I had breakfast in Budapest this morning with an American academic on vacation with his family. We talked about the turmoil in the world; like me, he is a Christian. He has been working in the Baltic countries for the past few years, and said that those places are beginning to re-paganize. About the Christian churches in the West, he said that it feels to him like we are at the point of the downfall of the Kingdom of Judah, just before the Jews were taken to Babylon in captivity. He said that in those days, many false prophets appeared, telling the Jews what they wanted to hear:

Long but well-written article. The Bible predicts such apostasy. But the feminization of men and the push for female dominance has been a cultural trend in our country for decades. This adds to the problem. The author would have been well served to address that too.

A lot of percentages mentioned here, but little of Christ and Him crucified for sin, buried and resurrected to a new life! It is the Gospel that is the power of God for salvation, and THAT is the draw for both men and women!

The Episcopal Church went. full leftist in 1975, having been a postulant in the Church, I was saddened greatly by its decision to go over the brink to full touchy feely feel good socialism. They became "woke' before it was so popular. It became impossible to be an America loving conservative and remain therein! I doubt seriously. any remain therein!

Men are the natural protectors, and discipliners. But the socialists have stripped men of the authority to discipline, or defend themselves and their families, and prosecute them, if they do so. The police cannot intervene any longer, and will be prosecuted if they do, and worse, they will have to hire legal services themselves, having no liability protection for what they do on the job. Nobody should take such a job under such terms. The military was formed to protect the U.S., but has been used almost exclusively to fight foreign wars, most not declared by Congress, and many conflicts without the approval of the American people.

I think this has happened because many of the leaders in many religions have gone woke. We were told to believe/follow in one direction and its certainly NOT what we are told now. When leaders turn into cowards, the faithful will no longer follow.

I also believe that "forgiveness" has been hijacked. There seems to be an attitude of "well, Jesus died on the cross for me so that means I can do whatever I want to do." It is the misconception that forgiveness absolves people from accountability.
A friend of mine told me about a person she knows who is starting to read the Bible. Her initial commentary is "God is so mean" and I am flabbergasted. Excuse me but it is the adversary who is mean. The adversary lives out doubt or fear and sin comes into being with Adam and Eve. No, God is not mean - he just has to clean up after us humans. As I said in the first paragraph, we humans think we can do whatever we want and so what if it offends God. Yet, when we humans are offended?????

On a side note, #6, I used to struggle with the existence of evil.
Then I came to believe the glaring problem is not what God allows, but what man allows.

#2, Thank you. That was my take also. Peterson does have good points, but church is where you find Christ. It is His message, the Gospel, that has the power to change anyone for the better.
We have feminized boys today to the point that it is disturbing. An affluent easy American life has made that easy. The culture has elevated women to the detriment of everyone else. We have no concept of our roles in this world.
God created us for specific roles and we have demolished His ideal plan for us and society. Far too many men are so cowed today that they repress their masculinity and women are so aggressive that it is off putting. Our movies celebrate women warriors to the extent that this mindset bleeds over into reality. Hence, the push for women in the military to become members of special forces that were geared specifically toward the ultimate warrior. It is nonsense to believe that women are physically capable of joining those forces at the same level men are required to meet and exceed.
This female forward ideology is meant to damage the family unit. The very essence of that is built on rejecting the specific understanding of the different qualities that are hard wired into men and women. This, of course, is anathema to liberals who reject God and any mention of the specific roles that create a solid family, confident kids, and a strong community. Those people don’t rely on government to meet their needs. They are self-sufficient and confident in who they are and what they can accomplish as a family and ultimately as a community. The problem we have in society today is that we have rejected God’s plan for our lives and believe we can do better which is obviously untrue. Life is a gift and when it is lived as God intended, there is joy, satisfaction and peace. It is when godless ideology becomes the norm, that we have serious problems.
You can track the downward spiral in this country and it begins when God was rejected and His plan for our lives was ridiculed. Just look at the mess from the 60’s on and you will see quite clearly, the downward trajectory. The one good piece of good news. It’s never too late to seek God and begin living the life He intended for us to live.

Agree with 6 that Grace is often trampled on. As Breitbart so aptly stated, “politics is downstream of culture, and culture downstream religion.” Truth is, there are only a handful of Christian leaders speaking out to the LGBTQ movement that was born in the pit of hell. James Dobson, Charles Colson ministry, Greg Locke, Jack Hibbs, and a handful of others. I understand it’s the love of Jesus that draws us to the gospel but this demonic movement of God making mistake with your sex is demonic. It must be addressed by the leaders in the church. We as Christians love these “troubled souls” but they can’t be teaching our children in schools this depravity. This movement is plain sinful and must be called out, not in judgment but in truth & love.

