Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., sparked a backlash Monday after she claimed in a tweet that she and fellow protesters were fired upon by White supremacists during the racial unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, several years ago.
Bush was commenting on the ongoing murder trial of 18-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, who faces life in prison for shooting three men, two of them fatally, during the 2020 riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Jury deliberations were underway Tuesday as Kenosha businesses braced for potential riots following the verdict.

New York is battling its worst COVID-19 outbreak since spring as the number of reported cases jumped to a fresh seven-month high. Despite a high vaccination rate, the state’s seven-day average of positive cases is up to 5,438, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. That’s the worst it’s been since April 22, when a spring surge was dying down and the vaccination drive was just getting into high gear. Worse still, the number of cases in the Empire State has risen by a third in the past week alone, suggesting the resurgent pandemic will continue to spread in coming days and weeks.(Snip)New York boasts a 68%

When Kamala Harris considers movie titles that make people think of her, she probably goes straight to “Wonder Woman.” I have news for her: Every time she opens her mouth, people are wondering, “What Planet Are You From?”
It’s pretty clear everyone in the White House hates her and is blame-leaking to every reporter around in hopes of emerging from this explosion in the stink-bomb factory without carrying any failure fragrance.

The nation's top infectious disease expert says he believes the definition of being 'fully vaccinated' against COVID-19 in the U.S. could change to include booster shots. Currently, any American who has received both shots of the two-dose Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines, or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, is considered fully vaccinated. But Dr Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said this may need to change to include extra doses. 'In my opinion, boosters are ultimately going to become a part of the standard regimen and not just a bonus,' he told Axios on Tuesday.

The Biden administration is readying to buy 10 million courses of Pfizer's COVID-19 pill to try and finally get ahead of the ongoing pandemic in the United States, a report revealed on Tuesday.
Those doses would be distributed within the country rather than allocated to other countries. The White House is expected to make the announcement this week. That pill and another one by Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics have been hailed as potential 'game-changers' in a pandemic that's lasted more than a year and a half by curbing hospitalizations and deaths linked to the coronavirus.

Kyle Rittenhouse on Tuesday morning picked his final 12 jurors by pulling assigned numbers out of a raffle-style drum. With 18 jurors left, the defendant was asked to randomly pull six scraps of paper from all the assigned numbers of the jurors. The six he drew were asked to be alternates, who will likely not be used, the judge said, but could be in theory. (Tweet) The leftover 12 will decide the fate of Rittenhouse, who’s on trial for double homicide and has pleaded not guilty to all counts, citing self-defense.

What with middle-class Americans starting to reject the woke rule of the educated and credentialed class, does that mean America is ready for a new “fusionism” -- a combination of traditionalism and capitalism of the kind put together by Frank Meyer under the patronage of William F. Buckley half a century ago? That’s what Donald Devine asks at the American Spectator in “Is Conservative Fusionism Dead or Simply Confronting Changing Times?”
And he has a book out, The Enduring Tension: Capitalism and the Moral Order, that according to Amazon’s “look inside,” digs into critiques of capitalism and the western social order in Rousseau, Marx, Locke,

LOS ANGELES — President Joe Biden announced a deal last month to establish around-the-clock operations at the Port of Los Angeles, the nation’s largest, to break an unprecedented container ship traffic jam blamed for driving up consumer prices. Joe Biden managed to drag the infrastructure bill across the line. It’s really the only thing he’s done so far that he could even argue as a win to his base. Of course, to most on the right, it’s just one more boondoggle to support the Democratic agenda and Biden was only able to get it with the help of Republicans. But how is the signing of it playing generally with the public?
While many support the bill because they know the U.S. needs help with infrastructure, they’re not giving Biden or Democrats any bump in the polls from the passing of it.The House passed the bill earlier this month,

The American landscape is littered with so many ongoing and predesigned crises, as well as the never-ending falsehoods and illegalities of the Biden Administration, it is nearly impossible for the average American to keep up with all the facets of the Covid-19 quagmire. As the propaganda arm of the Democrat party, the so-called “mainstream media” is regurgitating the approved government talking points, herewith is an update.
Once in office, Joe Biden and his administration openly and vociferously claimed that once people are vaccinated, they would not be susceptible to Covid-19. In this same timeframe the media, the CDC and the pharmaceutical companies

Since August, when the debacle in Afghanistan ripped away the veil and enabled many to see the real Joe Biden — not through an approving media filter — we’ve seen a cratering of his approval across the board on all major issues. Media may have been able to spin up until that point but once Americans saw how incompetent he was, how he lied about everything, and most importantly, left Americans and Afghan allies behind — many of whom are still there — it wasn’t something they could unsee and it opened many eyes about the “experience” of Joe Biden.

