Across California on May 1, tens of thousands protested in defiance of statewide lockdown orders. In Sacramento, the west lawn of the state capitol building was filled with protesters, with thousands more marching along the sidewalk surrounding the capitol grounds. Additional thousands driving their cars and honking their horns created three hours of total gridlock on the streets that loop around the capitol. Noteworthy protests have taken place in San Diego, Encinitas, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, Paso Robles, Santa Rosa, and even tiny Lakeport on the shores of Clear Lake. There is no end in sight.

California is developing a history of electing a governor, then having to figure out how to get rid of them. They recalled Gray. Now they will have to do the same with Newsom. They should have done it with Brown.

Graveyard Nuisance is a Democrat and they have CA locked down and under their iron-fisted control and there is pretty much no chance of ever reversing this situation. Voters will keep voting Dem no matter how dictatorial and imperialistic they are. GN will be re-elected no problem. Even if he doesn't run his next heir to the throne is Antonio Villaraigosa. If he gets in you can bet a hundred Pesos that he will do everything possible to give CA back to Mexico.

O.P.'s comment is probably closer to reality than the article is. The authoritarian Democrats in CA are more deeply entrenched than we might think. And the Leftist majority thwarts nearly every effort to thwart the further spread of the Socialism virus.

California has more registered Democrat voters than Republicans. If someone can figure a workaround for that, we 5 million California Republicans (how many in your state?) would love to hear it.
We are waiting for the same Democrats who went Reagan Democrat because they were fed up to do the same now. Our best shot. That and a big bunch of those uncommitted No Party Preference registered voters who were a great help in getting rid of the tyrannical Gray Davis.
With all respect, having recalled one governor does not amount to developing a history of ….having to get rid of a governor.
Still waiting for those who throw stones to let us know how the paradise state where they live has worked out the Dem problem. Some simply have to have that… (crickets?)

Interesting reading, especially finding out that billionaire Tom Steyer (remember his failed campaign?) runs Newsoms coronavirus “task force” in California....where are the republicans in California?
There aren’t any!
That’s why if you take the (R) out of California
You get—-CALIFONIA!

Re Steyer chairing the state's reopening. The guy who literally thinks our economy is destroying the planet is in charge of restarting our economy. Good luck.

I believe Donald Trump Jr is hot and heavy with newsom's ex wife. If I'm correct she was on the 5 on fox channel. Always tarted up in barely there outfits and sky high heels. She's loud and mouthy. I think it's a really stupid move on his part.
She married a lib. Don't trust her a bit.

Tens of millions have lost their jobs. Trillions have been lost in savings. Barring massive fraud, there will be many incumbent politicians at all levels losing their jobs.

Don Jr’s relationship with Kimberly Guilfoyle has nothing whatsoever to do with Gavin Newsom. Ancient history. She is super smart, with an excellent political mind. She is a very attractive woman. I have never seen her doing anything inappropriate. A search for photos of her brings up photos in modest dress and photos with decolletage. I imagine she drives some women crazy. It was ever so. They have to deal with their feelings.
Things like this are usually brought up as sideways digs at President Trump. The stuff you’d expect to see on #NeverTrump sites.

Do the votes of the citizens in California even matter? I suspect the governor is elected in spite of the votes.

Not so poster 16 no dig at the President. I simply DO NOT trust someone who was married to a lib. And I respectfully disagree on her outfits. She was always tugging at her dress on the 5 lest it ride up and show her behind. If she was foolish enough to marry newsom then I question her judgment right out of the gate. I don't trust her. We'll see if I'm correct.

Yes, Californians are ready to get rid of Newsom but, they will never be able to out vote the liberals and parasites in San Fran and LA, hence the whole state suffers. New Jersey has the very same problem. The rest of the state cannot out vote the liberals in North Jersey which is just a suburb of New York.

This is a vastly different state than even 20 years ago. The inmates run the asylum. Newsom will still win by 20+ percent; the leftists in the state senate and assembly will still retain their supermajority. It’s over.
Sadly, my OC is turning by each election. What was once half John Birch is now nouveau riche liberal guilt bedwetting neo-socialists.
It’s over, Johnny ....... it’s over.......

As much as I'd like to believe this, I don't see it. California is still a wholly-owned subsidiary of the public sector employee unions. The inevitable federal bailout of states will ensure this continues for the foreseeable future.
