NEW YORK CITY—Just as New York City restaurateurs thought they would perhaps see their way out of crushing COVID-19 restrictions and back to “normalcy,” the city’s government dealt out another blow: Restaurants will now have to check customers for proof of vaccination, or themselves face fines.
In response, restaurant owners seem to have flocked to one of two positions. Some support the rule as long as it prevents more lockdowns, while others reject it as an unreasonable imposition on their already vulnerable operations.

The Biden administration’s strategy to universally vaccinate in the middle of the pandemic is bad science and badly needs a reboot.
This strategy will likely prolong the most dangerous phase of the worst pandemic since 1918 and almost assuredly cause more harm than good – even as it undermines faith in the entire public health system.Four flawed assumptions drive the Biden strategy. The first is that universal vaccination can eradicate the virus and secure economic recovery by achieving herd immunity throughout the country (and the world). However, the virus is now so deeply embedded in the world population that, unlike polio and smallpox, eradication is unachievable. SARS-CoV-2 and its myriad

Of course, anyone that knows anything about the platform and the round it shoots knows that’s nonsense, but still, when someone of a leftward persuasion shoots one, hilarity often ensues. That’s what was on tap when Kevin McCallum, writing for Seven Days in Vermont, decided to share his experience shooting an AR-15 at an indoor gun range. Facebook has shut down the personal accounts of a pair of New York University researchers and shuttered their investigation into misinformation spread through political ads on the social network.
Facebook says the researchers violated its terms of service and were involved in unauthorized data collection from its massive network. The academics, however, say the company is attempting to exert control on research that paints it in a negative light.
The NYU researchers with the Ad Observatory Project had for several years been looking into Facebook’s Ad Library, (Snip)The access was used to “uncover systemic flaws in the Facebook Ad Library,to identify misinformation in political ads,(Snip) study Facebook’s apparent amplification of partisan misinformation,”

A coalition of housing groups led by the Alabama Association of Realtors on Thursday filed a lawsuit in federal court in Washington, D.C., challenging the latest eviction moratorium, calling the Biden administration's action "nakedly political" and "unlawful." "[T]he CDC caved to the political pressure by extending the moratorium, without providing any legal basis," the emergency motion says. "In substance and effect, the CDC’s latest action is an extension of the same unlawful ban on evictions that has been in effect since September 2020."
"Justice Kavanaugh’s controlling opinion was clear that the CDC could not extend the moratorium past July 31 absent ‘clear and specific congressional authorization (via new legislation),'"

Reading PJ Media the other day, I discovered to my shock that, without my knowing it, I’ve somehow become a violent extremist. As a result, the social media giants Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, and YouTube are determined to eradicate my nefarious presence from the interwebs. I don’t know when this particular boom will be lowered on me, if ever, but if my website Jihad Watch and I suddenly disappear from your daily Internet reading, you’ll know that our intrepid self-appointed protectors are working night and day to keep you safe from violent extremism, and are to be commended for doing so.

The Biden administration’s ‘totalitarian’ move to extend the eviction moratorium means the head of the CDC ‘will now decide who can live in your home, under what circumstance, and for how long,’ Tucker Carlson says. The Fox News host on Wednesday blasted Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the CDC director, as ‘just a college professor’ who ‘you’d almost certainly never heard of before this year.'Rochelle Walensky now makes the laws,' Carlson told his viewers on Wednesday.

Many people have looked at what is taking place in Australia with jaws agape. Indeed, if there exists any system of western democracy that has taken more stronger totalitarian measures during covid than Australia, they are not easily identified. There were reports in early 2020 of the United Nations organizing 5-stages of COVID lock-down plans, with “stage-5” being the most restrictive; and the Australian government agreeing to be the beta-test for the fifth stage; the ultimate police state. If true, that explains the incredibly undemocratic and authoritarian controls triggered by the government down under.

