The announcement quickly caused other major US retailers’ stocks to plunge, wiping out over $100 billion in stock market value in after-hours trading. (Investopedia explains how after-hours trading works here.) Per Reuters: Walmart’s stock tumbled over 9% in extended trade, and other big retailers also sold off. Target (TGT.N)fell over 5% and Amazon (AMZN.O) was down about 4%. Meanwhile Costco Wholesale Corp (COST.O), Best Buy (BBY.N), Dollar General (DG.N) and Dollar Tree (DLTR.O) each declined more than 3%. Home Depot (HD.N) fell almost 2%. This comes as President Biden and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen continue to deny

Republican officials in the House and Senate ripped into the Biden administration after it attempted to redefine what constitutes a recession while concerns mount about a significant decline in economic activity this year. On Thursday, ahead of a potentially negative GDP report expected later this week — the annualized economic growth rate shrank by 1.6% in the first quarter of this year and appears to have contracted even more in the second — a White House blog post attempted to redefine the term “recession.” “While some maintain that two consecutive quarters of falling real GDP constitute a recession, that is neither the official definition nor the way economists evaluate the state of the business cycle,”

The Wall Street Journal on Sunday accused Telsa CEO and SpaceX founder Elon Musk of having an affair with the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, causing Brin to file for divorce. A Twitter post from this morning showing Brin and Musk partying appears to be authentic, as Musk replied to the tweet with, “Yeah, that was Sergey and me yesterday afternoon!” The Journal article, last updated at 12:30 AM EST on Monday, paints a wholly different picture. Prepare for the incoming red wave, because we just got more signs that, if the numbers hold, it’s going to be big. I wrote a week ago about the Fox poll that had the Republicans up by three points in the generic ballot. According to the Fox News models, that advantage would translate to a GOP win, with a gain of 23 seats. Now, other polls are coming in even higher than that. First, we have the Trafalgar Group poll on the generic Congressional ballot. That has the Republicans up by more than eight points among likely voters, Republicans 48.3 percent to Democrats 40.2. That’s with even a greater percentage of Democrats

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is calling for the end of private car ownership in the name of saving the world from climate change by reducing the need for green tech resources. “We need a clean energy revolution, and we need it now,” the WEF begins its article. Author Jeffrey Frank has written two biographies of American presidents, one about Harry S. Truman and another about the relationship between Dwight D. Vice President Kamala Harris, who was a first-term senator from California before entering the White House, hasn’t been given the sort of immersive experiences or sustained, high-profile tasks that would deepen and broaden her expertise in ways Americans could see and appreciate. In the modern era, of course, a 68-day trip for a vice president would be laughable.

Almost three months later, though, the leaker has seemingly escaped detection and punishment. Are they even still investigating the leak? Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin suggested that abortion bans in some states could actually violate religious beliefs in a column on Sunday. Rubin introduced the subject by referencing a lawsuit brought up by the Jewish Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor against the 15-week abortion ban in Florida. The congregation argued that Jewish law "does not consider life to begin at conception or at 15 weeks" and refusing an abortion could violate their beliefs. Though Rubin questioned whether this would sufficiently infringe on "First Amendment rights and the state constitution’s free-exercise clause," she still considered the issue "important."
