My friend a podcast partner Kale Zelden, a Catholic, has an interesting Twitter thread about how troubled he is by Pope Francis’s recent acts, and what it says about the direction of the Catholic Church. It begins here:
Kale talks about how, as a younger man, he was so inspired by the figure of John Paul II, and the solid rock of Truth his papacy, and the Roman church, represented. Now, though, Francis continues to repudiate so much of JP2’s legacy, and not only that, but magisterial Catholic teaching. More:

This article is rubbish.
If an author says things like "...if Christianity is to survive...", and then says he won't listen to anyone who points out his admission that he left the Catholic Church, he needs to reassess his relationship to Jesus Christ. To be a Catholic, or more importantly, to be a Christian, means accepting and believing as fact that Jesus is the living God - period. No pope, no matter how broken, can change that reality.
Get into the Bible and see all of the men God chose and appointed who failed the task. A man's failure does not negate God and his glory.
Oh ye of little faith, pray for redemption.

Pope Francis is to St. John Paul II the same way China Joe is to Trump. Papa's main purpose in life now is to try and undo everything his great predecessor accomplished --- just like what China Joe is trying to do.
The results will be the same, however, and God --- in His due time --- will take care of both the POTUS and the Pope!

At the end of the article, the author discusses his leaving the Catholic Church to become Orthodox because Pope Frank is so awful. I have several friends who have also migrated to the Orthodox churches for the same reason. There they have found strong doctrinal adherence and the beauty of the ancient rites. There is an Orthodox monastery nearby where I have taken retreats. I feel the draw and understand the reasons, including the access to the Eucharist, but I'm Roman Catholic and that's my tradition. Just as I will never abandon America because we have an idiot president, I will never abandon the Roman Catholic Church because we have a pope that's a socialist. We've had worse in the last two thousand years.
Our time on earth is very short, but our time in heaven with God will be eternal. Jesus Christ founded the Church on the Rock of Peter, who went to the seat of power in his time, Rome, to preach the Good News. He was crucified for it, at his request upside down so as to not die in the same manner as Our Lord. Most of the popes between the first century through the fourth were martyred during the Roman persecutions.
The Roman Empire is long gone, but the Church remains. She has endured the Borgia popes, schisms where at times there were 2 or 3 popes, and the Protestant Reformation. We revere and honor the great reforming saints like St. Theresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. They didn't walk away from the corruption, but stayed and fought for the Church's Sacred Traditions and Teachings. God puts us into our time and expects us to take our circumstances and make them better, not to make political statements by abandoning the Church and her Sacraments.

A good start would be eliminating most of the college of cardinals, the Jesuits, and working our way down through many European and American Bishophrics. Give them the good, old "Burn the Heretics at the Stake". Cleanse the Church with fire.

This is the third secret of Fatima which is why Lucy had such difficulty writing it down; diabolical disorientation in the upper levels of the hierarchy. Because many, especially the young, want to come back to the Latin mass (which truly represents Christ's unbloody sacrifice), Francis is trying to smother their enthusiasm and do away with it. Francis is a faker and everybody knows it.

The pope is a communist and thinking Catholics know it. What boggles the mind is how he got elected to office by Cardinals who knew his politics.

Beautiful post, #4. I, too, recently felt the pull of the Orthodox Church at a friend’s wedding. Beautiful religion and so close to Roman Catholicism. But, I’ve been RC from birth, and deeply align with her core beliefs. For me, it comes down to having access to the Eucharist every day, if I choose. I have always had the greatest respect for all the popes, but this pope has me frightened, confused, and angry. It feels like I missed a meeting or a memo at some point that said we, as Catholics, are now doing a 180 on the principles that have guided us for centuries. The left has infected the Church, as it has infected every other aspect of our culture. The question is what stage are we in?

The damage this Francis is doing will be with the Catholic Church for many years to come due to the fact that he is naming new cardinals that are just like him.

The Obama team orchestrated the last conclave, with Mccarricks assistance, arranging support for a Peronist socialist committed to reversing the conservative, traditional restructuring of the VTican.
