We were posted at the front of a large public high school auditorium in the Land of the Free in 2015. Both of us were responsible for maintaining some semblance of order as 150 to 200 students socialized, did homework, and ate lunch. I can’t tell you what my partner saw, but I saw girls sitting on their boyfriends’ laps. I noticed a student climbing over chairs to get from A to B. Some students were throwing things. We discouraged all this, of course, but the scene reminded me of Wild West cattle drives I’d seen on TV.

Donald Trump triumphantly celebrated a recent drone strike against Iran-backed Houthi terrorists in Western Yemen. The president posted video of the hit by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) to his Truth Social page and delighted in the victory. He wrote: 'These Houthis gathered for instructions on an attack. Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis! They will never sink our ships again!' The video, shot from the sky, shows a group of Houthis - one of several groups backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran - lining up before a gigantic explosion blows them away. Only two trucks can be seen as the smoke from the blast clears, presumably killing everyone down below.

Tariff bad! [Snip] Ultimately, producers might decide it’s better to simply make their stuff in America in order to skirt the tariffs, which allows them to sell more of it in the world’s richest market (America). Or, other nations might remove trade barriers and allow more goods from the U.S. to be sold inside their borders if it means we eliminate or at least decrease the new tariffs. Ideally, both happen and everyone benefits.

We know this because Hamas admits it. The murderous terror organization’s Ministry of Health has quietly reduced the number of civilian deaths that it has claimed were inflicted by Israeli forces. In its March 2025 fatality list, 3,400 “victims” simply vanish. Previously listed as people who perished last August and October, it turns out Hamas invented them.

Car prices are among the most prominent items likely to become more expensive, so Trump is also proposing that taxpayers be able to deduct interest payments on auto loans for domestic cars. To be sure, Trump is not making an explicit linkage between looming car price hikes and the car loan idea. But even left unsaid, it could be an economic spoonful of sugar to help the medicine (tariffs) go down. Trump originally pitched the proposal while campaigning for president in Michigan last year.

Everybody likes cheap stuff. We bargain hunt constantly, eager to find a way to save a dollar here and a dollar there while buying what we want and need. Clever retailers, eager to convince shoppers that they are saving money, will market sales as a means to entice customers through the door. At the same time, we notice when things increase in price. Over the past four years, as inflation brought on by excessive government spending tore through the economy, Americans everywhere righteously grumbled about the increased cost of groceries, fuel, and other necessities. In the 2024 election, voters’ concerns about inflation helped doom the Democratic Party

House Republicans last week paved the way to overturn a Biden-era Department of Energy (DOE) rule regulating walk-in coolers and freezers, and on Thursday the Senate also voted to end the regulation. Republican Oklahoma Rep. Stephanie Bice introduced H.J. Res. 24 in January, advocating to repeal a Biden-era rule titled, “Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Walk-In Coolers and Walk-In Freezers.” Senate Republicans approved the resolution with a 53-42 vote along party lines after it passed the House on March 27, pushing it to President Donald Trump’s desk for approval. DOE officials said they wanted to impose newer energy conservation standards. The Washington, D.C.-based Competitive Enterprise Institute said

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is leading Chuck Schumer by double digits in a new head-to-head poll of the 2028 New York primary. The survey by the liberal firm Data for Progress, first shared with POLITICO, found that 55 percent of Democratic likely voters said they supported or leaned toward supporting Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, while 36 percent backed or leaned toward backing Sen. Schumer. Nine percent were undecided. The poll is the latest sign that Schumer’s standing among the Democratic base has taken a hit since he voted to advance a GOP funding bill last month that avoided a government shutdown. The fact that

President Donald Trump signed an executive order to secure elections, including requiring documentary proof of citizenship to vote — mirroring a bill set to be voted on in the House. While noncitizen voting is already illegal, the current law is largely toothless. Trump’s order, along with the House legislation, would simply add some teeth. But Democrats are terrified that Republicans are finally taking the needed steps to enforce the law and protect our elections from violations that have been long ignored. “Trump and Congressional Republicans are escalating their assault on American democracy through the noxious SAVE Act,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said in a statement.

President Trump is reclassifying employees in two federal agencies to pave the way for their eventual termination. The president had promised to reclassify 50,000 federal workers as political appointees and remove their immunity from termination. He also promised to transfer 100,000 jobs out of Washington, D.C., to encourage bureaucrats to resign. By February, another 60,000 federal workers had accepted Trump’s buyout offer to leave their jobs in exchange for advance salaries. On January 20, he also signed the executive order “Restoring Accountability To Policy-Influencing Positions Within The Federal Workforce” to manage the federal workforce and ensure the execution of federal law.

The shared interests of regulators and the industry they often join after or between federal service became unmistakable in the past week amid the Trump administration's extreme makeover of the federal public health workforce and leadership. It suggests the Big Pharma gravy train is derailing, and its passengers in and out of government are panicking, prophesying and pulling out in a flurry of sky-is-falling predictions, ad hominem attacks and investors fleeing companies whose novel therapeutics seem unlikely to keep zipping through emergency and full approvals.
