to end war in Iran

WASHINGTON – In a political blow to President Donald Trump, the Senate on May 19 moved forward for the first time with a measure to end the war in Iran.
After several key Republican senators didn't vote – and another key GOP bloc defected – the war powers resolution advanced, 50-47.
Though the vote was largely procedural, and faces an uphill battle to actually becoming law, the resolution's progress was a bad omen for the White House about potentially waning support in Congress for the war. Rising gas prices, spiking inflation and the president's sinking polling numbers have become political liabilities for battleground GOP lawmakers as the November midterm elections approach.

Democrats marched in lockstep behind Obama and Biden no matter how stupid and destructive their policies. Republicans continue to be the stupid party.

Just a bunch of cowardly, traitorous scum who only worry about their re-election and do not care a da*n about the nation. Those that voted to end the war border on insanity.

Dithering and repeatedly threatening then pulling back is very destructive to support. It was fine to take a break to rest the troops and replenish the armaments, but he is starting to look weak costing him needed support.

He still has an opportunity to end it. President Trump doesn't come from a background where the purpose is to win by killing your enemies, nor does Congress. This is war, and that is how wars are won. He comes from the art of the deal. That doesn't work in war. It gives the enemy time to regroup, and this enemy will. They are willing to take the losses - there are millions of them. He got Maduro, and he left the administration in place, and didn't end the evils. I doubt there will be fair elections.
I would like to see the plan for ending the Iran war, defining what we consider winning and what it will take to get there. He doesn't have a congress that will back him up. That's on a defective election system that needs to be fixed.
Iran has a military, nukes, and delivery systems that need to be destroyed. Running the country is on the region. Let them hammer it out.

“ Meanwhile, Sens. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska; Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, voted with Democrats.”
All are members of the RINO Hall Of Fame. Do NOT be surprised if Murkowski switches to the Democrat Party in 2027.

Take a breath and wipe the drool from your chin, Zach. You yourself wrote that it’s a procedural vote.

At age 87, I have lived through several wars, opposing most of them for good reason.
Korean war - not fought properly
Viet Bam war - same
First gulf war - not necessary
Second gulf war-not necessary
Iran War- most justified, after 47 years of aggression from the Shiite sh@@heads, and cowardice on the part of several American presidents.Carter and Obola being the biggest ones.
The rest of the Muslim world would be secretly delighted if we brought on a general equal to Curtis LeMay, who was ready to nuke 70 cities in Russia, simultaneously.
If a Trump had been president in 1979, the hostage tasking would have ended quickly in Tehran. And the subsequent Muslim meddling would not have happened.

#14, you may be right about Carter and Obama being the biggest cowards, but Bill Clinton deserves mention as well. He was tested by the Islamists on that first World Trade Center bombing and basically shrugged his shoulders. Same reaction to the USS Cole attack.

Typical leftist BS. The war in Iran is already over. We are in the process of cleanup and keeping the Strait open. Iran is down to its last few stones and arrows. Democrats are stuck in the mindset of politicians, which Trump is not.

If today's politicians were around in the 1940s, they would have tried to sue for peace with Japan after the Philippines fell to the Japanese.

This is why Iran refuses to negotiate. They think Congress will stop Trump.
