Sen. Tim Kaine claimed that the United States created the institution of slavery.
During Tuesday remarks on the Senate floor, the Virginia Democrat addressed the issue of accountability in police departments but later claimed that the U.S. created the institution of slavery.
"The first African Americans sent into the English colonies came to Point Comfort, Virginia, in 1619. They were slaves. They had been captured against their will. But they landed in colonies that didn't have slavery. There were no laws about slavery in the colonies at that time. The United States didn't inherit slavery from anybody. We created it," Kaine said.

Hogwash. Slavery has been practiced since the beginnings of civilization. Trans-Saharan slavery has been a reality for at least 1200 years. 95% of trans-Atlantic slavery went to the Caribbean, South and Central America during the rein of the Spanish Empire. The Portuguese and Spanish mariners sailing to the Indian Ocean in pursuit of spices started all that by buying slaves in West African slave markets.

#4 it seems to me I read somewhere that Obama's "people" were of the slave-trading rather than the oppressed type. It is also correct that there were former slaves who became slave owners. I wrote an extensive article last year -- just unbelievable how this could be true, but it is.

So the Jews didn't build cities for Pharaoh? So the Roman gladiators were actually volunteers? So the Muslim slavers who sold Africans all over the world-AND STILL DO-were just a myth?
Tim Kaine is a lying POS who should be struck by a bolt lightning. Racial Pandering at its finest, right there. Stir up the blacks until they go on a destructive rampage, just for political gain. But, when elections end, the Dems don't actually care for blacks . They never did, and don't now.

I'm beginning to think the real origin of such extremist remarks is that they are a socially acceptable way to cover over for knowing nothing at all. You can just yell some stupid slogan and nobody will ask you, what about Central Asia, Ugh about Bukhara, or what about the slave market in Dublin, what do you think of slavery in Mauritania today and what do you plan to do about it? What is your view of the Aztecs and would you rather be fattened in a cage and have your heart cut out and be rolled down the temple and eaten, or would you rather be a slave there? Do you pity the Messenians so weird, no? Quite the story about Epaminondas! No, just be extreme enough about the United States and hope to have it taken for knowing something.

Watta Maroon! Even little kids know that the Egyptians had slaves, long before Rome. The Babylonians held slaves. British held slaves, so we probably caught it from them. As for this idjit, Kaine was only born in 1958 and thinks that history began with him. Heck, by 1958 even southerners were breaking the ''color barrier.'' This man is badly in need of the impossible physical maneuver.

Idiot, he obviously doesn't understand or know history. Prior to the arrival of black slaves on a Dutch ship, see slaves were slaves before they got here, there were white indentured servants who were effectively slaves. They were in theory short time slaves and were supposed to, after a period of time,
be allowed their freedom. The indentured often found themselves serving extended periods of indenture due to a lot of reasons. Initially the black "slaves" were often treated like indentured servants and often released after a period of time to pay back the expense of purchasing them. Gradually as black slaves proved hardier, especially in the hot southern regions they replaced the white indentured servants for most forms of manual labor and as the black population increased the regions restrictions and slavery became what it became a truly racist viewing that Blacks were subhuman thus only good for slavery.

Tim 'the moron' Kaine has obviously never watched the PBS series Wonders on Africa.
http://www.pbs.org/wonders/Episodes/Epi3/slave_2.htm
Domestic slave ownership as well as domestic and international slave trades in western Africa preceded the late 15th-century origins of the Atlantic slave trade. Since most West African societies did not recognize private property in land, slaves functioned as one of the only profitable means of production individuals could own. West Africans, therefore, acquired and expressed wealth in terms of dependent people, whether as kin, clients, or slaves. Moreover, caravan routes had long linked sub-Saharan African peoples with North Africa and the wider Mediterranean and Middle Eastern worlds. Not only was slavery an established institution in West Africa before European traders arrived, but Africans were also involved in a trans-Saharan trade in slaves along these routes. African rulers and merchants were thus able to tap into preexisting methods and networks of enslavement to supply European demand for slaves. Enslavement was most often a byproduct of local warfare, kidnapping, or the manipulation of religious and judicial institutions. Military, political, and religious authority within West Africa determined who controlled access to the Atlantic slave trade. And some African elites, such as those in the Dahomey and Ashanti empires, took advantage of this control and used it to their profit by enslaving and selling other Africans to European traders.

Scruffy the Clown is so dumb. Just dumb as a fence post dumb. Yes, blacks were sold into slavery by other blacks. But they were usually prisoners from some kind of conflict between warring tribes. The winners sold the losers to Arab slave traders who were then selling them on. If Scruffy would read his Bible, he would see that slavery has been around a very long time. It was also considered an honorable method to pay off a debt by selling yourself into a bond servant situation then too. While slavery was in existence, God also included a list of instructions to the owners to treat their slaves kindly, as they would their own families. That meant food, shelter and clothes, along with respect.
