Late on Friday night, when most of us were either sound asleep or out kicking off the weekend with some partying, Democrats at the Illinois statehouse in Springfield were busy trying to save their jobs by bullying owners of gas stations.
In the wee hours of Saturday morning, lawmakers in the Land of Lincoln put forth and passed a controversial and probably unconstitutional bill requiring gas stations to post stickers on their gasoline pumps. The stickers will laud the efforts of the Democrat-controlled legislature by stating the following;
“As of July 1, 2022, the State of Illinois has suspended the inflation adjustment to the motor fuel tax through December 31, 2022.

As French voters head to the polls this Sunday in the first of what is expected to be a two-round presidential election, polls suggest far-right leader Marine Le Pen is zeroing in on incumbent President Emmanuel Macron.
Le Pen, who has worked to soften her image since the 2017 election and appeal to France's moderate base, has seen a surge in support in recent weeks with one poll showing the two in a dead heat for the presidency in a potential runoff with Le Pen receiving 49% of the vote compared to Macron's 51%, according to a YouGov and Datapraxis poll published Friday.

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Georgia’s first-term Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, along with five other House Republicans who are up for reelection this November.
Greene and Jordan have been outspoken Trump supporters, standing by their claims of election fraud in the 2020 elections.
“She doesn’t back down, she doesn’t give up, and she has ALWAYS been with ‘Trump,’” the former president said in a statement through his Save America PAC, calling Greene “a warrior in Congress.”
“She loves our Country and MAGA, its greatest ever political movement,” Trump said. “Marjorie is running for re-election to Congress, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

American politics and the governments produced by it are generally considered to be driven by what happens in the so-called “center.” Conventional wisdom states that it is the highly coveted independent and undecided voters that determine electoral outcomes. Each party has its base, and to gain power they must try expanding that base and pulling voters from the center into their columns. But a poll released last week may put that philosophy on its ear with a seismic shift in opinion from a key demographic.
College-educated white liberals are arguably the most loyal group within the Democratic Party’s base, but others are critical as well,

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has grabbed up a huge stake in Twitter, making him the social media giant's biggest shareholder just days after questioning its commitment to free speech.
Musk's purchase, revealed in a Security and Exchanges Commission filing published on Monday, gives him a 9.2 percent ownership stake, according to the Financial Times. At Twitter's current valuation, Musk's purchase likely cost nearly $3 billion. It comes after a poll Musk posted on Twitter sparked speculation he was considering buying Twitter or launching his own social network.

It is one thing when China brutally suppresses dissent in Beijing. It is more troubling when it does it in Hong Kong. It is even more troubling when it sends agents to Dubai to harass and intimidate Chinese nationals in foreign countries such as the United Arab Emirates. But to harass and spy on a Chinese American U.S. citizen on U.S. soil is an altogether different matter. That is why last week’s announcement of arrests by the Department of Justice of three Chinese nationals for “stalking, harassing, and spying on U.S. residents” on behalf of China’s secret police is so alarming. Former President Donald Trump is entering a crucial phase of his lordship over the Republican Party, with four primaries in four states poised to decide his fate as a feared power broker.
Candidates Trump has endorsed for governor in Georgia, for the Senate in North Carolina, and for the House in Wyoming, plus his planned endorsement for the Senate in Ohio, hold the keys to the former president’s standing as the undisputed leader of the Republican Party. Losses in any of these key nominating contests would embolden Republican politicians to buck his directives

One of the more remarkable aspects of our modern culture is the phenomenon of having two liberals as some of the loudest voices for conservativism. Elon Musk – who up until five minutes ago was a darling of the left for his efforts against climate change – is now public enemy #2, behind only a certain former president, of course. And Bill Maher, who openly espouses socialism, is suddenly the voice of reason against wokeism. Go figure.
Indeed, Maher is not a conservative. But he is a liberal in the classic sense, which means that he adamantly opposes cancel culture and is open to reason.

With November’s midterm elections approaching, Michigan voters are hesitant to reelect Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
An MRG-commissioned Michigan poll found that only 34% of the state’s voters support Whitmer’s reelection, while 59% are open to supporting someone else for governor come this fall.
“The people of Michigan are sick and tired of politicians saying one thing and doing another and will not forget Whitmer's policy decisions that have hurt them, despite her attempts to gaslight the public,” Eric Ventimiglia, executive director for Michigan Rising Action, told the Washington Examiner.

The number of teenagers identifying as transgender has exploded. Advocates say it protects young people from marginalization. Some experts, however, many of whom consider themselves survivors, warn against treating adolescent confusion with drugs and surgeries that have irreversible physical and psychological effects. In the second part of this series, the Washington Examiner speaks to the mothers affected.
Abby Martinez tried to fight back when a Los Angeles school, county social workers, and an LGBT group sought to transition her confused 15-year-old daughter.

In this installment of their weekly Sunday Six conversation, PF Whalen and Parker Beauregard of The Blue State Conservative discuss the six Congresspersons who best represent the term ‘Republican In Name Only,’ aka the dreaded RINO.
#6: Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL)
Parker: This crying traitor doesn’t even deserve that “R” behind his name here. I am not even sure he deserves to be called an American for that matter. The fact he takes an oath to uphold the Constitution is beyond me.
Does anything really need to be said about him? While he has never done much for the conservative, limited-government movement,

Liberals in Congress are pressing President Joe Biden to invoke emergency powers to push ahead with Democrats' climate change agenda and to put new restrictions on fossil fuels, even while gasoline remains at its highest per-gallon price on record.
With legislation stalled in Congress, the nearly 100-member Congressional Progressive Caucus released a slate of policy recommendations Thursday for Biden to pursue, calling on him to use executive action to deal with a list of topics his "Build Back Better" agenda sought to address, including the development of more green energy technologies and placement of restrictions on new fossil fuel production.

Can't wait for November.
