Gilbert Gottfried, the actor and legendary standup comic known for his raw, scorched voice and crude jokes, has died. He was 67.
Gottfried died from recurrent ventricular tachycardia due to myotonic dystrophy type II, a disorder that affects the heart, his publicist and longtime friend Glenn Schwartz said in a statement.
His family shared the sad news Tuesday on his Twitter account.
“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness,” they said.
“In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us,

Gilbert was one of my favorite comics. Very quick, insightful and (ahem) bold. This makes me sad. RIP.

Another "famous person" that I have never heard of. RIP, sir, you didn't deserve this from these damned shots. Nobody does.
But....we don't watch almost any current TV shows, save a couple. NCIS has about worn out it's welcome here. Sick of replacing all the white, normal people with blacks, Muslims and lesbians, etc. We still watch Blue Bloods, and it is still pretty good.
Literally nothing else on regular TV gets watched in our house. Some reality TV shows like "Forged in Fire" and "Mountain Men", and more recently "The Repair Shop" from England is fun, since I could do a good bit of the repairs, although the teddy bear restorers and the lady who does the ceramics.....are awesome. The clock repairs, wood working and metal working...I think I could match much of their work, but still a lot of fun.
Jay Leno's Garage is good, but we have no idea who most of his "celebrity guests" are. Mike Rowe's "How America Works" is excellent, as usual with Mike on board. And old movies, especially westerns, still finding some new ones that we never saw, or some that we last saw in 1965 or something.
So....the rest of "TV land" is not something we bother with, so mostly have no idea who these 'celebrities' are.

RIP Gilbert Gottfried. Even though you always squinted like you needed glasses, I always thought he was funny.
Even though he was replaced as the voice of the "AFLAC" duck...he will always be the best and original "AFLAC" voice to me.

He passed way too young at only 67. He was a brilliant and gifted comedian and will be sorely missed.

This makes me truly sad. He was funny to us older folks, and that now included those were were kids back when Who Killed Roger Rabbit was the hottest thing going. I babysat two non-English fluent children for a day or so and we watched that film for hours. I believe their fluency improved greatly by the next day. (I take no credit for that.) But they later told me they researched all the actors who did the voiceovers.

He was an annoying little guy but a great entertainer. My favorite routine he did was on Married With Children when he was in a lifeboat trying to keep people's spirits up. A total riot.

Gilbert Gottfried giving an absolutely straight reading of an explicit "sexy" passage from that execrable "Fifty Shades of Gray" book was one of the funniest things I've ever heard in my life. I thought I'd popped my spleen, I was laughing so hard.

I got to see him performing live back in the late 80s (I think). He did a hilarious routine about standing outside of the Red Cross, yelling "what do you want from me? Blood?"
RIP Gilbert. You were a true Aristocrat.

Serious heart problems all of which are adverse reactions to the vaccine. He was jabbed twice and probably boosted twice. Another vaccindent I’m sure.

Never heard of him but RIP. My TV is one stupid commercial away from being thrown out the window. I'm down to reruns of Big Bang Theory, no blacks and hilarious academic/scientific nerd humor. Last Man Standing is always good and the black guy adds a lot to the program because he is funny, smart and was on there long before the epidemic of woke started. It's not just me, the BET network is going bankrupt and the new black shows are failing because apparently they don't like their own stuff. Black commercials all come out of the same mold, people shouting while eating fast food and fat women dancing in their underwear. I thought commercials were supposed to entice you to buy a product.

This is sad news. The first time I heard Gilbert Gottfried was in Beverly Hills Cop 2 as accountant Sydney Bernstein. The scene with him and Eddie Murphy is hilarious. He was part of that era of great TV and movies and stand up comedy. Now all three aren't worth paying good money for as too many people are offended by things and have too many agendas. May he rest in piece and my condolences to his family.
