Anti-gun actor Alec Baldwin shot a woman
to death

Preliminarily, it is tragic that 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins, a rising cinematographer in Hollywood, died yesterday on the set of Rust, a movie being filmed in Santa Fe, New Mexico. My thoughts are with the loved ones she left behind. Having said that, I cannot escape a feeling that karma had a hand in this one because the finger on the trigger of the gun that killed Hutchins belonged to Alec Baldwin, a hysterical leftist who is fanatically opposed to the Second Amendment. To give a sense of Baldwin’s hostility to gun rights, in 2018, the smug and constitutionally illiterate Baldwin had some harsh words for Dana Loesch, an NRA spokeswoman

I dont like him either. He's way too Hollywood and has the ego to prove it. I fear this will make him even more rabid as an anti gunner. "If this could happen to me, it could happen to you in the unwashed, unwoke masses."

Gun advocates are serious about gun safety. Will we ever know how live rounds got into the gun? I have not had firearms training but I was strongly emphasized to me--at a young age--that you never point a gun at anyone you don't intend to kill.

What many people and particularly gun idiots like Alec Baldwin don't understand is that the plastic wad in a blank fired at close range can kill someone just as dead as a bullet. Is this what happened? Too soon to tell but I wouldn't be surprised.

A few missing pieces to the puzzle from the initial report. As an aside, the initial reports are always wrong. A few thoughts: A true “prop gun” is just that; a prop. No moving parts, made of plastic or rubber, and made to look like the real thing. Some prop guns can fire pyrotechnics to simulate the muzzle burst. However, what Baldwin allegedly used was an actual working firearm. Since the set is a Western, let’s assume he fired a revolver modified to fire blanks. What gets a little sketchy is how he fatally wounded the cinematographer AND wounded the director on set. This can’t be part of the scene. My take: more will come out in the days ahead. Manslaughter? Perhaps. Not versed enough in the nuances of NM law on the legal consequences. At a minimum, IMO, Baldwin’s career is effectively over. The man is now a pariah in media circles He has to live with this for the rest of his life as well.

There are few confirmed facts known about this incident. No one knows for sure that Baldwin pulled the trigger. A Daily Mail article said, “his prop firearm unintentionally discharged.” Later in the article, an actor was quoted, 'I can’t even fathom how this is possible. So many people had to be negligent. This is a crime. Halyna was a tremendous talent. I’m sick to my stomach.' So, we’ll have to wait. In this matter I think the truth is going to come out.

Accidents like this should never happen and this one is more stupidity and neglect than an accident. Still, it could not have happened to a bigger jerk than Baldwin. Good point #10. I've never actually seen stats on this either but I do know that discharging a 12 ga dog blank from two feet will blow the wad right through 5/8" dry wall. Many people think rhat because it's a blank it can't hurr anyone so proper gun safety can be ignored - bad thinking all around.

If the gun had blanks only a shooting at close range could injure someone. That said it shows how anti gun liberals have no respect for weapons and don't know that a gun should never be pointed at anyone unless you intend to use it. Bottom line...Baldwin, an anti gun advocate has now killed/injured more people with his prop gun than I ever did with my real guns.

If Alec Baldwin would have shut up for five minutes and learned how to handle a gun, this would never have happened. You don't play around pulling triggers nor do you ever aim a gun at anyone unless you have to. The prop guy has some explaining to do also. Especially when he knew he was dealing with that smart ass Baldwin.

#3 puts this in to perspective. Why is Baldwin pointing a gun at the staff and pulling the trigger? No way that's part of the script. Rehearsing a scene perhaps. Baldwin will use this as a reason to ban guns. Always assume the gun is loaded. If its not loaded, what's the point? The gun becomes the equivalent of a rock.

I'm an expert on this issues having watched hundreds of old movies on TCM. There is usually a prop person who inventories and provides the items necessary on the set. Once it's on the set however, anyone could have inserted a real cartridge. Just the same, as a gun owner, I would have checked it myself before I aimed it at anyone.

Two people shot. That seems to be difficult to do with a single "blank". A blank fired, even at 2-3 feet distance, while unsafe, is unlikely to be fatal at that distance. Blanks that have killed in the past were fired at an inch or two from a head, one by a foolish actor "jokingly" pretending suicide, which turned real. Another had an object in the barrel. The object in the barrel could only fire once, seems unlikely it wound two people. Fire two shots at people at a range of inches? Doesn't seem reasonable, either. The only way I can imagine two individuals shot is either multiple live cartridges in a gun, so injury at longer range, and multiple real shots fired, or possibly a shotgun being used, and a single live buckshot shell. It could spread enough to wound two people at 20-30 yards. This sounds like somehow live ammo go onto a movie set, which I thought was very strictly prohibited. I was involved in a very detailed engineering investigating a military training accident where live ammo was fired through a machine gun that was modified to be unable to load or chamber live ammo, yet it did. No one was shot, even though it fired live ammo and bullets passed with in a foot of people. Idiots can be ingenious.

Re #13. No modifications are needed to a revolver to fire blanks. In fact, essentially all the old western movie guns (revolvers, lever action rifles, manually operated shotguns) were perfectly functional if live ammo were used, but were just loaded with blank ammo. Semi-autos and machine guns typically need to be modified to function with blanks, although most can still chamber and fire a live cartridge. Some military and government security service training guns are physically modified to prevent live ammo from being loaded or fired. I have worked on the engineering design of these modifications for such training guns.

I'm having trbl with this one, too #40. I've actually been hit by a wad fired from about three feet. It hurt but it was far from fatal. Still I can conceive of a scenario where the first shot caused a minor injury and the second shot, much closer, caused the fatality. It's really hard to believe live rounds got into the prop gun but this is Hollywood and Alec Baldwin and as you've said "idiots can be ingenious".

