More than 500 officers with the already depleted city Department of Corrections are still refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and remain on unpaid leave. On Nov. 8, 2021, the American Heart Association (AHA) journals published the abstracts that researchers and clinicians would present during online scientific sessions beginning on Nov.13. The scientific sessions are rigorous events, and content must be submitted and selected. One of the abstracts published in the journal Circulation dealt with mRNA vaccines and cardiac health. When Twitter users tried to share the information in the abstract, people interested in reading it encountered a warning that it could be an unsafe link.
Astonishingly, Twitter content moderators feel emboldened to censor information published in a journal maintained by a well-respected, mainstream professional association. Further, the data appeared

The Rittenhouse trial is over, and despite the belligerent efforts of the national mob, a young man was rightfully spared. The loudest among the mob may have been the prosecutor, corporate media, and the president of the United States, but the most insidious was Big Tech.
The men and women who run Silicon Valley could not have been clearer on where they stood. They were relentless in their campaign to derail Rittenhouse’s trial, undermine his constitutional rights, and permanently defame his character.
The shift in Big Tech’s “values” is as marked as it is troubling. In a few short years, a handful of innovative American companies that loved this country

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) issued a statement Wednesday on the Supreme Court case Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, where she said the Court has the responsibility to “honor the Constitution” and uphold abortion rights.
The Dobbs case, as I’ve been covering, surrounds the constitutionality of a 15-week abortion ban in Mississippi. Dobbs is the first case in decades with the potential to overturn landmark cases Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which gave women the right to an abortion.

The discovery of a set of bones roughly 200,000 years old — those of a relatively recent ancestor to modern humans — is helping scientists determine the "archaeological signatures" of the long-vanished archaic human species. The bones belonging to a member of the Denisovan offshoot of hominins have "expanded our understanding of Denisovan and Neanderthal interactions, as well as their archaeological signatures," an international team of scientists said in a report filed late last month.

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) assembled a Rules Advisory Committee (RAC) earlier this week to address a permanent indoor mask mandate in the state. Oregon is one of a few states that still retain one nearly two years into the pandemic. The committee included several community stakeholders, including representatives from the hospitality industry, the business sector, and faith communities, according to local ABC affiliate KATU. Dr. Paul Cieslak, the medical director for communicable diseases and immunizations with OHA, explained to KATU that OHA's potential "permanent" indoor mask mandate is not necessarily permanent because it can be repealed. Last September, a drama teacher met two black theater students in a Coastal Carolina University classroom. The students wanted to bring back segregation, AKA: They wanted to do their drama, with anyone who wasn’t white. The teacher dutifully wrote the dictated names of non-white students on a whiteboard. When the teacher left, the names were still on the board.
Then, the real drama started. Shortly thereafter, other SOCs (students of color) walked into the classroom. They were thunderstruck to see names of SOCs on a whiteboard.
Racism! The list of names. It’s in, black. The board…WHITE as a KKK hood.

New York CNN said Saturday that anchor Chris Cuomo has been "terminated" by the network, "effective immediately."
The announcement came after an outside law firm was retained to review information about exactly how Cuomo aided his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, when the then-governor was accused of sexual harassment.
CNN said in a statement: "Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week pending further evaluation of new information that came to light about his involvement with his brother's defense. We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately."

Or is it a cross between COVID and HIV?
I shouldn’t say “a cross,” as that’s overstating what happened here. Researchers in Massachusetts looked at the new variant’s genome and found a weird quirk. It contains a tiny bit of genetic code that hasn’t appeared in any previous variant of SARS-CoV-2 but does appear in other coronaviruses, including one associated with the common cold. How did that happen?
Their theory is that the coronavirus that causes COVID and some other virus were present and replicating in patient zero at the same time. Remember the (very) old Reese’s commercial, “you got your chocolate in my peanut butter”?

