A single Republican senator — Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) — voted against the nomination of Harmeet Dhillon to serve as assistant attorney general, veering away from the rest of her GOP colleagues who voted in favor. After her nomination in December, lawmakers finally held a formal vote Thursday and Dhillon was approved in a 52-45 vote. However, Murkowski opposed the nomination and sided with Democrats. President Donald Trump announced in December the nomination of Dhillon to work as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice.

If it were not for ranked choice voting, this witch would have been defeated in the last Alaska primary race. How she survives and remains in DC makes no sense to me. Name calling her a RINO creates more fracture of the republican party and divides it. Too many candidates running in opposition in the primary only allows her to stay on top of challengers and her huge campaign war chest because voters annot muster enough to take her down since she rises above the others from name recognition.

Murkowski is everything that is wrong with the GOP. Notice every time the Republicans have all the power, there are just enough of them to muck up the works - and leadership never scolds them. The Democrats don't put up with party dissenters, the GOP welcome them. The current GOP have been in session for 3 months now, and what have they accomplished, I mean, besides nothing? They passed a CR to fund the govt until September, then patted themselves on the back and went back to bed. Trump wants a 'big beautiful' bill on tax relief by May; Thune has already back that up until July, which means August, but August is vacation month in DC, which means nothing starts up again until mid-September. By the time Congress finishes squabbling, it's Thanksgiving/Christmas, then they're in to 2026 - an election year with no accomplishments. Meanwhile, Dems are out there scouting out every district they need to reclaim the House, by cheating or otherwise. As it was in his 1st term, Trump is on his own.
