Check your privilege, especially if you used your right hand to open this article. That's according to a presentation at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that has gone viral. Using one's right hand as the primary mode of grappling objects "makes life easier" and gives one more "opportunity" and "advantage," according to the presentation. It also said being right-handed apparently makes one have a sounder "sense of belonging" in the world. The lecture took place Monday, Newsweek reported . It has garnered more than 2,600 "likes" on a popular Twitter account. (Tweet) The presentation was part of training

I'm the worst of the the worst, white male, right handed, nonimmigrant, heterosexual, married only once with children, former military, law abiding, user of traditional pronouns, non-mask wearer, and Christian. I must somehow atone upon the altar of wokeness.

What are the victim idiots going to do if they ever run out of deficiencies? I think being able to attend college is a privilege that needs to be addressed!

Will we need to tear down all statues of right handed people and put up statues of left handed people to assure left handed equity? If leftys are 20% of the population will we now need a left handed quota? What about left handed minorities? Should they get reparations immediately due to the discrimination they've had to endure?

A few years ago, the University of Washington did a study of handedness. The researchers found that at birth everyone is right-handed...but only the great ones overcome it.

Correction.....way more actors than a random group of people are left handed, it may still not exceed 50%.

Some people just don't have enough to worry about. Now we have to feel guilty if we're right-handed?? Oh please.

Well, I don't know about this. If any of you have a Roku or Roku TV you will notice the remote, it is very awkward to use with your right hand, you are constantly hitting the mute or volume buttons. It was made for a left hander! Obviously Roku thought deeply about right handed privilege and thought to do something about it,lol.

Reminds me of a 'hand' joke while I was at NC State -
UNC and NC State fans using the bathroom. The UNC fan admonishes the State fan for not washing his hands after using the urinal. State fan says to the UNC fan - 'I don't pi$$ on my hands'.

Our family of 7 (5 kids, 2 adults) produced 4 southpaws. My mother was one, and then three of the five children. I am one of the three. I struggle to even hold a pencil correctly with my right hand as it tends to fly out on its own. And if I try to write with it, my brain short-circuits and I don't know how to make my letters. The only way I know how to write legibly with my right hand is to write backwards, aka mirror-writing. I can write with both hands at a time doing this, with even my signature looking identical backwards.
I have trained myself, out of necessity to use scissors with my right hand, but that's about it.
Finally, if the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and the right side controls the left, then only left handed people are in their right minds!! ;)

OK, true that only 10% of people are lefthanded, and of that "10%" only 10% are female. We had a Library near our house and once the conversation about lefties came up while checking out books... of the 6 female librarians in that place ALL were lefties! That should be a record of sorts, and might say something about the wiring of the brain.
What is truly rare are truly ambidextrous (ambidextral) people. They constitute less than 1% of the population. (( https://www.rd.com/list/facts-ambidextrous-people/ ))
In full disclosure, I'm left-handed writing and throwing a baseball, but I bat and play golf right-handed. Perhaps a bit of "ambi," not sure.

In advanced handgun training, and in some competitions, shooting "weak handed" was taught, and required for parts of the competition.
Initially, I was concerned about being able to even hold on to the gun safely with "the wrong hand", not even considering the issues of aiming and precisely squeezing the trigger quickly and repeatedly under timed competitive pressure.
40 years later.....I still am not nearly as quick and accurate with my non-dominant hand, but I have zero doubt that if my dominant hand or arm was disabled or occupied holding a child or something, that I could do well defending myself. You can train yourself to use your 'weak hand' well, but it is scary/humorous at first. It's a useful skill that I teach to all my mid level and advanced handgun students.

poster #12, that's true about athletes also.
Poster #19, same here. I'm left-handed and 3 of our five children are also. You can buy scissors for left-handed people. It's fun to watch the right handed use them and complain. Payback time.
Poster #20, I also bat right-handed but throw left-handed. My dad had a hard time finding the right baseball glove for me way back in 1960 when I started playing soft ball in 7th grade. I still have it. I think the reason I bat right handed is when we used to play in the street when we were little, all the other kids picked the bat up with their right hand and batted that way so I just followed suit. I was a lousy batter, though I was a great outfielder.

Long ago I learned that my life expectancy was reduced somewhat by being male, left handed and over 6’3”. Add female (xx), right handed,” normal person” to the privileged list?

Generally, 10% of a population is left-handed, and about 10% of any left-handed population is female.
I don't see myself a minority; I see myself as an elite.

Being a complete bundle of recessive traits, I diligently pursued adaptive strategies.
Thus have I achieved a tenuous, delicate imbalance of bi-lateral ineptitude.
This allows me to fumble almost equally well w/ both hands. :)

Well, I am right handed but a bit ambidexterous. What does that signify? Is that the same as men being able to be pregnant? I object as a woman that men can appropriate pregnancies now. What about those who are Vegans? Are they victims too?
What is really unfair, is that I, as a woman, cannot stand up to pee. Now that is a travesty! I truly am a victim.
