Christians around the world celebrated Easter Sunday isolated in their homes by the coronavirus while pastors preached the faith’s joyous news of Christ’s resurrection to empty pews. One Florida church drew a large turnout for a drive-in service in a parking lot. In Britain, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, the first major world leader to test positive for the virus, paid an emotional tribute to the country’s National Health Service following his release from the hospital, saying its doctors and nurses had saved his life “no question.” He especially thanked two nurses who stood by his bedside for 48 hours “when things could have gone either way.”

President Trump can keep his elusive tax returns under wraps — for now — with the collapse of House Democrats’ latest attempt to make them public. The Treasury Department’s top watchdog ruled that Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin acted correctly when he withheld six years’ worth of Trump’s IRS filings from prying eyes on the House Ways and Means Committee. “The Department processed the request properly,” acting Inspector General Richard Delmar wrote to committee chairman Richard Neal (D-Mass.) in a letter made public Friday. Delmar, who investigated the matter at Neal’s request, found that Mnuchin followed the advice of Justice Department attorneys to keep Trump’s financial documents private.

When a Christian church in Louisville, Kentucky, was told they were not allowed to attend Easter Sunday church service in their vehicles, the group sued the liberal mayor giving the order, and the city. A federal judge ruled Saturday that the church was right about their religious liberties being violated, permitted the establishment to hold drive-up service, and offered a firm rebuke of the mayor for attempting to “criminalize” the “celebration of Easter.”On Fire Christian Church sued Mayor Greg Fischer and the city on Friday, arguing the mayor’s order banning drive-up service was in violation of their First Amendment rights, particularly since the churchgoers would be practicing safe

The Illinois State Police are warning that people who attend church services on Easter Sunday may face charges including “reckless conduct.” The police said that they will not be storming churches that violate the governor’s stay-at-home order, but that charges could come “down the line.” Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s stay-at-home order prohibits all gatherings of ten people or more through April 30, including church services. Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly announced the potential for charges on Thursday. “There’s not going to be law enforcement storming into church buildings, that’s not what’s going to happen here,” Kelly said. “That’s not the way to do this.”

JUMONVILLE, Pennsylvania — We are a country built on not one, but several, leaps of faith.Certainly, it was a leap of faith when a young George Washington, then a lieutenant colonel of the colonial forces, found himself mired in a deadly skirmish here in this densely wooded mountaintop of Chestnut Ridge. He, his men, and ultimately his cause, protecting the property lines of the British colonies, would prevail. That faith didn’t exactly work out the way Washington believed at the time. He was looking for glory and ascension within the ranks of Britain’s colonial army; what he ultimately achieved here was the first shots of the French and Indian War.

After a 40-day period dedicated to fasting, self-denial, and prayer, Christians begin a new phase in their calendar: a 50-day celebration of Christ’s resurrection, which ends on Pentecost Sunday. It is deliberate that the celebration of Easter lasts longer than that of Lent. And now, at a time of suffering in which hope is more difficult than usual to maintain, it is a good moment to keep that lesson in mind. For all the pain and loss that the world’s peoples are enduring, a brighter future awaits. Christians and non-Christians alike can surely appreciate the panic that must have gone through the minds of Christ’s apostles

They are actively, either consciously or not, working against the United States for reasons ranging from incompetence to the hatred of President Donald Trump. None of the options are good, but no other conclusion can be drawn.

Cuomo’s remarks came during Saturday’s coronavirus news briefing held in Albany, New York, after a reporter asked him whether he had considered a White House run. “Democrats would like to see me replace Joe Biden on the ticket,” Cuomo asked before saying the idea is “flattering” and somewhat “irrelevant.” Cuomo went on to discuss why many would not be fond of his consideration of running for president and how it correlates with his handling of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

But it’s good news under the circumstances, he said to himself, a sinking feeling in his stomach. Our current predicament is difficult but straightforward: 1. We need to get the economy going at the earliest conceivable moment it’s safe to do so. 2. There are two prerequisites to doing that, according to every infectious disease specialist in creation. First, we need to make testing widely available so that we can catch new cases early, before they turn into new outbreaks.

Who is pushing for this? And what do they let slip?Under all of those headings, I’ve been getting very worried over the response to COVID-19.The draconian measures put in place completely out of proportion to the threat they purport to combat.

The hordes of the entitled aren’t quite sure how to behave. Everything has changed. How will they be aspirational? How can they show America that they too are in pain, struggling and therefore relatable/likable? Many of them have dug deep into their shallow psyches and bravely tried to show us their burden either via their own television shows or social media channels to get their daily dose of crowd-sourced dopamine. And it’s … horrific.
