White House press secretary Jen Psaki wept during the “News Not Noise” podcast that came out on Thursday as she lamented over the “harsh and cruel” parental rights bills in Florida and elsewhere that liberals have misnomered as anti-LGBTQ.
The “News Not Noise” podcast host Jessica Yellin asked Psaki about the legislation that has passed in numerous conservative-led states across the nation.
“How do you make sense of what’s happening?” Yellin disingenuously asked the press secretary. “Is this sort of a predictable backlash to change? Or is this an organized political attempt to create a wedge issue ahead of the midterms in the 2024 campaign? Sort of like the way gay

Disney execs worried that Tinker Bell and Captain Hook were “potentially problematic” during their review of content headed to the new Disney+ streaming service, the New York Times reports. The review is part of Disney’s “Stories Matter” initiative, a wide-ranging effort to bring more inclusion into the Disney-sphere. From the project’s website:
As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, we are in the process of reviewing our library and adding advisories to content that includes negative depictions or mistreatment of people or cultures.
Tinker Bell (yes, I thought it was one word too) raised concern because she is “body conscious”

Democratic strategist James Carville said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The Beat” that “weirdos” are “becoming a majority” in the Republican Party. When asked about Mitch McConnell, Carville said, “Of course, this party, about a third of them are puling for Russia. Yes, he wants people that will be compliant to his worldview, which is tax cuts for the richest people in the world and tax poor people, which isn’t a very smart idea. But the problem is they are a weird political party. They need to be branded as such. These 26 QAnon people, alright, that’s not necessarily the extreme. These are people that talk about testicle tanning.

Netflix on Tuesday reported a loss of 200,000 subscribers during the first quarter — its first decline in paid users in more than a decade — and warned of deepening trouble ahead.
The company’s shares cratered more than 25% in extended hours after the report on more than a full day’s worth of trading volume. Fellow streaming stocks Roku, Spotify and Disney also tumbled in the after-hours market after Netflix’s brutal update.

President Joe Biden's Education Department again moved to ease the burden of U.S. student loans on Tuesday, with the federal government claiming its latest reforms will wipe out debts for 40,000 such borrowers and bring 3.6 million Americans closer to ending their payments.Education Secretary Miguel Cardona called the current system a 'life sentence' for millions of low-income borrowers and pledged to correct 'historical failures' that have plagued repayment schemes like the income-driven repayment program (IDR) and Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).
Borrowers working as public servants are eligible for forgiveness under PSLF once they’ve made 10 years of qualifying payments.

A little over a decade ago, two researchers at Wharton published a paper showing that, despite women’s increasing work and educational opportunities, their self-reported happiness was in steady decline. Back in 1970, women were on average happier than men; they are now less happy than men.
Broadly, since 1970, everyone has gotten more miserable. But the decline in women’s overall happiness has outpaced men’s, and the happiness curve inverted sometime in the early 1990s. The paper also documents increasing anxiety and neuroticism, as well as decreasing social cohesion among women.

A bill co-sponsored by 18 House Republicans would remove the National Education Association’s (NEA) 116-year-old federal charter because of the union’s hyper-partisanship and support for extreme ideological policies such as critical race theory (CRT).
“The NEA can no longer be considered a public service worthy of its federal charter as it has drifted substantially from its core mission and become a massive political operation dedicated to electing Democrats and imposing a radical progressive agenda on America’s schools,” (snip)
The NEA was chartered in 1906 by Congress ‘‘to elevate the character and advance the interests of the profession of teaching; and to promote the cause of education in the United States,’’

To this point, Joe Biden has danced around the idea of running for a second term. His handlers have indicated that he plans to while leaving the door open for other circumstances to arise. When the president himself has spoken on it, he’s been even vaguer, mentioning his health and suggesting that Donald Trump possibly running again would be a deciding factor. A firm commitment has been largely elusive.
According to The Hill, though, Biden has committed to staying in the game. The president made those comments to Barack Obama during the latter’s recent White House comeback tour. "President Biden has told former President Obama that he is planning to run

Elon Musk has slammed 'unwatchable' Netflix for becoming infected by the 'woke mind virus' as the streaming giant hemorrhages subscribers. The US company lost 200,000 users between January and March this year, a quarterly report announced yesterday, causing shares to plummet by 25 per cent, with a further 2million subscribers set to leave by June. The service is now proposing introducing adverts and stopping password sharing to stem the exodus, which it is trialing in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru in a bid to clamp down on the estimated 10million households who use someone else's account.

Jen Psaki and Peter Doocy clashed on Monday in the first White House press briefing following the infamous ‘stupid SOB’ incident between the media adversaries. Watch: (Video) “Why is it that we can sit here in the white house briefing room with no masks, but people can’t sit in an airplane cabin with no masks?” Doocy asked in reference to the national mask mandate being struck down in a federal court in Florida on Monday.“Well, Peter, I’m not a doctor,” she said condescendingly. “You’re not a doctor that I’m aware of. If you’re a doctor, I wasn’t aware of that today until today. Okay. Not a doctor.
Comments:
Those who remember Carter recall LBJ, Nixon and Ford...with profligate guns-and-butter spending, wage-price controls, the beginning of fiat currency, and WIN (Whip Inflation Now) buttons. Carter was awful and in many ways victim of his predecessors. Biden deserves scorn and derision, but let's not dismiss the contributions of his predecessor and Congress, who appropriated TRILLIONS to balloon the national debt and get the inflation train rolling out of the station. It took 15 years to get the last bout of inflation under control. It takes political guts to raise interest rates to the point necessary. Back then that was 20% on a mortgage! To quote Ronald Reagan, I fear "we ain't seen nothing yet."
