Sir Stirling Moss, who has died after a long illness aged 90, was the most important British racing driver of his generation and arguably of the entire history of the post-war sport. He became a benchmark against which all others were measured, either by themselves, or by the public. “As a racer one should go for it, as fast as possible,” was his credo. In his 14-year competition career, he entered 530 races of all types and won 212 of them.

Spencer Davis, a British guitarist and bandleader whose eponymous rock group had 1960s hits including “Gimme Some Lovin’” and “I’m a Man,” has died while being treated for pneumonia.
Davis’ agent, Bob Birk, said Tuesday that he died in a hospital. He didn’t give a location, but British media reported that Davis lived in Los Angeles. Davis was 81.

Legendary physicist and big thinker Freeman Dyson died today at age 96 in New Jersey after a fall earlier this week, according to reports from Maine Public Radio and The New York Times.
Dyson, born in England in 1923, moved to the United States in 1947 and spent most of his life as a professor or professor emeritus at the Princeton University Institute for Advanced Study. Dyson first became widely known for important work in the late 1940s on the interactions between light and matter, then went on to have a remarkably wide-ranging career.

The millions of Americans who were paying attention throughout the 2020 election campaign all became painfully aware of the fact that Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities were slipping and slipping fast. His wife, as the person closest to him, should have been the one to call the campaign quits in order to reduce stress on the man.
Instead, apparently so anxious to become the First Lady by any means necessary, Mrs. Biden continued to push her failing husband’s campaign forward as if he were mentally qualified.

Growing up, and starting to drive, the phrase 'make like Moss' was always the encouragement to go faster, even to a foolhardy degree. Sir Stirling was, in the opinion of many, the most skilled and greatest driver to never win the F1 championship. He was not as famous or successful as some other drivers, but he was the idol of many. RIP
