The Democrat announced Friday that the state will partner with nonprofit Baby2Baby to hand out 400 free diapers to families leaving participating hospitals, starting this summer. The initiative, dubbed "Golden State Start," is being billed as a first-in-the-nation effort to ease the high cost of raising a child.
"Every baby born in California deserves a healthy start in life," Newsom said in a statement, touting the plan as part of his broader push to tackle affordability. Under the program, hospitals will distribute the

FTA:
"Under the program, hospitals will distribute the diapers directly to parents upon discharge. Officials said early rollout will prioritize facilities serving low-income patients on Medi-Cal, with plans to expand statewide. During the program’s first year, it will be offered at about 65 to 75 hospitals that handle about a quarter of births in the state and largely serve low-income patients,"

Generations used cloth diapers, disinfected, washed dried and reused them. Environmentally far better.

He should be handing them out to the homeless so they stop pooping on the sidewalks. Get your free diapers and needles, one stop shopping!

I am guessing that the owner of the company supplying the diapers is friends with Newsom, the State will pay a marked up price for those diapers, and Newsom will get a cut for his presidential campaign.

What happens when the parents sell the diapers for selfish cash?
What happens when the 400 diapers are used?

In order to implement his new program he will need to staff a whole new department to administer it. I imagine the cost of this new department will cost 4 or 5 times the amount the program will distribute. All friends of Gavin and democrat NGO's.

Of course first priority will go to illegal alien mothers and foreigners temporarily in California to ensure that their babies are born in the USA thus granting them automatic so-called “birth right” US citizenship, after which they return to their home countries, mainly China, making it possible under current US law for their baby to return to the USA after growing up in the parents home country, and then being eligible to be elected as a future US President!

Check on a kickback to diaper manufacturers. Democrats do not do anything unless someone profits.

Would be much cheaper to simply provide them with a voucher for the local WalMart or Target.
Sure hope someone is investigating this NGO and the principals listed in the article.
Somehow I sense a new fraud scheme in the works to replace the hospice fraud network.

If you can't afford diapers you probably can't afford to raise a child. Perhaps the state and offer
free Norplant contraceptives instead of diapers. Probably would be a huge saving in welfare costs in the long run. It would require no effort on the part of the women except showing up for the procedure ....

Yet another "handout" of tax dollars for the "low income" types. With all the free stuff they get, they live better than the proud working poor.

FTA:
Tennessee families can go to pharmacies to pick up 100 diapers per month for children under two. The Delaware program, which began as a pilot before the state extended it in 2024, provides individuals with up to 80 diapers and up to one pack of baby wipes per week in the first 12 weeks.

My gut tells me that the diapers are just camouflage.
The REAL point is to shovel money to ANOTHER 'Nonprofit'.
I wonder what the 'compensation' is for the top people at 'Baby2Baby'.
I wonder how many sub-contract NGO's will be involved, and what the compensation will be for the top people in each of them.
I wonder who they are 'friends' with?
I wonder how much- and what percentage- of the overall funding will get used up in 'administrative overhead', and how much wanders back into the coffers of the 'Rat politicians.
I would like to see the results of a strict, detailed AUDIT of the Taxpayer's Ca$h that is shoveled in their direction.
