Best Buy is continuing to build its investments towards supporting Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) entrepreneurs, as the company announced on Thursday an investment up to $10 million with Brown Venture Group.
The venture capital firm focuses exclusively on Black, Latinx and Indigenous technology startups in emerging technologies.

Would be interesting to know what sorts of shakedown tactics were employed to extract this.

So they would rather invest in people that steal their products
over the ones that pay for them.

Always had high prices and horrible customer service. Won't miss them at all.
They might as well have set the $10m on fire. It's already hard to hire quality people in tech and get the company off the ground. But cutting out all white and Asian people is just suicidal.

The Best Buy near my house hardly ever has any cars in the parking lot. I have long wondered how they have stayed in business this long. So over-priced, even when things are on sale.
However, clearly they are doing so well that they can waste money on this racist welfare project. So apparently they no longer need my money (since this sounds very racist to me). And if I owned stock, I would be raising holy hell about how they are wasting their profits on this racist welfare program!!!

I still don't know what Latinix is. Most Hispanic people I know don't know either. Also, isn't anyone born here an "indigenous " person? Why is this discriminatory fund needed? Are BIPOC people unable to complete the same loan forms as White and Asian applicants? If people can't figure out how to complete financial forms and work with financial people without special treatment, what makes them think they can handle a technology business?

With enough time and enough invested capital, maybe one of these BIPOC start-ups can invent the wheel, start a fire, or come up with an alphabet. Their ancestors could not.

I can buy the same stuff 100 different places. Sorry, Worst Buy. I prefer to spend my dollars with companies that aren't virtue signaling arseholes.

Who does most of the shoplifting at Best Buy, contributing to operating losses? Just kidding, we all know it's the universally despised WHITE Christian folks. And why does the newspaper fail to capitalize People of Color, given that they founded and built this nation (or so the story goes)?

Was in there today - minimal shoppers, scaled back inventory.
But they can order what I was looking for and I can receive it in 6 weeks.
Fun fact, off topic-I have been interviewing since our government got me laid off last year. I am not 20, nor a waitress or barista and pay my mortgage. Professional with an MBA. These companies that introduce themselves, first thing into the interview, as equity, inclusion and all the other woke words are pathetic. Like mask wearing, it shows me who the weirdos are. Not only will I not work for you but will not buy your product. They think they are getting intel on us, well news flash, back at ya. Adios Progressive Insurance.

I stopped doing business with them since 2015 and never looked back.
Crappy stores, crappy products, not that price competitive, and are on the left side of politics and social issues.

Amen, poster 5. Brown Venture Group will probably have little to show for Best Buys' investment. A few million dollar homes for some of the staff, maybe.

I'll bet when the post-mortem is done, 95% of that spending will be a total waste. You can't teach people to be entrepreneurs by throwing money at them.

On my last visit to BB before the 'Vid, one of the notable conversations overheard was two, young, white sales clerks sharing their mutual disgust at the "inequity" of wealth distribution in America. They didn't seem to take any issue with the Illegal Aliens in town who drive new, $50,000 trucks to their construction jobs. Or the multitude of unremarkable White Women getting free rides through college because they're willing to suit up and play an arcane, armature sport. No, it was those darn, Rich White Guys that are ruining it for everybody.
