Progressive Democrats in the House of Representatives, led by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, are threatening to blow up a bipartisan infrastructure agreement if the Senate does not pass a $3.5 trillion reconciliation package.
Ocasio-Cortez claimed on Sunday that she had “more than enough” votes to tank the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which Democratic Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and Republican Ohio Sen. Rob Portman introduced last Monday. Sinema pledged on July 28 not to “support a bill that costs $3.5 trillion,” leading Ocasio-Cortez to imply that she deliberately created an all-white group of senators to negotiate the package.

An executive order signed quietly by Tennessee’s Republican governor is troubling some Americans as it greenlights the National Guard and State Guard to implement quarantines and involuntary commitment of citizens “in connection with certain health care and emergency services operations,” with the governor specifically concerned about “an increase in COVID-19 cases.” Gov. Bill Lee signed Executive Order 83 on Friday “with little fanfare” according to Tennessee Stands, an influential conservative coalition. The group says it found some of the provisions in the executive order “exceptionally concerning,” including:

One of the many traps into which conservatives routinely fall is thinking that their ideological opponents don’t fully understand the nature and the consequences of the ruinous policies they advocate. Cries of, “don’t they realize that…” and “surely they can see the hypocrisy” fill the air as the well-meaning but utterly naïve Right tries to make sense of the rabid, foaming Left and its dynamic plan for “direct action,” that is, force and violence. Cuomo, whose term ends Dec. 31, 2022, has ignored calls for his resignation as the state Assembly pushes ahead with the impeachment process, which lawmakers said could take weeks.

Former congressional candidate Matt Mowers on Friday attacked New Hampshire Democrats for attempting to cancel the state’s motto, “Live Free or Die.”
“Following @ChrisPappasNH‘s lead, the Liberals are once again trying to cancel Live Free or Die. Live Free or Die isn’t just a slogan on a license plate — it’s our way of life in the Granite State. We won’t let them cancel New Hampshire,” Mowers wrote about Rep. Chris Pappas (D-NH) and the Democrat Party. [Tweet]

As word got out that 700+ COVID super shedders were adjusting party hats in preparation for the "44-at-60" ass-kissing-fest on Martha's Vineyard, to quiet critics, Obama announced he was "scaling back" the Obamapalooza to include just "close family and friends."
For regular folks like you and me, the words "close family and friends," usually means Grandma, the kids, and a boxed Duncan Hines birthday cake.
But not for Shelley and Barry. As seaplanes full of victims of institutional and structural racism descended on Martha's Vineyard, "scaled back," became the most disingenuous parsing of words since "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."

We the People wine has produced a viral ad that is so powerfully American it blows almost every single thing the Republican Party has done right out of the water.
That is according to political heavy-hitters and viewers who not only sent the video viral, but expressed shock that such an impactful visual display of patriotism didn’t come from people seeking a vote, but from a wine company using their voice to stand for their principles.
The advertisement uses a poignant speech from former President Ronald Reagan juxtaposed perfectly with modern clips of the left-wing assault on our cities in the form of riots and demand to defund the police.

One-in-five Americans say they have lost friendships over disagreements on the Chinese coronavirus, a daily YouGov survey updated Friday found.
The daily question surveyed 5,219 U.S. adults on August 5 and asked, “Have you lost any friendships because of differences in opinion related to the COVID-19 pandemic?”
Twenty percent of respondents said they have, 68 percent said they have not, and 11 percent indicated they remain unsure.
When broken down by party lines, nearly one-quarter of Democrats, 24 percent, said they have lost friendships, compared to 15 percent of Republicans.

A New York Times reporter received backlash on social media after making a comment on another network that critics believe dismissed concerns about former President Obama’s star-studded maskless birthday party over the weekend.New York Times White House Correspondent Annie Karni discussed the controversy surrounding Obama’s much-criticized Martha’s Vineyard celebration where he was seen not wearing a mask and used the term "sophisticated" crowd, saying that the guests were "following all the safety precautions."

Kamala Harris’ record so far has been so disastrous that top female allies held a “crisis dinner” last month to try to stop the bad p.r. Yet their problem isn’t the press; it’s Harris. As Axios reported, the dinner was meant to plan how to defend the veep and her chief of staff, Tina Flournoy, amid claims of a toxic office climate and what some say is sexism. It was organized by Kiki McLean, an adviser to Bill and Hillary Clinton, and featured former Obama communications director Jennifer Palmieri, Harris confidante Minyon Moore, Biden adviser Stephanie Cutter and Hillary Clinton spokeswomen Karen Finney and Adrienne Elrod.

Among some groups, one of the main criticisms of recent state election reform efforts has been that they are racially motivated, intended to keep minorities from voting. New polling data from I&I/TIPP show Americans once again sharply split on the issue.
The I&I/TIPP Poll asked the following question: “To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement: State election reforms like voter ID laws are racist.”
The results are decidedly mixed. While a plurality of 45% agree

When I signed up for the Marines in ’78, I had no clue what I was getting into. I just wanted to get out of my hometown. After a few minutes at bootcamp, I wanted to go back.
It was too late.
There was only way out now: 13 weeks through a humid, swampy, mosquito-infested chunk of Hell at Parris Island, S.C. – a God-forsaken place where tidal salt marshes breed habitats of pestiferous biting flies. The worst? Blood-sucking sand fleas.
Around 1 a.m., the bus carrying about 60 of us parked beside a platoon of yellow footprints at the recruit depot.

Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-DBag) is the Mayor Pete Buttigieg of the Republican Party. If you read his Wikipedia entry, it appears as though he was fashioned and groomed for political office. Not that Wiki is the most credible source, but it’s good for a timeline: and his timeline shows that there was an agenda in mind long before he ran for office.
His own Congressional biography and a puff piece by Fox News also confirm the Wiki timeline. Kinzinger followed the “upper crust” trajectory of preparation for political life.

Bobby Bowden did it all.
Not only did he put Florida State on the map by taking the Seminoles from afterthought to dynasty, he left an indelible mark on the game with a rare combination of coaching acumen, gracious demeanor and a compassion for those he coached and competed against.
The beloved, folksy Hall of Fame coach who built one of the most prolific college football programs in history died early Sunday at 91 at his home in Tallahassee, Florida, surrounded by his wife Ann and their six children following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Bobby’s son, Terry, called his passing “truly peaceful."