I am not a fan of Rod Dreher. Christians would do better to get their heads out of the Old Testament. Tear it out of your Bible if that's the only way you can do it. Read Mattrhew 5-7 until the entirety of Christian charity, love for each other, and nonjudgment fully sinks in. Christ didn't abolish The Law but fulfilled it, but once fulfilled it is time to move on and into the New Covenant.
Christianity is really quite simple. Love God, love each other, believe in the Resurrection, and proclaim that belief out loud. Everything else is details, and any action or attitude or belief that does not comply with each of these is counter to Christ's message. Making fun of Episcopalian openness not only entirely misses Christ's message, but stands it on its head.

Mainstream Christian religion has evolved into non-denominational ecumenical mush that lacks the ear-banging theatrics featured on countless television productions, the WWE wing of Christianity. While pretending to eschew "politics", the pulpit has widely become another "moderate liberal" monument, complete with LGBT+ representation in the clergy. When once it led the parade, it has long since took a left turn...and now wonders where the crowd went.

A couple thoughts...
- Catholic priests are not allowed to marry. What impact does that have on the church?
- There are over 20000 religions. None are the same, but they are all divinely inspired. They cannot all be right. What if none of them are? God and religion are two different things.
The problem with taking a hardline stand at the church, is more people will say 'bye' and walk away. Often these hardline churches fail to live up to their own standards.
I remember an incident with my dad and the local church/school. He was a Boy scout troop leader, and the church was the sponsor. One night, he had his weekly scout meeting, and the school's basketball team was also there. This was at a grade school that the church sponsored as well. The people watching the basketball team left halfway through the evening and left the team unsupervised. The basketball team vandalized the building causing hundreds of dollars in damage. The church and school officials blamed my dad for not watching the basketball team. He moved the boy scout troop when it became obvious they really did not support it. They were playing favoritism.
Why aren't men filling the pews in church? Best look at the church for an answer to that.

1973. Roe v Wade. "Legalizing abortion." That's when this country made a trip into evil. Murdering children in the womb. Since then we have be accustomed to evil. To name a few: The LGBQT whatever. Going after young children in grades K through 3 to instruct them on their "sexuality." Doing this without informing parents. Murder and mayhem on our streets. Criminals being let go after a very few minutes/hours. Men, assuming feminity trespassing in girls bathrooms, raping. We have become complacent. We have our phones, our tvs, facebook, twitter, tik tok. Capturing the minds of our people. God is left out. God loves us. We reject God. There are so many places in the Bible, Old and New Testament telling us God loves us. God hates our ingrained depravity. He still loves us. We have to take back our schools. We have to keep our children close to us. We must pray. As for unmarried Priests. Not a problem in today's life. Read scripture. That's in the Bible. You know, the word of God. Remember that? God still loved Adam and Eve. God paid the price for our salvation and heaven. Get back to "basics." Care for and love your children; your neighbors. Read His word. Pray for peace, your own peace and the world.

The author is playing my song. I keep asking, even on L.com, “where are our men?” and it’s good to know that I’m not alone in wondering. If enough men near the border met their responsibilities to protect they would stop the invasion or die trying and other men would rush to their aid faster than Brian Stelter, Don Lemon or Jake Tapper could talk them out of it. If good men in Ferguson or Littleton or Parkland or Portland stood up to the mobs and shooters loss of life and property could have been stemmed. I’d say Kenosha but Kyle Rittenhouse acted like a man, so there was one. But he was 17 years-old and boy, did he learn his lesson. He’ll never make that mistake again. He may as well have been put in stocks in the village square for the nancies to throw tomatoes at. Speaking of “nancies” there is now a line of men’s toiletries called “Nancy Boy” so whole industries are springing up around the feminization of men. The logo is a baby blue daisy. Take that Old Spice!
Effeminate men are provocative in the sense of pit-of-the-stomach angering because weakness is provocative and such men have chosen to be weak as their primary identity. I’m not talking about homosexuals because there are many of them willing to stand up like men.
And is it just my imagination or is lisping becoming more common among male news readers, commercial product spokesmen and TV and movie personalities? Is lisping becoming a resume enhancer? This month Better Homes and Gardens has seen fit for its cover to feature a close-up of a man known for his androgyny complete with a coral colored beaded necklace and fingernail polish - and the obligatory facial stubble. So sweet. Open the pages and you will find an aged Mick Fleetwood wearing some pink kimono monstrosity and foam green nail polish.
I am getting old so maybe I’m being a crank but I’ve seen the cavalcade of ruin that is affixed to the increased feminization of men and it’s disgusting.
#12, ok and then what? Because I’m pretty sure the article has cataloged a list of what happens without male leadership, muscle and courage and it looks like we’re collapsing before religions who don’t believe in the New Testament at all.

