Prince Harry's 'worst fears' realized

Prince Harry’s security woes appear to be taking an emotional toll on the royal. As the legal battle over his right to police protection in the U.K. intensifies, Harry’s concerns about his safety have been brought to the forefront. [Snip] While Harry fought for security to protect his family in the U.K., his wife enjoyed a night out in New York City. The Duchess of Sussex arrived in the Big Apple in a four-vehicle motorcade. An unmarked NYPD car accompanied Markle on her 1.5-mile journey, as she grabbed dinner at the Polo Bar in Midtown Manhattan with friends before heading to the Broadway production of "Gypsy"...

What a Load of Feces! I recall that Harry and MeAgain 'retired' from being 'royals' because it was too much of a strain. The poor dears! So why do they get any special treatment, and the Lamestreams gossip columnists should quit with the 'Prince' and 'Duchess' nonsense. What King Charlie decides to do, and pay for, is none of my business, but the American Taxpayers should not be footing the bill for MeAgain's 'motorcade' and police escort. If they want all this expense lavished on them, let it be done on THEIR dime! Oh, and what became of their 'Privacy Tour'? MeAgain, How can we Miss you, if you Won't Go Away?

They are afraid in Britain but not in New York City? Are they daft? I guess a four-car entourage provides a little edge of safety, even in New York. Duchess of Sussex could be abbreviated to Duchess of Sux.

It’s not just taxpayer funded security in the UK that he’s after, he wants his IPP (International Protected Person) status re instated. That means he would not only be on par with his father and brother but every country in the world would have to provide security for him and his wife when they visit even though he is not a working Royal. He’s got a bloody cheek.

As if those two don’t appear childish enough, he is now using the “I didn’t ask to be born!” argument to guilt his father into supplying him free international security and she has a 4 car motorcade and police escort deliver her to the front door of the Majestic Theater on Broadway. And here we thought all they wanted was privacy.

She talks about being a mother is so great yet when he is out of town, she goes out of town too. They claim to be against the causes of global warming, yet she takes a jet across country from CA to NY to see a broadway play. Who is taking care of those children? Doria? I Have NO RESPECT for either one. He's a weakling; she's a mean bully.

Harry must feel he needs more attention when he visits the UK. As a publicity where like his wife, he craves the attention a full security detail brings him. As an entitled crybaby, it never dawned on him that he could just pay for his own security.

While there's definitely an ego aspect to wanting the IPP status, there's also the issue of diplomatic immunity. I believe that is a driving force for his continued lawsuits. There have been money issues with the "charity" they run, and the charities they have used. He can't pay off Trump like he did Biden with a payoff to a daughter's fake charity.

Well Harry can disclose all the supposedly hidden evidence in his next book. Unless he is really dumb, Harry has to realize by now that the vast majority of people of the UK no longer want him there. In that sense, he can probably move to the African country of Botswana, the place that Harry has said he loves the most.

President Donald Trump signed a memorandum authorizing a “military mission for sealing the southern border of the United States and repelling invasions,” giving the U.S. military the ability to occupy public land along the border in order to secure it. [Snip] Invoking a day-one proclamation from Trump declaring a national emergency at the southern border, the memo says the Secretary of the Interior must “provide for” the Defense Department’s “utilization of public lands,” specifically including “portions of the Roosevelt Reservation”--a strip of land that reaches from California to Texas designated for border security in 1907. The directive excludes Federal Indian Reservations.

President Trump on Friday night authorized the military to take control of a strip of public land along the southern border. [Snip] A memorandum released by the White House directs the Secretaries of Defense, Interior, Agriculture and Homeland Security to transfer the jurisdiction of federal land along the southern border to the Department of Defense. The order details that the military will be tasked with building a border wall and implementing detection and monitoring equipment. But the military's mandate is broad and defined as activities that are "reasonably necessary and appropriate to accomplish the mission." The order references the Roosevelt Reservation,...

Trump’s Long Game With Tariffs 8 replies

Donald Trump is playing the long game with tariffs. His goal is to restore our industrial base by revolutionizing the way the United States trades with the rest of the world. We no longer make antibiotics, and import much of our steel, computer chips, and cars. We must even import titanium sponge--a key component for weapons systems--from producers in China, Russia, and Kazakhstan. [Snip] ...that’s what “liberation day” is all about. Do we see ourselves as slaves to distant masters who control our wealth and our destiny? Or as free men and women in charge of our own destiny? Freedom always has a cost. And it’s worth it.

It’s an obvious trope that often conflates fascism with a very natural love of homeland. ...many have felt like displaced persons adrift in a sea of wokeness. [Snip] Christian nationalism, properly interpreted, is about a renewed ache for the profound sense of belonging Americans once had in America, including the longing for Christian values of forgiveness and redemption and real love--all of which are woven into America’s heritage and founding. On average, Americans pay about twice what other countries do for prescription drugs. Thanks to President Trump’s aggressive tariffs and the global trade war they are inciting, they might soon pay even more. In his remarks announcing tariffs last week, Trump said, “The pharmaceutical companies are going to come roaring back. … because if they don't, they've got a big tax to pay,...” When they do, one of the biggest losers would likely be generic drug manufacturers...they account for about 90% of all prescriptions in the United States, a huge segment of Americans...

Aside from the rhetoric, there is a growing consensus among Western diplomats, military analysts, military officers, heads of state, and even much of the media about how to end the endless Ukrainian war. A proposed peace will see a DMZ established somewhere along an adjusted 1,200-mile Ukraine-Russia border. [Snip] If and when peace comes, we can already foresee the misinformation that will follow: Trump deserves no credit. Zelenskyy remains the true hero. A now hollowed-out Russia was the real winner. The only mystery? Since when did the anti-war left prefer an endless and horrific war to a difficult, messy peace?

The federal judge who blocked the Trump administration's use of a 1798 wartime law to immediately deport Venezuelan nationals canceled a planned Tuesday court hearing to review the case after the Supreme Court handed a win to the president. Much like every other major story, the dying news media have managed to take a really interesting topic and thoroughly dumb it down to a limited set of monotonous slogans. [Snip] Me no like tariff! Tariff bad! [Snip] Ultimately, producers might decide it’s better to simply make their stuff in America in order to skirt the tariffs, which allows them to sell more of it in the world’s richest market (America). Or, other nations might remove trade barriers and allow more goods from the U.S. to be sold inside their borders if it means we eliminate or at least decrease the new tariffs. Ideally, both happen and everyone benefits.

China announced countermeasures by raising tariffs on U.S. goods from 84% to 125% starting Saturday. The U.S. and China have escalated a new trade war by raising tariffs even as U.S. President Donald Trump hit a pause on tariffs for other countries. China notably had said it would fight the American tariffs with its own countermeasures, calling Trump’s actions “economic bullying,” which led Trump to retaliate by continuously hiking up tariffs this week. Trump’s universal tariffs on China total 145%. When Trump announced Wednesday that China faced 125% tariffs, he did not include a 20% tariff on China tied to its role in fentanyl production.