Rarely does anything in the news surprise me anymore, but consider today’s happenings an exception. In an explosive development, a whistleblower has delivered an email to Congress proving that Attorney General Merrick Garland lied under oath while testifying on Capitol Hill some weeks ago.
As RedState reported at the time, Garland’s statements surrounding the targeting of parents as “domestic terrorists” simply did not add up, with his mix of denialism and unwillingness to address the issue only adding to the suspicion that the DOJ had and continued to act improperly.
Now, these new documents deliver a decisive blow to Garland’s previous assertion

For two months, I have argued that Joe Biden’s disgraceful abandonment of Afghanistan and several thousand Americans provided the catalyst for a confidence-crisis cascade. Now it appears that Democrats might finally see it for themselves. The Hill’s Alexander Bolton reports that the Democratic mood on Capitol Hill has grown gloomier about their midterm prospects, which contributed in part to Patrick Leahy’s decision to retire:

We noted here a WaPo/ABC poll that showed Republicans with a 10-point lead among registered voters on the generic Congressional question. That was the widest GOP lead in the 40-year history of that poll, and one might have suspected that it was an outlier.
But today, Rasmussen Reports released even more remarkable results. Rasmussen finds the GOP up by 13 points, 51%-38%, on the generic Congressional ballot, among likely voters. Republicans lead by 22 points among independents. With 17% of independents undecided, that lead could grow. Also notable is that 30% of blacks say they would vote Republican if the election were held today.

With the jury quietly tucked away deliberating Kyle Rittenhouse's fate, decorum outside the Wisconsin courthouse dissolved into angry protests on Tuesday with the arrival of BLM activists and Second Amendment enthusiasts. The jury has now begun deliberating whether or not to convict the teenage gunman, whose case has divided the nation. Rittenhouse, now 18, was 17 when he shot dead two white BLM protesters at a riot in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last August, and injured a third. His lawyers say he was a scared boy acting in self-defense, eager to protect the town as it fell under siege from an angry mob.

This is what bitcoin does. It booms and crashes.
It could as easily be $20,000 as $80,000 in the next few weeks up to Christmas.
Bitcoin and Ethereum are most spectacularly volatile assets. They are trader paradise.
Now I’ve written about bitcoin being digital gold for years but it is not exactly like gold, and while it does a better job than gold as a haven asset it isn’t an inflation hedge like gold.

Hamtramck has elected an all-Muslim City Council and a Muslim mayor, becoming the first in the US to have a Muslim-American government. Once faced with discrimination, Muslim residents have become integral to this multicultural city, and now make up more than half its population.

Ultimately, it was the sun in his eyes. Surrounded by other sharpshooters, scraggly-beareded Toni Hacki lifted his long rifle and took aim across the Ruetli meadow where Switzerland was founded in 1291, just as he had done for the past 51 years. But this time, his performance didn't live up to his standards, and he decided it would be his last. (Snip) Hacki wore a thick button-up leather jacket. The barrel of his gun was wooden.

Has Kamala Harris grown so irrelevant the White House doesn't even notice her anymore?
Sure seems like it, based on this White House ceremonial blooper: (Snip for tweet) The occasion was the vaunted signing ceremony for Joe Biden's $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, hailed by the press as a "much needed win," "fulfilling campaign promise," and a "significant political victory." amid grand comparisons to FDR's New Deal. Joe "finally gets the 'big effing deal'" crowed Politico. Kamala herself campaigned for the porky measure, in one of the very few things she's done beyond posing for Vogue photo shoots,

China kept silent Monday over growing concern for tennis star Peng Shuai, who has not been heard from since accusing a powerful politician of sexual assault -- the first time the #MeToo movement has struck at the top echelons of the ruling Communist Party.
The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) called Sunday for Peng's claims to be "investigated fully, fairly, transparently and without censorship", and current and former players have taken to social media to express fear for the safety of the former Wimbledon and French Open doubles champion.