Odd, while its been awhile the armors and pyro guys I've worked with were anal about safety and would only load what was needed for that "shot" and then lock up until needed again - no way would a prop gun (or functional) be left "on set' (most "talent"/"actors" are spoiled children in adult bodies and need to be treated as such!)

Kevin Stitt for his remarks asserting there are only two genders and that “there is no such thing as non-binary sex.” Democratic State Rep. Mauree Turner claimed it was difficult to have a working relationship with someone like Stitt who opposes “your existence.” “If you have to work with people who adamantly oppose your existence, right, to the point to where we can’t work together, you can’t talk to me, you can’t talk to me like I’m a human being, you don’t see me, that damages anyone’s working relationship,” the first Oklahoma lawmaker to identify as non-binary told Fox25.

President Biden, just hours after taking the oath of office on Jan. 20, ordered all federal agencies to examine their policies and deliver a report within 200 days outlining any “structural racism” they found. Nine months later, more than two months past Mr. Biden’s deadline, the White House won’t say how many reports it has received or what information it has found. But a survey by The Washington Times of a dozen departments and agencies revealed widespread concerns about the government shortchanging people of color, including in farm aid, visits to national parks and the disbursement of unemployment benefits. The president’s order gave agencies until Jan. 20 to recommend ways

Welp, guess who’s in trouble with lawmakers, again? Make that still. Yup, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the emerging and infectious diseases “expert” has been implicated in a series of taxpayer-funded, animal-testing experiments. Beagle puppies, that is. This time, a bipartisan group of lawmakers is demanding answers. According to the White Coat Waste Project (a watch group committed to stopping taxpayer-funded experiments on dogs, monkeys, cats, and other animals), as reported by Daily Caller, 44 beagles were used in the experiments conducted in a Tunisia, North Africa, laboratory. Some of the dogs reportedly had their vocal cords removed, allegedly so scientists could work without incessant barking.

Going back to the 2020 presidential campaign, right-leaning media has been well ahead of the curve in asking serious questions about President Joe Biden’s mental health. As his presidential term has aged, things have only gotten worse, with numerous scenes of confusion and anger taking place. Just days ago, the president appeared to forget where he was, having to be saved by his wife (see Jill Biden Steps in to Save a Confused, Meandering Joe Biden). Other examples include Biden seemingly unable to control his anger at times, including with the families of slain soldiers. Past that, odd word salads and bumbling speeches

Check your privilege, especially if you used your right hand to open this article. That's according to a presentation at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that has gone viral. Using one's right hand as the primary mode of grappling objects "makes life easier" and gives one more "opportunity" and "advantage," according to the presentation. It also said being right-handed apparently makes one have a sounder "sense of belonging" in the world. The lecture took place Monday, Newsweek reported . It has garnered more than 2,600 "likes" on a popular Twitter account. (Tweet) The presentation was part of training

A leading US conservation group, the Audubon Naturalist Society (ANS), has announced it will change its name, due to the “pain” caused by the 19th-century ornithologist and slaveholder John James Audubon. The group, which holds wildlife sanctuaries across Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland, said that it had become clear its name did not connect to its diverse set of programmes and that some members and volunteers had objected. “The mission and vision of the organisation have not changed,” said Lisa Alexander, executive director of ANS. “The deliberate and thoughtful decision to change our name is part of our ongoing commitment

Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday that coronavirus vaccines could be made available for 5- to 11-year-olds early next month. During an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” Dr. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said the Food and Drug Administration and its advisory committee are set to meet Oct. 26 to consider an application from Pfizer and BioNtech to start the rollout of the children’s vaccine. A regulatory decision could be handed to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the following week. “So If all goes well, and we get the regulatory approval and recommendation from CDC, it is entirely possible if not

The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday suggested that the definition of what constitutes being “fully vaccinated” may change as boosters become more commonplace, echoing a move handed down several weeks ago by Israeli officials. For now, in order to meet the CDC’s criteria for being “fully vaccinated,” one has to have two shots of either the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson’s. “We have not yet changed the definition of ‘fully vaccinated.’ We will continue to look at this. We may need to update our definition of ‘fully vaccinated’ in the future,”

Evil is a very strong word, when used properly. Merriam-Webster defines it many ways, the most relevant to what I’m talking about being “morally reprehensible” and “arising from actual or imputed bad character or conduct.” That is the modern left, the “progressive movement,” the “Democratic” Party. And to fight evil, to stop it, is the most important thing anyone can do.What justifies the use of “evil” as a descriptor? It’s a dangerous word to use, one that has been abused throughout history to demonize innocent people as well as condemn the guilty. But there is no other word for what these people are doing, both in tactic and objective.

Any failure by the Cop26 summit in Glasgow to deliver an agreement on future trans-national climate controls could plunge the world into chaos, sparking migration crises alongside food shortages, political disorder and war, the U.N.’s top climate official warned Sunday. Patricia Espinosa, executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, made her bleak prediction ahead of the opening of the convention on November 1.As some 30,000 people from 197 different countries ready to fly in to the meeting, she warned: We’re really talking about preserving the stability of countries,

NEW YORK — With computer-generated imagery, it seems the sky’s the limit in the magic Hollywood can produce: elaborate dystopian universes. Trips to outer space, for those neither astronauts nor billionaires. Immersive journeys to the future, or back to bygone eras. But as a shocked and saddened industry was reminded this week, many productions still use guns — real guns — when filming. And despite rules and regulations, people can get killed, as happened last week when Alec Baldwin fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins after he was handed a weapon and told it was safe. The tragedy has led some
