The CDC has issued bizarre guidance telling Americans infected with monkeypox to have sex by masturbating at least six feet away from their partner, among other recommendations. Guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says anyone who has the disease must not have sex. But for those who ignore the advice, the agency has published an unusual list of the dos and donts under the bedsheets. Among its tips was also to have sex while still fully-clothed, to ensure all rashes are covered and even to avoid kissing.(Snip)The British Columbia Center for Disease Control said people should 'use barriers, like walls (e.g. glory holes)

Measles has been spotted in two children in Minnesota including one whose illness was so severe it led to them being hospitalized, local health officials say. The youngsters—both under five years old—started displaying symptoms of the disease shortly after returning from an unnamed nation where 'measles is common'. While one child is on emergency wards at a hospital the second is currently in isolation at home.(Snip)Measles has been eliminated in the United States for almost 20 years thanks to a comprehensive vaccination program. But globally the disease continues to circulate in a handful of countries including Brazil, India and areas of West and Central Africa.

Republican Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker acknowledged Thursday he has two more children the public doesn’t know about—just one day after it was revealed he has a “secret” 10-year-old son. Walker, 60, confirmed to the Daily Beast that he has a total of four children—three sons and a daughter. Until this week, the ex-NFL star had only publicly spoken about one of them—his 22-year-old son, Christian Walker. In addition to the 10-year-old son, whom he has not played an active role in raising, Walker has a 13-year-old boy and an adult daughter who was born when

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Thursday said that President Biden, who is visiting Saudi Arabia next month, believes that the country’s crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, ordered the 2018 operation that killed Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. Biden will travel to Saudi Arabia in mid-July as he seeks to thaw US-Saudi relations amid record-high gas prices. He has agreed to meet with MBS on that trip despite previously seeking to sideline bin Salman. Khashoggi’s fiancee this week beseeched Biden to cancel the meeting telling him, “you are dishonoring yourself” and “putting oil over principles” by agreeing to the sitdown.

The streets of downtown Portland, Oregon, resemble an open-air drug market. Heroin, meth and fentanyl use is rampant and often visible on city streets. Portland police officers drive by homeless addicts buying and using. The signs of drug addiction are actually increasing throughout the state, according to law enforcement sources. Oregon ranks second-highest among U.S. states for substance abuse with nearly one in five adults addicted.(Snip)Sixteen months into this first-in-the-nation experiment, the numbers paint a bleak picture. Drug overdose deaths hit an all-time high in 2021 with 1069, a 41% increase from 2020. And very few people are getting into treatment.

Gov. Greg Gianforte is out of the country on a “long-scheduled personal trip” as historic floods indefinitely closed Yellowstone National Park and deluged communities in southern Montana, his office confirmed Wednesday. Gianforte, a Republican elected in 2020, left Montana last week on a personal jaunt with his wife, Susan, before the Yellowstone River swelled Monday and isolated entire communities in Park, Carbon and Stillwater counties, the Montana Free Press reported. But a spokeswoman declined to indicate when Gianforte, 61, will return to the Treasure State or where he and his wife went, according to the report. “The governor is returning early and as quickly as possible,” spokeswoman

The Saudi Arabian government is confiscating toys, clothes and other items bearing rainbow colors, saying they conjure images of the pride flag and promotes homosexuality. Rainbow-colored bows, skirts, hats, pencil cases and other items aimed at children will be seized, according to a report broadcast Tuesday evening by Saudi Arabia’s Al Ekhbariya news channel. “We are giving a tour of the items that contradict the Islamic faith and public morals and promote homosexual colors targeting the younger generation,” an official from the commerce ministry said on the channel. The official added that the rainbow colors send “a poisoned message” to children.(Snip)Mr. Biden earlier this week signed a sweeping

Oxford University Press has announced it will produce a new dictionary of “African American English,” which will include slang ranging from “hip” to “diss.” Black Harvard literary critic Henry Louis Gates Jr. will oversee the three-year project for Oxford Languages to compile the “Oxford Dictionary of African American English,” the publisher said in a news release Thursday. The new book will include “quotations taken from real examples of language in use,” alongside the usual Oxford dictionary notations on the meaning, pronunciation, spelling, usage and history of each word. “This will serve to acknowledge the contributions of African-American writers, thinkers, and artists, as well as everyday African Americans,

More than half of all Americans think it's 'likely' that America will 'cease to be a democracy,' a new poll found. The Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that 55% of Democrats and 53% of Republicans share that belief in a stunning sign of pessimism about the country's future. Additionally the poll found that a majority of Republicans—52%—say it's likely that 'there will be a civil war in the United States in [their] lifetime' while half of independents—50%—and a plurality of Democrats—46%—agree.(Snip)Members of both parties picked negative phrases to describe the person across the political aisle.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre called on oil companies to produce more oil and gas products as a 'patriotic duty' to counter rising prices amid Russia's war on Ukraine. Her message came after President Joe Biden accused big oil companies of seeing their profit margin triple on refining, amid global energy shortages and record gas prices. 'We see it as a patriotic duty ... as we've talked about, there's war happening right now. That was caused by Russia, which is why we're seeing these hikes in gas prices, especially since since Russia has amassed, started amassing troops, on the border [of Ukraine], she said.

President Biden marked Pride Month Wednesday by ordering federal agencies to craft “inclusive” school and foster-parent policies—while slamming states he accused of trying to curb medical options for transgender minors. Biden struggled to say LGBTQI+—saying “LGBTQL, I, excuse me, plus”—at the White House event that was so crowded that he encouraged attendees to “just sort of lean against one another” in lieu of sitting down.(Snip)The order charges the Department of Health and Human Services with “working with States on expanding access to gender-affirming care”— though it was not immediately clear if the agency would directly challenge GOP-led state governments that are pursuing restrictions.

Covid vaccines for the youngest Americans could be rolled out in a matter of days after the Food and Drug Administration recommended approving both the Moderna and Pfizer shots, despite some experts warning that they are not needed for children under the age of five.
On Wednesday, members of the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee convened debated whether the benefits of Moderna and Pfizer outweigh the risks for America's 18million under-5s.(Snip)Some scientists have warned that children between the ages of six months and five years old face a vanishingly small risk of dying from Covid and that there is little demand for the shots.