Being wrong is a tough pill to swallow. Tougher for some than others.
Admitting you’re wrong, particularly when you’re the President of the United States, can be even harder. Even more so when everything you do turns into a disaster and your really boneheaded decisions lead to crisis after crisis. From the border crisis to the price of oil to rising prices and a supply chain disaster, Joe Biden’s presidency has been an abject failure from the beginning.
Toss in the reality that Joe Biden never met a buck he failed to pass. The guy who is quick to take credit for the successes

A scion of the Bush family is lending his influence and family name to boost a Chinese government contractor blacklisted by the U.S. government for its links to the Chinese military. Neil Bush, the son of President George H.W. Bush, is a cosponsor of the International Symposium on the Peaceful Use of Space Technology that begins Nov. 18 in Beijing. Three co-chairmen of the forum are executives with the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), a state-controlled contractor that builds China's military and space equipment.

A recently introduced Oklahoma Senate bill may allow employees of government and private entities to file lawsuits against their employers for as much as $1 million over health problems associated with vaccines or other forms of medical treatment.
State Sen. Rob Standridge, a Republican, said in a statement that Oklahoma employees would be able to sue their employers over medical issues connected to operations or treatment as a condition for employment.
“If an employee is required to receive the vaccine or some other medical treatment as a condition of employment and it causes that person harm, our citizens need to know they’ll have some recourse that will provide them with meaningful relief,”

During a signing ceremony for the infrastructure bill on Monday, President Biden praised the governors across America he worked with as vice president in the Obama administration—“save one.”
He then took a potshot at former Gov. Sarah Palin without naming her, explaining, the one who "can see Alaska from her porch.”
Biden got the “Saturday Night Live” joke completely wrong, given that he should’ve said Russia, not Alaska. Palin lives in Alaska so obviously she can see Alaska from her porch.

How many federal agencies do we pay for? I bet you think, as I once did, that a quick internet search would tell. But researching for an essay a couple of years ago, I found numbers varying from 78 to 158, and websites saying the exact number was impossible to determine.
Looking at the USA.gov website recently, I discovered a tab for Federal Agencies A to Z (actually there are none past W). Scrolling around the list for two days, subtracting duplicate listings, like Useless Policy, Office of and Office of Useless Policy, I counted 456

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel emailed an apology Monday evening to the GOP's 168 committee members, acknowledging she could have done a better job communicating a new initiative to recruit gay voters that upset some in the party's Christian evangelical base.
McDaniel's email was sent a few hours after she tried to quell a rebellion inside her ranks, holding a conference call with RNC members that delivered talking points supporting the new GOP Pride coalition but refusing to take questions. She blamed the risk that news media members may have dialed into the call for skipping a Q&A.

ORLANDO, Fla.—Gov. Ron DeSantis delivered a blistering critique of President Joe Biden and his authoritarian policies, warning Americans they need to fight against the radical left to preserve our freedom.
Speaking to roughly 800 supporters of The Heritage Foundation and its grassroots partner, Heritage Action for America, DeSantis took aim at Biden’s recently announced COVID-19 vaccine mandate. (Snip)
“If the federal government can get away with this, they’re going to be able to get away with a lot more,” DeSantis, a Republican, warned in his Thursday speech. “Next year, maybe it’s something you care about, or two years from now. It’s important that we take a stand,

In America, a medical ethicist says it’s fine for primary care practitioners to refuse to treat unvaccinated people. In France, older people who don’t get their boosters will be denied access to amenities. And in Austria, unvaccinated people will be confined to house arrest. For a disease with a minimal mortality rate for healthy people under 60, the race to otherize them continues unabated. President Joe Biden’s administration is facing a daunting reality check after claiming for months that their spending agenda will “cost zero dollars,” with the head of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) saying the White House drastically overestimated the revenue the IRS could gain by cracking down on tax loopholes.Biden and numerous other senior Democrats in the White House and on Capitol Hill have repeatedly insisted that their $1.85 trillion social spending package will add nothing to the national debt. They argued the package included enough pay-fors to offset the spending programs. CBO chief Phillip Swagel brought that claim down on Monday, however, saying that the tax loophole

Medical experts are speaking out against Covid-19 vaccine “detoxes” that some inaccurately claim can remove the effects of vaccinations received under mandates and other public health rulings. In one TikTok video that has received hundreds of thousands of views, Carrie Madej, an osteopath based in Georgia, falsely claims a bath containing baking soda, epsom salts and the cleaning agent borax will “detox the vaxx” from anyone who has received a jab.(Snip)Angela Rasmussen, a virologist and adjunct professor at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, told NBC News: “Once you’re injected, the lifesaving vaccination process has already begun.