One of Richard Nixon’s defense lawyers claimed recently that Tricky Dick didn’t receive due process because “the prosecutors cheated.”
Now Geoff Shepard, 76, has filed an official complaint of attorney misconduct with the federal Department of Justice against Watergate prosecutors — 47 years after the fact.
He revealed the Oct. 2 filing this week. Among its charges: prosecutors improperly met privately with Watergate trial judges, even “rehearsing” court proceedings ahead of time; suppressed exculpatory evidence; and even lied to the grand jury.
And when they were done, Shepard, the author of “The Nixon Conspiracy,” claimed they “wrongfully” took confidential files, in violation of DOJ policy.

It’s already been detected in Europe and Canada, and the inestimable Dr. Anthony Fauci opines it’s a matter of “when” not “if” it’s a major factor here in the U.S.
With Pavlovian predictability, the Democrats have shifted into an even higher “Vaccinate Now!” overdrive gear. This new strain is being used as the latest club with which to pummel recalcitrant vaccine resisters into shame and submission.

Murdering the Unborn Child is a practice as old as mankind itself, but that doesn’t make it a moral practice or something acceptable with any real justification. The Democratic Party’s century long advocacy and support for Baby Murder doesn’t make it more palatable, since their reasons have long been based on premises beyond immoral, as they have yet to be able to acknowledge that an embryo is a living being, while they also have pulled a non-existent “right to abortion” from thin air, largely due to a January 22nd 1973 Supreme Court ruling on Roe v. Fredo Cuomo’s suspension from CNN is so improbable, the choice was an easy one. On Tuesday, November 30, a 15-year-old boy allegedly used a firearm belonging to his father to open fire on classmates, killing four students. The morning of the attack, school administrators met with the boy’s parents and showed them disturbing notes found that day indicating the boy was willing to do harm to himself and others. The boy also was caught searching for ammo on his phone just days before the shooting.
But, rather than disciplining the child, the school simply gave the parents the option of pulling him out of class or leaving him in school following a meeting with school officials.

State guard forces are nothing new and nothing exciting. Indeed, even Wikipedia has an honest and temperate description of them. It explains that they are military units that operate under the aegis of the given state’s governor. Unlike a state’s national guard forces, they cannot be federalized. (You may recall how the Democrats called national guard forces to D.C. in January so there’d be someone there to witness the inauguration of our current (p)resident.)

I regret to inform you that Dr. Anthony Fauci is upset. The most destructive domestic force during the COVID-19 pandemic, in my opinion, wants Lara Logan of Fox News to be disciplined. Why? Because Logan had the audacity to offend Fauci’s sensibilities with a Nazi comparison.
Apparently, the rules have changed and now comparing a government official who has an authoritarian bent, dismisses constitutional concerns, and loves power to a member of the Third Reich is off-limits or something.
Here was her comment, which requires a bit of nuance if you want to understand what she’s saying.

Not all relationships end in “happily ever after,” and birds are no exception. While more than 90 percent of bird species form monogamous couples, many of these will end in divorce. The reasons for splitting up are as varied in birds as they are in humans, and often revolve around things like poor compatibility or slacking off by one partner. However, new research has found a surprising cause of divorce: climate change. Like many seabirds, black-browed albatrosses form monogamous pairs that can last for the entirety of their 70-year lifespans. However, just under 4 percent of these couples will separate

Michigan’s Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said Friday if the school had included resource officers in meetings with parents over concerns of violence, his office would have taken action to be sure the alleged Oxford High School shooter had no access to guns.
KPTV reports that Oxford school superintendent Tim Throne made clear that the school had not reached the point of actually disciplining the shooter prior to his attack.
Throne said, “No discipline was warranted. There are no discipline records at the high school.”

