Virginia Democrats ask Supreme Court to

Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones filed a long-shot emergency petition to the Supreme Court on Monday, urging it to reinstate the voter-approved Democratic gerrymander of the state’s congressional map, which the Virginia Supreme Court struck down last week. The petition, filed on behalf of Jones and other Democratic leaders in Virginia, argued that the Virginia Supreme Court erred in ruling that an “election” in the Virginia constitution includes the early voting period, instead arguing that under federal law, an “election” refers to a singular day.

The VA constitution very explicitly requires the referendum to be BETWEEN two elections NOT at the same time of either event. Early voting had already commenced - OOOPS! Justice Jackson will of course want to intervene but then she is usually ignorant of the law as written. We are going to have to put up with her till she dies decades from now - and no one will be able to tell when senility develops.

Be careful what one ask for. What if the Supreme Joke rule that the VA Dems were correct and there is only ONE day for an elections. All the mail ins and extended voting proc less ripe for fraud are gone. It would be a battle won and a war lost. DeMS-13 couldn't win without voter fraud and the one day rule would eliminate so much potential for voter fraud.

The dems were too smart by half. Now they go to the US Supreme Court on bended knee to beg for relief after basically calling the court illegitimate and illegal. The Court's ruling should be FAFO.

First the Democrats in the VA Legislature ignore all of the rules for their redistricting scheme and get called out by the District, Appeals, and State Supreme Courts. They cry foul, saying that the courts aren't fair and are wrong. Now they expect the US Supreme Court to hear their plea (whining) and see things their way. Only a Ketanji Brown-Jackson or Kamala Harris word salad could find any support for this clown show. No court or jurist could legitimately find in favor of Virginia and the Democrats scheme if they truly respect the rule of law.

AUSTIN — Former President Barack Obama met with U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico Tuesday in Texas, putting his support behind a campaign that Democrats see as a shot, if a long one, for the party to win statewide in the reliably conservative state. Obama lunched with Talarico and Democratic state Rep. Gina Hinojosa, the nominee running to unseat Texas’ Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, at a taco shop in Austin. The visit was meant to give the candidates a boost from one of the more liked figures in the Democratic Party. Obama has been highlighting younger leaders in the party, including New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani,

It was fun while it lasted. Fun? Well ... revealing, anyway. Yesterday, the New York Times reported that Democrats in Virginia would amend the state constitution to force all sitting judges on its state supreme court to retire, after losing a 4-3 decision on another botched attempt to amend the state constitution. David wrote about the even more breathtaking abuse of power this would represent. It turns out that this was a bridge too far even for Democrats, who have begun to wonder about the backlash coming from its scummy tactics in gerrymandering the state. As one Democrat "operative" told the Virginia Scope this morning,

President Donald Trump has been compared to many historical figures, by opponents (who claim he’s another Adolf Hitler) and by boosters (who cite Andrew Jackson or Teddy Roosevelt). With his blockade of Iran, though, maybe we should start comparing him to Gen. Winfield Scott. In the mid-19th century, Scott was America’s preeminent military mind, the architect of victory in the Mexican War and the “Grand Old Man of the Army.” As the Civil War loomed, he developed a plan to defeat the Confederacy with the smallest number of casualties possible. He called it the Anaconda Plan — and like its namesake it was about applying a squeeze, and squeezing hard

The apparent collapse of high-stakes U.S.-Iran negotiations has intensified fears that senior figures inside Tehran’s leadership could flee to Russia, seeking refuge to "continue their insurgency and undermine any new regime," an analyst warns. The breakdown in talks comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also told CBS’ "60 Minutes" that toppling Iran’s regime could now even be a realistic outcome. Netanyahu noted that any collapse would dismantle the "scaffolding" of Tehran's global terror proxy network, also potentially ending Hezbollah's influence in the region.

Well, isn't this interesting? There are reports that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been conducting military strikes against an Iranian oil facility. If this can be confirmed, this could represent quite a shake-up in the Middle East. That post reads: MORE: According to the Wall Street Journal, the UAE secretly carried out military strikes inside Iran, including the April 8 attack on the oil refinery on Lavan Island. The UAE reportedly used Western-made fighter jets, believed to be Mirage 2000-9s, but has not publicly acknowledged the operation. The strike took place just hours after a fragile U.S.-brokered ceasefire. Iran responded immediately with missile and drone attacks on targets in the UAE.

Democrats on Monday filed an emergency appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court in an effort to overturn the Virginia Supreme Court’s rejection of the state’s mid-decade redistricting effort, which was passed by referendum last month and would overwhelmingly benefit Democrats. The state spent $5.2 million to pay for the special election to ask voters to approve the map, which would have created ten districts that favor Democrats, with just one district favoring Republicans. The new map was designed to allow Democrats to pick up as many as four seats in the upcoming midterm elections. But after the Republican National Committee challenged the new map in court,

Hasan Piker, a leftist streamer and "influencer," is a real piece of... work. Politically, he's somewhere out there to the left of Fidel Castro. So, naturally, when the Virginia Supreme Court struck down the redistricting scheme cooked up by Virginia Democrats who didn't bother to read what the Virginia Constitution says about the matter, Piker got himself in, shall we say, a bit of a snit. Actually, a four-alarm angry rant is a more accurate decision. In a 4-3 decision, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled that a voter-approved map, which would give Democrats a 10-1 advantage in U.S. House races, violated the state's constitution because of procedural errors in the map’s passage.
