Our current period of political turmoil can be considered to have begun with the presidential election of 2008. The meteoric rise of a virtual unknown from the Illinois state Senate to the White House is fairly unprecedented. Though he lacked any depth of understanding of why things are the way they are, Mr. Obama was gifted with a commanding stage presence. After all, superficial appeal invariably trumps substance among the political activist community.
Obama was certainly helped when the Republican establishment decided that 2008 was a time to lose.

Zerobama's 'commanding stage presence' is so obviously fake that I wondered why people allowed themselves to believe the nonsense he was spouting without question. I still feel every single person who fell for his spell wanted to believe regardless of facts. And still does.

I still blame Bush. He failed to mentor a successor and left a void after his second term. Cheney wasn’t going to run for POTUS because of health reasons. nobody to step in, so they gave the nod to that ignoramus McCain.

Well said. Who thought that a mentally-ill Kenyan of questionable birth, education and accomplishment as well as a certified America and Britain hater would be the right person to "fundamentally change" America, as if we needed radical changing? His overt greed, racism and egotistical style of incompetent leadership has done us incredible damage and that damage has been continued through today by those stupid and gullible enough to follow his insane wishes. Shame on half of America for foisting this disease upon our society and for continuing the destruction through the senile puppet now occupying the White House.

Obama was "America's Choice"...twice. That's not his fault. A majority of '08/'12 voters can look i a mirror if looking for "fault." Vox populi, vox bovina.

I think you give the Clintons a free pass. They represented the first Boomers to control the Whitehouse. They brought with them the quintessential pro-abortion, pro-pot adolescent, pro-gay, anti-American, anti-military, outlook of the Boomer generation. And they got eight years to fill the administrative agencies with their permanent party minions inspired by the delusion they were working for a reincarnated JFK. They were the manure in which Obama blossomed.

Racial politics will remain at the top of the heap in the USA as long as potential Black voters keep voting just for leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrats in very high percentages, and are deemed necessary by the Democrats for their politicians to maintain their political power.

Decided to lose, indeed. I can't decide which one was the worst candidate, McPain, excuse me, McVain, or Romney. Remember, Oprah played a big roll by having Sortero on her show twice, endorsing him, and telling her vulnerable women to vote for America's first half-white, half black candidate. And, she was a big advocate of voting with your "feelings." As for Romney, Mr. Nice Guy would simply not point out what Sortero was doing to our country. Now, he's one of the leaders of the Rinos. 'Nuff said.

He knew. Dont ever think he was too stupid. He KNEW exactly what he was doing. He was deliberate and purposeful and he had backing.
Quit the lie that his "meteoric rise" was just a fluke/accident/unprecedented. They all knew. And so did the rest of us. What did we do in response?
Well, some of those who called themselves conservative "took the knee" and postured. We know who you are. YOU know who you are. EVERYBODY KNOWS.

I give the nod to the clintons. They divided our country. They were the first to put demonrats and conservatives to waring due to the miscarriage of justice. They were nearly as good as trump at exposing the swamp and that the press was a wing of the demonrat party. They sold us out to the chinese. The two went on to sell america out through the clinton foundation. Now i agree that the clintons had to mostly fold under the marxist power of obama; but the clintons were leaders in the decline of american politics, ethics, and morality.

I was programing a radio station at the time of Obama's rise to "fame." With only audio (with no pictures) I noticed that Obama's voice was as if I were hearing the real truth from a pharmacist. At the same time I came to the conclusion that America could and would probably fail. I thanked God that He (himself) does not fail.

FTA: 'The meteoric rise of a virtual unknown from the Illinois state Senate to the White House is fairly unprecedented.' Well, there was Abraham Lincoln. Hardly worth mentioning.

Obama was an emperor without any clothes and he was a divisive president and that division is carried forward and championed by Joe Biden.

FTA "We are waiting on the threshold of another "shellacking" as happened in 2010." McConnel is rising to the occasion to keep this from happening by commanding his right hand man Scornyn to work with the Democrats to pass red flag laws so they can get many, many more Americans killed by taking their means for self-defense away. Republican establishment really prefers to be in the minority so they can complain and not have to act. Democrats like to be in the majority because they do like to act and destroy.

To expand on the comments of # 7 & 11, we only got the Clintons because of Ross Perot, and Bush 41's moderate mushery. The GOP can shoulder some of the blame for foisting horrible candidates like Dole, Romney & McCain. GWBush had a great 6 years, then caved to Pelosi the last 2, and trying amnesty. Obama was truly a fraud, but the GOP was terrified of being accused of racism and would not utter a syllable of criticism. I'll never forget Bush 43 turning over a meeting at the WH to Obama right after the (highly suspected democrat planned) financial collapse in Sept. 2008. Biden is the culmination of years of stupidity, only interrupted by 4 years of Trump's America First agenda. It is amazing America was able to do so well with all the sabotage of Trump that went on.
Obama is still pulling Biden's strings. I cannot express how much I despise him.

I always looked at it as starting with bill clinton but Thank God we had New Gingrich and the rest of the dauntless knights of the Congress to fight back against clinton ... he would have started the rush to communism and even though gw bush was inept at least he wasn't a communist, then along comes comrade obama to begin it all over again but the damage had already been done because gw bush was too stupid to act to eliminate the rise of communists in our federal government

Democrats are evil, and they grow more and more evil by the day. Obama, the Nothing From Nowhere, appealed to the miserable perversity of Democrats because of his smooth, oily, glib presentation. He has the Devil's tongue. But the Democrat agenda of evil was already firmly in place by the time they chose The Evil One to carry their flag.

I blame Karl Rove, for deciding to replace the incumbent Republican Senator with an unvetted candidate who had a messy divorce. Obama ended running essentially unopposed for Senate and the rest is history.
