For congressional Republicans, the election can’t come soon enough. In the modern era, it’s hard to think of a time when the party out of power had more things going its way. Harry Enten, CNN’s political data analyst, recently noted that going by the generic ballot, things haven’t looked this good for Republicans to pick up House seats in the midterms since 1938. Since 1980, the party of the president in power has lost an average of 22 seats in the midterms. Republicans need only nine to win the majority.
Of course, Republicans think this means they’re doing something right.

It's actually a pretty reasonable article by Goldberg. Worth a read.

Jonah, you have been infected by the liberal parasites of NY and DC. Please, get help. At one time you were a brilliant and funny writer but your success has ruined you.

I dislike his premise because I know he isn't honest. Unfortunately, there is some truth in it. However, even though republicans can frustrate, consider the totally unacceptable alternative.

The concern many of us have is that the two major political parties are in cahoots to give the voters the illusion of differences while proceeding in tandem to kill our constitution and impose a strange, inhuman, soul destroying administrative state in its place. Goldberg would do well to address those concerns rather than using the old excuse of ineptitude.

Give this article a chance. In spite of Jonah's typically liberal bias, he hits the nail on the head with every point he makes. Tell me that all of you don't have that nagging feeling in your stomach that the republicans are going to disappoint and deceive us, if not after the election then before. The RINOs and anti-Trump sentiment still exist. They should have had the January 6th circus ended by now.

Well, Trump had a very simple agenda he put in place. Good economy, jobs, law and order, America first. Simple. Unfortunately, many people couldn’t realize it because of his personality. Those people are why we have Biden and destruction.

I read the article part way and got no further than his admiration of the gun bill which just passed the Senate when I looked at who wrote the article. While he makes some good points, my experience indicates that politicians who stand for something are usually more popular than those who are perceived as going whichever way the wind blows.

More RINO, Never Trump toilet paper.
This clown advocates "baby steps" to keep in power. That has long been the establishment Republican plan as dems moved us closer to the cliff at every chance they got and Republicans meekly tried to be agreeable. Trump faced that insanity head on and was vastly successful. He would have been even more successful, like completely cancelling BOCare, if not for the quislings in the Congress. Yes, Trump made BOLD moves and talked BOLDLY about them. That WAS and IS NECESSARY because of the mess the dems have made over decades, the entrenchment of the Deep State, and the establishment of a propaganda media. JG and other useless pundits love to talk about the way things should be and seem to think things will change because of their good ideas and measured approach. However, without BOLD intention and execution, things just keep getting worse. The quislings talk, and talk, and talk, and talk. Trump got more done in 4 years than they did in decades of jaw boning. Maybe if these losers got on board and supported Trump instead of being a 5th column, we could have escaped Brandon's hell on earth. For JG and his ilk, their hatred of Trump, their egos, and their timidity for policy vastly outweighed the good of America. We don't need to listen to people like that. They are on the path of losers.

I don't like everything Jonah says or does. That said, this is a good article and WE here should not discount everything Goldberg writes because we dislike his seeming hatred of all things Trump. We make ourselves look foolish when we refuse to listen/read what those we dislike say/write. Even a broken clock.......

Okay, recognizing that Jonah is a pariah these days...
The fact is that American politics is a show for the boobs while the wiseguys profiteer. The knee-jerk issues never die. They're too valuable as revenue generators. Take a look at the abortion "rights" advocates as a clear example. The idea of "mandates" every four years is hyperbole that sets up the con. Big programs mean big money, and every four years it is the same old spree. For "conservatives" it is defense spending that grabs the pursestrings. "Libs" spend on social programs and "health" however they see it. No one is opposed to "health", are they?
So, if the election is being fixed by globemaster Dr. Evil Biden, why bother to vote? The numbers, no matter how great, are ultimately meaningless. If you believe the election is fairly counted, vote for the best candidate...preferably one who has never been to Washington before in any capacity. You may get one year of good service before the UNIPARTY siren calls.

Of course, Republicans think this means they’re doing something right. But if recent history is any guide, you can be sure that once elected, Republicans will blow it.
Sure thing Jonah. So Never-Trump, right ?

I will read Jonah Goldberg, just as I do the New York Times or Washington Post. Why? Because it is very enlightening to see how the Ruling Class expresses its contempt for the American people..... and because I keep seeking evidence of a glimmer of self-awareness, or a kindling of conscience, within their ranks....
But then I'm a whacky-eyed optimist for hoping that self-awareness and conscience sill exist within their ranks....
