Gibson’s Bakery filed today its response to Oberlin College’s request that the Ohio Supreme Court exercise its discretion to hear the college’s appeal from the $32 million judgment (which includes attorney’s fees and costs). That judgment resulted from the $11 million compensatory and $33 million punitive damage awards totalling $44 million, reduced by the trial court under Ohio tort reform law to $25 million. The bulk of that reduction was that over $10 million in punitive damages were eliminated by punitive damage caps.

A Delaware man and his son charged in the January 6 riot in the Capitol Building are hoping that a federal judge appointed by Trump lets them off with a slap on the wrist, claiming they were waved inside by cops. U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden acquitted a New Mexico man in April on similar charges, a rare blemish on the Justice Department's record of securing convictions in Capitol riot cases. She never explains explicitly why she abandoned the Biden name, although taunts from Hunter after their ugly divorce played a role. “Are you enjoying your last name,” he would say.

Joe Biden's Homeland Security secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, whose open-borders policies have created Swiss-cheese loopholes for virtually everyone in the world who wants to come here outside the immigration process, apparently didn't even follow his own lax policy directives. Which is why he lost yet another lawsuit brought on by the states of Texas and Louisiana about the law requiring him to deport illegal aliens convicted of felonies serious enough to land them in prison. A federal judge jumped down his thoat with a 96-page ruling. According to Fox News:

There’s an age-old philosophical thought experiment that asks, “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to hear it, does it still make a sound?” But after Thursday’s stunt by the Democratic Party known as the ‘Capitol Assault Hearings,’ we have a new, modified version that asks this: “If a failing political party puts on a primetime TV extravaganza but no one tunes in to watch it, will it make any difference in the November elections?” Food for thought. On Thursday night, only hours before the Dow Jones Industrial Average was sent plummeting by 880 points due to Friday’s devastating report showing that inflation

We hear plenty of reasons for the perfect storm that imploded California. One-party, progressive government, of course. Decades of unchecked illegal immigration, without doubt. Years of mass flight out of state of the productive middle classes, certainly. But perhaps the most important, but overlooked, reason has been the infusion of trillions of dollars of mostly tech capital into the state. Unimaginable sums of market capital warped politics and led to a top-down, feudal society, run by progressive elites who are shielded from the ramifications of their own toxic ideologies.

Inflation in May hit 8.6%, the highest level since 1981, much higher than the expected 8.2% increase, and despite all the “expert” predictions that inflation had already peaked. Is it any wonder that nobody believes what the elites tell us anymore? President Joe Biden said on Friday that he “is going to continue to do everything we can to lower the prices for the American people.” Like what? By attacking oil companies and blaming Putin? If the experts were right, Biden wouldn’t have to do anything, because they were all exclaiming in April that inflation had peaked and would soon be heading downward.

Some 44% of Americans said they were either “very confident” (21%) in the committee’s investigation or “somewhat confident” (23%) that the Democrat-dominated Jan. 6 Commission “will make a genuine effort to uncover the truth.” The online poll of 1,310 adults was taken from June 8 to June 10. It has a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percentage points.

If you are among the 8 in 10 Americans who believe the economy is tanking, relax. Never mind that the consumer-price index just hit 8.6 percent. Ignore skyrocketing gas prices. Forget that the gross domestic product shrank at an annual rate of 1.5 percent in the first quarter of 2022 and is expected to shrink further. Disregard the collapsing supply chain highlighted by empty shelves in the grocery store. Dismiss the dizzying descent of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. According to the White House and the legacy media, none of these things matter. The real problem bedeviling the economy is bad vibes.

I watched that joke of a “hearing” on Thursday, the one about January 6th and the “threat to democracy” created by angry people with no focus or objective, some of whom chanted mean things. Needless to say, I was unmoved. Only 2 members spoke, Chair Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney, and neither of them really “spoke” at all, they read. Their eyes were glued to the teleprompter the way someone who can’t swim is glued to a raft in the deep end of a pool. The national gas average hit a new record of $5.00 a gallon this week, and it doesn’t look like prices are going to fall anytime soon. Americans are frustrated with President Joe Biden’s lies about the economy, and many believe he is at fault for their wallets shrinking. A new poll conducted by the Trafalgar Group found that over 53 percent of people “believe the Biden administration is intentionally letting gas prices rise to make Americans use less fossil fuels.” While 56 percent of voters agreed that the high fuel prices is Biden’s fault. Gas prices have nearly doubled since Biden took office just over a year ago

Then he made claims about the police response to Uvalde. Hogg did not mention the numerous times armed resource officers have saved lives on campus.

Support from unaffiliated voters is propelling Republicans’ bid to reclaim both the House and Senate in November, a new Rasmussen Reports poll found. When likely U.S. voters were asked who they would vote for if elections were held today, 48 percent said a Republican candidate, 39 percent said a Democrat candidate, and just four percent said some other candidate. Nine percent were unsure. Rasmussen Reports said the Republican lead is “due to both a greater GOP partisan intensity and a 17-point advantage among independents.” “While 86 percent of Republican voters say they would vote for their own party’s congressional candidate, only 78 percent of Democrats would vote for the Democratic candidate,”
