As we reported earlier, there was a shooting at the Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood, a suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana, with three victims killed and two injured. One victim is a male and the others are female. (snip) The attacker was a male with a rifle and several magazines. But what stopped him almost immediately, according to the police, was a good Samaritan with a handgun who saw the shooting and responded, shooting the attacker and killing him. The hero is a 22-year-old man who had a legal permit and is cooperating with the police.

Actress Jennifer Grey of Dirty Dancing fame discussed her teenage abortion in a recent interview, claiming that the procedure helped her get out of a dangerous party lifestyle before she made it as an actor.
Grey has released an autobiography, Out of the Corner, in which she reviews her life thus far, but on the heels of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to return the issue of abortion back to the states, Grey insisted that, like her Dirty Dancing film, abortion is a way to help women advance their careers.

A former Southwest Airlines flight attendant who was fired after sparring with her union president over abortion won a $5.3 million jury verdict against the airline and the union Thursday.
A jury in a Dallas federal district court handed down the verdict, ruling Charlene Carter had been fired for her religious stance on abortion, which she shared to social media, and that her termination was in violation of her right to advocate against her union.
If it stands, Carter could collect $4.15 million from Southwest and $950,000 from Local 556 of the Transport Workers Union, mostly in punitive damages.

The man wanted for stabbing NASCAR star Bobby East to death in California earlier this week was gunned down by a SWAT team in Anaheim, police revealed.
East, 37, was stabbed while pumping gas in a gas station in Westminster, outside Anaheim, on Wednesday. Westminster PD previously identified the suspect in East’s killing as Trent William Millsap, 27, who they described as a “transient and known to frequent Westminster, Garden Groce and Anaheim motels.”
Millsap was killed Friday when a SWAT team was serving a search warrant and shots rang out, police said.

San Francisco’s no-nonsense new district attorney is cleaning house — as she reportedly laid off 15 staffers inherited from her booted, woke predecessor.
The firings Friday by Brooke Jenkins come nearly two weeks after she was appointed district attorney by Mayor London Breed following the recall of her much-maligned predecessor Chesa Boudin, according to SFGATE.com.
“Today, I made difficult, but important changes to my management team and staff that will help advance my vision to restore a sense of safety in San Francisco by holding serious and repeat offenders accountable and implementing smart criminal justice reforms,” Jenkins said in a statement.

U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta agreed Friday with defendant Peter Navarro, a former economic adviser to President Donald Trump, that his abrupt arrest by the FBI at Reagan National Airport last month for contempt of Congress was bizarre. (snip) Mehta, a former federal defender, said it was puzzling that prosecutors didn’t just tell Navarro he was going to be charged and allow him to walk into an FBI office, as some white-collar defendants are permitted to do.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue has decried the worrisome trend of black Congresswomen siding with white supremacists in pushing abortion for blacks.
“White supremacists have always championed population control for blacks, whether it be in the form of birth control or abortion,” Dr. Donohue wrote this week. “Today this cause is being led by black Congresswomen.”
Donohue went on to note that the pro-abortion movement has been rooted in white supremacy from its origins, with Margaret Sanger founding Planned Parenthood for the express purpose of “decreasing the black population.”

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) called on Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley to honor his word and stop dodging questions about allegations in Bob Woodward and Robert Costa’s book Peril that he usurped President Donald Trump’s power as commander in chief after the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, in violation of the law. (snip) “According to Peril, [he] summoned senior operation officers in the military command center to his office,” Grassley said, adding, “He had them take ‘an oath’ not to ‘act’ on the president’s orders without checking with him first,” Grassley said.

Sheriff Joe Lombardo, the Republican nominee for governor in Nevada, called on a Nevada judge to resign after making “anti-police” comments during a court hearing earlier this week.
The Nevada Globe reported that Clark County District Judge Erika Ballou, a black woman, made anti-police remarks while addressing a black defendant during a court proceeding.
“You’re the one making the decisions not to walk away from cops,” Ballou told the defendant. “You’re a black man in America. You know you don’t want to be nowhere where cops are.”
Ballou went on to say that she does not want to be “nowhere where cops are.”

Two religious leaders plan to join a lawsuit filed by a synagogue in Boynton Beach, Florida against a state law banning abortion at 15 weeks gestation.
The two leaders, one Unitarian and one Buddhist, will argue that the law violates the state Constitution’s right to privacy and freedom of religion (via NBC):
The retired Unitarian Rev. Harris Riordan and the Buddhist minister Maya Malay confirmed they will file a lawsuit in state court next week, echoing arguments from Rabbi Barry Silver. Silver intends to file his own amended complaint next week along with Rabbi Arthur Wascow, the founder and director of the progressive Jewish organization the Shalom Center.

This is a tragic story all the way around. (snip) An OB-GYN in Indianapolis, Dr. Caitlin Bernard, performed the abortion. (snip) Bernard filed the required abortion disclosure, known as a “terminated pregnancy” form, on July 2, two days after she performed the girl’s abortion, according to a copy of the form IndyStar received Thursday from the state health department. (snip) Also, on the disclosure form, an age for the father had to be provided. An approximate age. The doctor recorded his age as 17. That would make him a minor, too. He’s 27. Doesn’t that raise a red flag?

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón will fight a state Supreme Court appellate ruling that he must charge all eligible cases as mandated under California’s “three strikes” law. (snip) Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami, a Gascón critic who supports the recall movement against him, said his boss issued a “blanket policy” in December 2020 forbidding strike priors to be filed in any case. "He also ordered all prosecutors to remove strike priors on any existing cases (snip) That meant child murderers, serial rapists, child molesters, sex traffickers, and police killers who were career criminals, we couldn’t use the law, look at the evidence, or even ask for an exception,"