If you think you are being kind, compassionate, or polite as a mask-wearer, please take note of this column. After the CDC and the Biden administration again ignored science and recommended or re-imposed foolish mask mandates and the like, numerous municipalities and organizations eager to bow to — or afraid to ignore — left-wing dictates, went along with the latest round of Wuhan Virus absurdities. Walmart, Target, Publix, Chick-fil-A, and the like have again forced the unsanitary and unhealthy face diapers upon their employees.Apple has gone a step farther and is requiring customers in half of its stores — the ones in so-called "COVID hotspots"

The Mexican government on Wednesday sued several U.S. gun manufacturers, alleging that they contribute to illegal gun trafficking to Mexico.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. federal court in Boston. Among the defendants named in the suit are Smith & Wesson, Barrett Firearms, Beretta U.S.A. and Colt’s Manufacturing Company.
The companies did not immediately respond to CNBC’s requests for comment.
The gun manufacturers are accused of negligent business practices that facilitate smuggling guns to Mexico and cause “massive damage” to the country. The lawsuit alleges that they knowingly supply the criminal gun market in Mexico in particular, saying the companies’ military-style guns often

To anyone even remotely acquainted with events of the last year and a half, it should be no surprise that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is being asked now even by his own party to resign. What’s disturbing is that Democrats didn’t do it sooner.
After being the media’s most coddled, falsely praised politician in America, nearly impervious to any and all criticisms, a new report alleges that Cuomo engaged in serial criminal behavior while governor.

THOUSANDS of Marines and sailors are taking part in the US Navy's largest war games in 40 years as Washington "prepares" for a future world war amid rising tensions with Russia and China. Fleets began the Large Scale Exercise on Tuesday and the drills across 17 time zones will continue until August 16. Forces will participate in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the exercises are designed to show the US' "readiness" for a potential global conflict. Marines’ ability to conduct operations in difficult environments will be tested during the drills, according to Military.com.

Nic spent most of her childhood avoiding people. She was raised by a volatile father and a mother who transferred much of the trauma she’d experienced onto her daughter. The combination left Nic fearful and isolated. “My primitive brain was programmed to be afraid of everybody, because everybody’s evil and they’re gonna hurt you,” she told me. (Nic asked to be referred to by only her first name to protect her privacy.)
Nic’s fear isn’t uncommon in a country where valid lessons about “stranger danger” can cast all people you don’t know as threats to be feared, but she recognized it was unhealthy

Ali is concerned about America's trend toward "wokeness," which she said is all about stoking division.
"It divides us into people of different races and it says that these racial differences are irreconcilable and then divisions along gender, along transgender, along immigrants …

One of the residual effects of last year’s chaotic election is the palpable fear of former President Trump that still haunts the Democrats. Their congressional antics, from the absurd post-election impeachment to the parodic House investigation into the Jan. 6 “insurrection,” confirm that they are still very much afraid of the man (snip) This has nothing to do with any threat Trump or his supporters pose to the republic, as media alarmists insist. The actual source of Democratic trepidation can be found in their lackluster performance in the 2020 presidential and congressional elections combined with Trump’s clear intention to become very much involved in boosting Republicans in next year’s midterms.

As the Biden administration continues to peel away the accomplishments of his predecessor, what I hear most from family, friends, and social media posters is a fear that Democrats have become power-mad with their recent ascendancy to a majority position in the House and Senate. They wonder if the current crop of radical officials is hell-bent on weakening, and ultimately destroying, the country that gave them those positions. Beginning with reversing President Trump's southern border policies, which has led to an invasion of illegal aliens unprecedented in our history, to the shutdown of the Keystone pipeline

Given Santayana's warning to those who forget the past, there yet remains the problem of what to remember. Events during the summer of 1932 have frequently been remembered to promote some political cause. What follows is an outline of the incontrovertible facts that create their own perspective. (snip) In May of 1932, about 300 veterans, led by Walter W. Waters, entered the yard of the Union Pacific Railroad in Portland, Oregon; refused to leave until they were allowed to ride in empty boxcars; and started on their way to Washington, D.C. to "lobby" for the immediate payment of their "bonuses."

Although Vice President Kamala Harris refuses to acknowledge it, we indeed have a humanitarian and criminal crisis along our southern border. Since the Biden administration hastily reversed Trump-era policies that had dramatically slowed the pace of illegal immigration, cartels have been working overtime to recoup the human smuggling income they lost during the Trump years. According to US Border Patrol sources, the going rate to be smuggled over the border is $10,000 a person, and there’s no guarantee that the smuggled will arrive healthily or even arrive at all.
Such was the case Wednesday morning when a van carrying 30 people (yes, you read that correctly) crashed
