Republicans sparred with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg over the cost of electric vehicles on Tuesday as some members of the House Transportation Committee accused him of favoring the vehicles as the response to high gas costs. The exchange came Tuesday when Buttigieg appeared before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to testify about the administration’s progress in implementing the bipartisan infrastructure law. Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) used the opportunity to press Buttigieg over the high cost of electric vehicles, which he noted are higher than the cost of an average compact car. What good is an electric car going to do without enough electricity to charge it? I guess we're supposed to get an exercise bike and hook a generator to it to charge up the car? Besides, fire departments around here are busy enough fighting fires because of the droughty pastures to take time to fight a battery fire.

Pete "ButtSore" Buttigieg should be more concerned about the price of toe-nails polish for his husband, Chasten James Glezman Buttigieg. Perhaps a federal grant to examine electric toe-nails polish.

I watched an excerpt from the hearing. After watching all the abortion women (defined herein as meaning individual humans who have the traditional appearance of those humans formerly referred to generally as “women” ie those individuals who have, or at one time had or had the capacity to have, a womb) refuse to answer questions of the simplest nature; it was refreshing to see Pus Beautyjuggs give simple yes and no answers. Whatever respect that established was quickly dissipated when he assumed away the tough questions - eg how will you build out the infrastructure in 10 years? - like a crooked prospectus.

Tha's because lithium batteries cost an enormous amount to manufacture, and they don't make them in the US because of how much pollution is involved, plus child labor and all of the mining and refining involved in the process. I heard a report today that a couple needed a replacement battery in their EV and it costs more than the car itself. Plus these EVs use electricity mostly generated by coal-fired plants to charge them. So tell me how energy efficient they are. Plus the cost of electricity is necessarily skyrocketing, and good luck finding a charging station that works.

Pete Bootygig is a real piece of work. Let's see how well those EV' work in places like Montana, North/South Dakota, Wyoming when temps dip way below zero? and there's not a soul for hundreds of miles or a gas station, let alone a charging station. The D.C. Dumbasses have no clue about anything outside of their bubble.

Pete B uses the Chevy Bolt as his example, at a starting price of a little over $26,000, of an inexpensive electric car. The Chevy Bolt is essentially an electric version of the Chevy Spark, with a starting price of $13,600. For anyone actually paying attention, he just made Rep. Perry's point.

Cost and inconvenience is not an issue with these fanatics. They will destroy the ICE vehicle industry and electric will be the sole option, take it or leave it. National infrastructure will not appear for another fifteen years, if the economy survives. They must be removed from office the easy way or the hard way.

This guy is a complete ditz. Does he even realize what he’s saying? First, the electric cars are way out of reach financially. The bank doesn’t care how much you’ll save on gas. Second, the chargers are not technologically ready and we have no national infrastructure in place to support them. Third, the aging power grids in our metropolitan areas can’t handle the demand we already have. This naïve stupidity is something that we can’t afford right now. We are in an energy crisis and headed for a recession. If you can’t contribute anything productive please shut the hell up.

Almost three months later, though, the leaker has seemingly escaped detection and punishment. Are they even still investigating the leak? Vice President Kamala Harris, who was a first-term senator from California before entering the White House, hasn’t been given the sort of immersive experiences or sustained, high-profile tasks that would deepen and broaden her expertise in ways Americans could see and appreciate.