For anyone paying attention to the abortion rights case just argued before the Supreme Court, it would be hard to miss the deep emotional passion of Justice Sotomayor in defense of Roe v. Wade. The justices heard arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health over a Mississippi law that prohibits termination of pregnancies after 15 weeks. Lower courts have found the ban plainly unconstitutional due to the half century of legal precedent since Roe and put it on hold. While hardly alone in her knee-jerk attachment to the faux constitutionality of Roe, neither she nor the other liberals on the Court can address

Jussie Smollett’s trial is lit AF, although none of us can see it since it’s not being broadcast on television or YouTube for some unknown reason. Hoaxer Smollett’s attorneys seem to be the perfect match for him and are now accusing the judge of “lunging” and “snarling” at them, even calling for a mistrial over how they allege the judge is acting. If that sounds far-fetched, you’re not the only one who thinks so. The New York Post had a reporter in the courtroom. That reporter didn’t see the alleged lunging.

In a Friday press release by the Kyodo News Service, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare warned of myocarditis and pericarditis issues related to the mRNA COVID vaccines. (snip) the Japanese health services have determined that the mRNA vaccines may cause serious heart issues, and they are now alerted and gathering data on this issue. This follows many reports from small media outlets of athletes collapsing and some even dying after being vaccinated (see links to several such reports below). These reports were dismissed by the mainstream media, the administration, big business, and other leftists as unreliable.

For nearly a year the Biden “presidency” -- whoever they are -- has subjected the United States to a destructive revolutionary agenda of unprecedented scope and virulence, all of it arising out of an irrational civilizational death wish for which there is no historical parallel.
No more than a small minority of Americans knowingly voted for this.(snip) the only question worth asking is how, if at all, a counterrevolution of sanity can be mounted and succeed.
Surprisingly, there is real hope. That hope lies in two stubborn centers of resistance that remain: nearly 50% of the American electorate, judging by the 2016 and 2020 elections; and the Republican Party.

According to a document obtained by the New York Post, the answer is yes … at least in the past tense. A legal services contract revealed that the Department of Justice under Merrick Garland had opened a civil-rights probe relating to multiple allegations of sexual harassment by Andrew Cuomo.
Is the investigation still underway, though?
The feds are following state and legislative authorities in probing the sexual harassment claims against former Gov. Andrew Cuomo that forced him from office, The Post has learned. The stunning revelation of a separate Department of Justice investigation

The Bidens were on Biden time last night as they arrived at their designated spot for the National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. They were late. They were late enough that the host of the ceremony held on The Ellipse in President’s Park south of the White House had to ask the audience to re-do their applause after the First Couple’s introduction.
Last night was the 99th annual National Christmas Tree lighting. Is it too much to ask that Biden’s keepers get him outside on time to flip a switch? Apparently so, and it turned out to be a moment more awkward than usual for Sleepy Joe.

The bad news about the Omicron variant is that it’s spreading quite rapidly in South Africa and has already appeared in other countries, including the U.S. In South Africa, new reported cases of the coronavirus have spiked from about 250 per day a month ago, to about 2,500 per day a week ago, to 11,500 yesterday. In three days, new coronavirus cases have nearly tripled, due to the emergence of the new variant.
The tentative good news about this variant is that so far it doesn’t seem to be causing highly serious illness.

I used to think that Australians are a freedom-loving people, but that has turned out not to be true. Crocodile Dundee is dead; Pajama Boy now rules.
For many months, Australia has labored under one of the world’s most extreme, and most destructive, shutdown regimes. Its national and state governments have pursued the irrational dream of banning a virus from their shores. Good luck with that: it isn’t going to happen.
So, for the last year and more, Australia has been home to demonstrations, protests, and often extreme state responses to those demonstrations. Vaccine hysteria and masks are bad enough, but Australia actually has camps

Initial results are in and the western monarch butterfly is making a comeback. In California, researchers are seeing 50 times more monarchs at overwintering sites this year compared to last. "To have this many this year, is just, I'm jumping out of my skin excited," said Craig Corwin of Arroyo Grande. (skip)
There are more than 22,445 monarchs at the Pismo State Beach Butterfly Grove.
"Last season, we saw just around 200 at our peak," (skip) In 2013-2014, there were 34,000 butterflies in Pismo Beach. In 2016-2017, it dipped to 20,000 and in 2018-2019, there were a little over 4,300.
