Now, that's a long — and expensive — trip.
A 132-night "world cruise" sold out in under three hours, despite pandemic worries that have hobbled the cruise industry and steep prices that start at $73,499 per guest — and range up to $199,999 per person for a master suite.
Regent Seven Seas Cruises released the fares for sale at 8:30 a.m. ET Thursday. By 11 a.m., all the spots had been snapped up by people eager to spend more than four months on a cruise ship. The strong interest may be a positive sign for the cruise industry

Truckee, Calif. — California Highway Patrol officials in Truckee are issuing a bizarre warning for drivers: Don’t light your car on fire to keep bears away. The CHP posted a picture Thursday of a deputy extinguishing the smoldering remnants of a fire on the hood of a car near an Interstate 80 entrance. (snip) “We are always appreciative of additional fire extinguisher training, but in case anyone was wondering, no you cant light a fire on the hood of your vehicle to ‘keep the bears away,'” CHP-Truckee wrote along with the photo. As California’s population grows, so

Book salesman Michael Wolff joined CNN's "Reliable Sources" on Sunday to discuss the host's performance over the past five years.
MICHAEL WOLFF: I think the media has done a terrible job on this. I think you yourself, while you're a nice guy, you're full of sanctimony. You've become one of the problems of the media. You come on here and you have a monopoly on truth. You know exactly how things are supposed to be done. You know, you are why -- one of the reasons people can't stand the media. I'm sorry.

After a year of lockdown, museums, libraries and bookstores across America are reopening. This cultural reawakening’s beginning coincided with both the Juneteenth holiday and the one-year anniversary of the one of the largest protests in American history against racial injustice. (snip) I want to unmask the lie that evolution denial is about religion and recognize that at its core, it is a form of white supremacy that perpetuates segregation and violence against Black bodies. Under the guise of “religious freedom,” the legalistic wing of creationists loudly insists that their point of view deserves equal time in the classroom.

The Alaska Republican Party endorsed GOP Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka on Saturday, breaking from longtime incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska).
The state party confirmed to The Hill that members approved the endorsement in a 58-17 vote.
Tshibaka said in a statement shared by her campaign team that she was “grateful and thrilled to have the strong support of the Alaska Republican Party,” which she said “voted overwhelmingly to endorse” her. (snip) The former president still maintains substantial sway over the GOP base, and several state Republican parties have taken action against lawmakers who voted for Trump's impeachment.

Classified documents from Britain’s defence ministry containing details about a British warship and Russia’s potential reaction to its passage through the Black Sea have been found at a bus stop in southern England, the BBC reported on Sunday (June 27).
The BBC said the documents, almost 50 pages in all, were found “in a soggy heap behind a bus stop in Kent early on Tuesday morning” by a member of the public, who wanted to remain anonymous. (snip) The BBC reported that the documents, which included emails and PowerPoint presentations, related to the British warship Defender, which this

Everyone in North Korea is heartbroken over leader Kim Jong Un's apparent weight loss, said an unidentified resident of Pyongyang quoted on the country's tightly controlled state media, after watching recent video footage of Mr Kim.
The rare public comment on Mr Kim's health comes after foreign analysts noted in early June that the autocratic leader, who is believed to be 37, appeared to have lost a noticeable amount of weight.
"Seeing respected general secretary (Kim Jong Un) looking emaciated breaks our people's heart so much," the man said in an interview aired by state broadcaster

Inflation is on the run at rates the United States hasn't seen since 1992, and consumer prices in May 2021 were up five percent over May 2020. Americans are paying attention as they experience price surges on basic and essential goods. (snip) Now, new polling from Echelon Insights shows the federal government is being held responsible for the problem as politicians in Washington, D.C., keep printing money for excessive spending.

Washington D.C.: American companies, including Amazon.com, Apple and Nike, came under fire by a U.S. Senator on Thursday for disregarding forced labour allegations in China and making American consumers complicit in Beijing's alleged repressive policies. (snip)
Republican Senator Marco Rubio accused many U.S. companies of "profiting" from the Chinese government's abuses.
"For far too long, companies like Nike and Apple and Amazon and Coca-Cola were using forced labor. They were benefiting from forced labor or sourcing from suppliers that were suspected of using forced labor," Rubio said. "These companies, sadly, were making all of us complicit

TIKTOK has updated its privacy policy in the US so it can collect things like “faceprints and voiceprints” from its users.
The app said it “may collect biometric identifiers and biometric information” from users but would need consent before this data is taken. TikTok has added a new section to its US privacy policy called “Image and Audio Information".
It can be found under the heading “Information we collect automatically”. (snip) However, the creepiest part concerns 'biometric data', meaning body measurements and human characteristic data.
It states: "We may collect biometric identifiers and biometric information as defined under US laws, such as faceprints and voiceprints, from your User Content.

Black model Jodie Turner-Smith is set to play 16th-century Queen of England Anne Boleyn, who was, of course, a white woman. The head-scratching choice tore the Internet apart, many suggesting it amounted to cultural appropriation. [snip] Social media quickly began overflowing with complaints about Turner-Smith playing a white queen. Commenters demanded “historical accuracy” and called it “cultural appropriation” – a term usually used when white people emulate other cultures. Many said that, logically, the Turner-Smith casting as Boleyn should be no more acceptable than a white person playing a well-known black historical figure.

The Walt Disney Corporation has ordered all headquarters employees to attend seminars that inject critical race theory, “systemic racism,” “white privilege,” and “white fragility” into their training. The way that City Journal’s Christopher Rufo describes what’s contained in the whistleblower documents he received from several Disney employees suggests the training regimen is designed to elicit guilt and shame from white employees while falsifying history.
In truth, it’s beyond belief. Disney’s theme parks may be known as “The Happiest Place on Earth,” but you have to wonder for how long.
