New York Magazine will soon be releasing a book of essays extolling the many virtues of Rep. Alexandria-Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), including her “making of the Green New Deal” and “the role that her beauty plays in her public perception.”The book will not be published until February 1, 2022, according to its Amazon description. It will be an “engaging, all-encompassing biography” of the openly socialist congresswoman while aiming to be “in the bestselling tradition of Notorious RBG and Pelosi that explores her explosive rise and impact on the future of American culture and politics.”
A group of 2,000 migrants and asylum seekers marched off from the southern Mexico municipality of Tapachula across from the Guatemalan border overnight Sunday in the latest in a series of caravans setting out for the United States.The caravan is the fourth to form in the state of Chiapas since Friday and had advanced approximately 15 miles, reaching the town of Huehuetán, a witness told Reuters. Police are investigating a series of fights that broke out at Terminal 2 of the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport just before midnight Friday. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) reiterated that he will not institute any coronavirus restrictions in the Sunshine State based on media buzz over the newly-discovered Omicron variant.

A judge blocked the federal government on Monday from mandating COVID-19 vaccinations for health care workers in Missouri and nine other states.
U.S. District Judge Matthew Schelp in the Eastern District of Missouri wrote in his ruling that regulations handed down by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid earlier this month were issued improperly. The agency did not get approval from Congress to mandate vaccinations for health care workers, Schelp wrote, which he argued was necessary given the mandate's "vast economic and political significance." The rules were also issued without a standard period for public comment, which Schelp said the agency's justification for was not suitable.

Jury selection begins Monday in the trial of Jussie Smollett, the actor who allegedly falsely claimed he was the victim of a racist and homophobic hate crime.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is stepping down as chief of the social media company, effective immediately. Parag Agrawal, the company’s chief technology officer, will take over the helm, the company said Monday.
Dorsey, 45, was serving as both the CEO of Twitter and Square, his digital payments company. Dorsey will remain a member of the Board until his term expires at the 2022 meeting of stockholders, the company said.

What a weekend. Lots of quality time with family, including crossing something off of my sports fan bucket list. Walnut Creek police and city officials warned businesses Sunday that the same group of thieves that targeted a Nordstrom at Broadway Plaza on Saturday night may try to steal from shops again in the next few days.
While the thievery threat is unconfirmed, and a specific location and time remain unknown, police who are “actively monitoring intelligence” said in a community tweet that businesses “may consider closing early or taking other precautions … out of an abundance of caution.”
According to the tweet, the Walnut Creek police are calling out additional officers and reserves.

DEL RIO, Texas—Border Patrol agents in Del Rio apprehended more than 250 migrants crossing the Rio Grande in a single group.
