After the 2016 election, a flurry of reports noted Donald Trump’s election was breathing new life into our decaying media industry now that they had important work to do, in a quest to save America from tangerine-tinged fascism. Via NBC News, here’s an update on how that’s working out at one of America’s prestige publications:
Nicholas Thompson, the chief executive of The Atlantic, gave a presentation to employees last month in which he disclosed some uncomfortable truths about the state of the magazine.
Subscription growth, which had skyrocketed in 2020 thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic and the presidential election, had come back down to earth.
Well it seems only fair. Most Americans are hemorrhaging money under Xiden.

I thought it said "Atlanta" Did it occur to the printed media that these little leftist can't read or care about anything but themselves ? Try buying your favorite magazine today.
Maybe they should appeal to the ones getting monthly checks from Uncle Joe.

It is owned by Steve Jobs widow and she can bleed a lot of cash. The Atlantic is not going anywhere unless Lurlene gets tired of it.

Skyrocketing from subterranean is faint praise, smoke and mirrors based on gilded doctrinaire boilerplate from a parade of credentialist posers.

t's not only the media, pro sports has been devastated by over 30% in "important" games and even worse in regular attendance and viewership. Hollywood insiders are admitting that the movie industry is all but defunct due to the collective wokeness of actors as well as producers and directors. Record low award show viewership proves the general loss of interest. Woke corporations are seeing lost business and name brand products that went all in for the George Floyd sainthood are suffering. Disney is in a panic and has chosen to increase prices to make up the losses, a really bright strategy. It's not nice to fool American Patriots, knuckle-dragging flyover country folks and domestic terrorists, that's where all the money is.

I don't celebrate a business losing money, but at the same time I will not feel bad for a far left rag, a propaganda outlet being in trouble. They brought this to themselves.
I only feel bad for those who work there and have no other choice.

The Atlantic considers itself a thoughtful, intellectual magazine for a highr class of people. It is easier for them to be against Donald Trump than to write an intellectually honest article for Joe Biden and his destructive policies. Also, the PBS crowd that reads the Atlantic probably expects a new tote bag or other gift to renew their overpriced subscription.

I look for signs of light within the USA, the FACT that people are turning away from the TV News, newspapers and political rags, gives me hope.
People aren't buying the lies anymore, literally.

I'd love to see the New York Times and the Washington Post go broke.

From the article regarding the Atlantic's demise: "Left unsaid, of course, is how foregoing all sense of ethics, propriety, restraint, and good judgment possibly hurt their business model."
Someone needs to tell the Marxist media that ceaseless lies and distortions are not a good "business model," but of course they can't help themselves. They are consumed by hate.

I was wondering, and I think I even commented about it here, why the Atlantic recently had a couple of articles which were logical, intelligent and almost conservative in nature. Now I know.
Too late, Atlantic.

I feel pretty sure that if not for government subsidies, PBS would be in the same situation as The Atlantic. When will government subsidies to the Democratic Party (PBS) mouthpiece stop? It would be a travesty even if they were honest brokers.

Are you "journalists?"missing President Trump yet... I'd say YES in capital letters... CNN/fredo and Georgie stefoie and lying Brian Williams are in a panic... and let's not forget Lester bolt... they have nothing to report... and their regulars are getting bored with the View ...a group of angry and unhappy women...and ohpra's attempt to damage the British royal family is the topper....and stupid Hollywood is giving her an Emmy for her contempt of people more admired and revered by the British people...including Americans...

Somewhere, someone is deriving some share of $50 million "lost" by The Atlantic. Enterprises are often just a vehicle for tax "loopholes" and other perks. Run a company into the ground, then sell at a "loss", and the next group of tax grifters buys. Didn't WaPo sell for peanuts? Time magazine for $1?

The sooner the demise, the better for journalism overall, especially opinion groups.
