Animal rights organization PETA has called for Major League Baseball to "strike out" the word "bullpen" in favor of "arm barn" because, as the organization claims, the current term is a reference to a "holding area where terrified bulls are kept before slaughter."
"Words matter, and baseball ‘bullpens’ devalue talented players and mock the misery of sensitive animals," PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said in a press release. "PETA encourages Major League Baseball coaches, announcers, players, and fans to changeup their language and embrace the ‘arm barn’ instead." [Tweet]

Okay, PETA, don't single out MLB. Go after those who watch the stock market and who refer to a "bull market" and a "bear market."

About 98% of what I see attributed to “PETA activists” looks like either a right-wing set-up or Babylon Bee satire. And then I realize it’s almost always real PETA Activists’ commentary on whatever really has them worked up at the moment. Thankfully, sane people ignore their rants about 98% of the time also. The word “bullpen” is safe. As for the crazies who get worked up over designating words as acceptable or offensive, I’m sad for them if they cannot find anything useful to do.

I sometimes wonder if PETA is just putting us all on. As one poster said, it’s like The Babylon Bee. Maybe the PETA bunch sits around all day scouring the news for something to be offended about and then laughing when the media spreads their stupid pronouncements and demands.

The word "animal" is offensive to me. PETA please change your name to PETM: People for the Ethical Treatment of Mammals".

#1 If they managed to change the "bull" and "bear" designation, PETA would be killing two birds with one stone.

PETAis worried about what MLB calls something but remained totally silent about Dr. Fauci"s Beagle butchery funded experiments. PETA needs to reexamine their priorities.

Apparently PETA has felt left out with all the media attention being paid to COVID and politics in general, so they poked their heads up out of their prairie dog holes.

Doesn't matter, I will never be there to see it. An organization that would deny people access to safe and honest elections is un-American. Go ahead, be woke and broke if you like. Now, about those horsehide balls you play with...

Reiman, don't waste your time. "Bullpen" is here to stay. And incidentally, Reiman, in western Colorado where hunters abound, PETA means "People who Enjoy Tasty Animals".

Meanwhile, I have not heard a single word from PETA condemning Dr.Fauxci and his funding of torturing beagles by removing their vocal cords, confining them and then letting them be eaten alive by flesh-eating insects. PETA, forget about stupid word shaming and let us in on your concern for the ethics of animal torture.

If they're going to ban the word bullpen, then we need to ban the words home run.
It's insensitive to the homeless and those, because of disabilities, can't run.

PETA do something useful go after Fauci for mistreating/torturing 40 Beagle dogs for vaccine experiments. That would be a good useful task for you leave my baseball alone, goofballs.

I always thought "bullpen" was used to liken it to the pen where a rodeo bull is kept before its turn to have cowboys try to ride it. The slaughter context never occurred to me, since the cattle being slaughtered generally aren't the bulls.

Anyone else see the stench of hypocrisy coming from this statement by the biggest animal killers in the nation? Anyone who has had dealings with what PETA refers to as an animal shelter run by them can tell you they kill animals and do not bother to try and find the owners who are missing their pet.

Why is PETA wasting time on foolish junk like this. What have they done about the torture and cruel killing of beagle puppies by laboratories that took money (tax payer money) from Fauci. Why don't they speak out and protest those cruel, evil acts.