So very well said, #8.
We should study to show ourselves approved, rightly divide the scriptures and speak as the oracles of God from our pulpits and in our conversations, letting our lives be the example of the things God has taught in His word. Knowing the scriptures and contending for the faith in our personal lives is paramount. As “living stones” for Christ, Christians can be the building blocks that change the world. When we become complacent & neglect those things in our families, among friends and acquaintances, and in our churches, we allow worldliness to seep in and influence, then to very often change those who aren’t as knowledgeable or as strong in the faith. Once that happens and worldly values are accepted, that call evil good, and good evil, it becomes hard to change them back, as in the example in #6.
We are nearing the point of suffering as the apostles and first century Christians did when they stood for the truth. Silence isn’t an option. The salvation of many souls, including our own, depends on the truth being spread. The sad thing is that we are already at the point of people calling it hate when you actually love them enough to “speak as the oracles of God” regarding things that jeopardize salvation. Too many “itching ears” in churches have fallen under the influence of false teachers, and the hearts of the worldly grow harder and harder.

#12 I’m sure you don’t like the hard and mean parts of the Bible, but you’re making a huge mistake.
You risk God taking away your share in the tree of life and in the holy city. Revelation 22:18.
Christianity is not a simple childish wish fulfillment, get forgiven, love everyone, throw away all judgment, and pretend that you remain saved no matter what. So, do whatever you want.
Sure go to a church with false teachers that tells you nice comforting things you want to hear.
But the unpleasant things you don’t want to hear are the things you need to hear.

The Apostle Paul's advise for us:17 "And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. 27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.33 I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive." He commends them to God and His word.

#18 rightly points out the unleashing of the terrible evil upon our country with the Roe decision. However, the first tear in our country's moral fabric was the Supreme Court's 1963 decision to remove mandatory Bible-reading in American public schools. If memory serves me correctly, there was another spiritually wrenching national event later that year.
#21 gives us the long standing Christian metaphor of "living stones", and that is so appropriate for our times are like our first century brothers and sisters. We are surrounded by pagans who worship strange gods and speak unknown languages. We are to be a sign of contradiction. We are to be love in a time of hate. We are to offer peace in a time of war. We are to offer strength in a time of weakness. We are to offer the Bread of Life in a time of hunger. We are to be ambassadors of Christ in a world that is not our home.

Agree, very good article. Lot's of good points. Lot's to think about. I'm one of those men who, although a spiritual Christian, feel that I just can't find a congregation that fits. Never really knew why. But definitely have felt that the churches we've been to cater to the weak, and push life style choices that I don't find comfortable. I know we all are weak and sinners, and perhaps my reluctance is a sin in itself, but I have a hard time (strong word here) groveling. I praise Jesus. I don't believe he wants me to grovel. He wants me to praise him, be thankful, joyful. But not constantly pray for help. Orthodoxy is something to look at.

One does not find Truth in "religion," but through study of the Word of God from the original texts as presented by a MALE Pastor-Teacher. Denominations have nothing to offer, but a "clubhouse" and "rules" to follow.
There is something in Scripture for the masculine male as well as comfort and security for feminine women. Where Truth is taught the sensibilities of the misguided lose their grip and panic sets in. They react almost immediately. After a time, the Truth becomes more real than reality itself.
Jesus said something to us that is very important in Mark 8:38 - “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
Never be ashamed of the Truth of God!

# 29 is on the right track. The denominations have put people on a cruise ship with every activity at the church designed to keep you there. Christians are no longer taught to FAITHE...only taught to spend time in the 'family center' or some other cruise ship activity each week. The OUT Called Ones of the New Testament Church were threatened with death if they preached the true Gospel. That threat is now coming again with the advent of the 7th and 8th beast of Revelation- ISLAM. Either bow to satan's religon or die. We are in the time of Noah again....try teachingfaith.com

To anyone who suggests that we get our heads out of the Old Testament or tear it out of our Bibles, I offer 2 Timothy 3:16-17. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
On the day that Paul wrote those words to Timothy, the New Testament was, obviously, a work in progress, and had not yet been assembled. The New Testament's affirmation of the Hebrew Bible is clear.

I was one of those rough men that stood watch.
Now that I have gone well past my prime, I still stand and am ready to fight.
There is no 'but'.
I have two basic problems with organized religion.
1. There are far too many for me to sort out the 'right' one.
2. I do not believe the bible is the direct literal written word. There have been too many groups of men involved to have not been corrupted.
Ever play telephone?? Do I have a solution? No.
While you are busy casting me into your pit, please remember your own words.
Everybody talks to God. Each in our own way, and guess what? I believe I get answers. Odd isn't it. After having to cope with taking another life, I can still sit in a quiet place and talk to my maker. Whom I adore, who adores me for exactly who I am.
I am a rough man, I am no longer on the wall, but woe be to he who gets past our sentry, for I have no qualms about doing what needs to be done.
