Police: Minnesota officer meant

The police officer who fatally shot a Black man during a traffic stop in a Minneapolis suburb apparently intended to fire a Taser, not a handgun, the city’s police chief said Monday. Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon described the shooting as “an accidental discharge.” The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was investigating. “Taser! Taser! Taser!” the officer is heard shouting on her body cam footage released at a news conference. After firing a single shot from her handgun, the car speeds away and the officer is heard saying, “Holy (expletive)! I shot him.”

Congratulations Minnesota. Mission accomplished. An incompetent officer hired for (fill-in-the-Leftist-diversity mantra here) shoots an unarmed man due to mistaking a fully loaded firearm with a taser. This one is on them.

This is why she was supposed to keep her one bullet in her shirt pocket. ... and what ever happened to "stop or I'll shoot!"? He didn't stop, she shot. Escaping custody of a police officer used to mean you forfeit your life. Back then there was far less rabbiting.

Does "very senior" mean she's been employed for a long time, or does it mean she was and officer and (presumably) promoted way beyond her level of competence?

I will wait for all the details BUT... a senior police officer of ANY competence should know simply BY WEIGHT whether he is holding a loaded gun or a taser. I would. If he was actually shot outside a stationary vehicle there's a problem. I would expect him to try to get away from that situation. If he was shot in the vehicle while driving away, since when does evading arrest constitute use of deadly force ? I will give the useless media a week or so to come up with actual facts.

The MPD issued Taser X26 weighs 7 ounces. The MPD issued Glock 17 weighs 30 ounces. THAT by itself should be a huge clue. But some folks do not function well during high stress times. Has this 'senior female officer' EVER been in a real fight before in her entire life? And a pillow fight with her brother at age 11 doesn't count.

Poll of the week: A new Reuters/Ipsos poll finds that 55% of Republicans falsely believe Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 presidential election was the result of illegal voting or rigging. Additionally, 60% of Republicans incorrectly agree that the election was stolen from Republican Donald Trump. These polls are the latest to indicate that Republicans mistakenly think that the 2020 election wasn't legitimate, when it clearly was. What's the point: Republicans have been pushing legislation at the state level to make voting at least somewhat more difficult than it was for the 2020 election. This has come in the wake of polls showing many Republicans doubt the election result. It is unclear

Now, as the trial over his death continues to unfold, criminal justice reform experts and diversity specialists are hoping the case will prompt retailers—from small businesses to major chains—to reassess how they treat Black and other minority customers and how they can handle loss prevention cases more equitably. Retailers, they point out, are on the front lines of racial justice in their own stores. "While interactions with the police
