“Small minds are concerned with the extraordinary, great minds with ordinary,” philosopher Blaise Pascal wrote. How do we make sense of this striking assertion? It seems to contradict common sense. Aren’t the greatest minds concerned with the greatest events, theories, ideas, and visions, not the insignificant details of daily life?
Pascal’s surprising statement deserves a closer examination, a teasing apart in order to discover the wisdom within.
Great minds understand the importance of the ordinary. After all, much of life consists of the ordinary. (snip), to discard mundane moments as unimportant would be a great mistake and lead us to believe that the bulk of our lives is meaningless.

If it weren’t for the fact that it is Democrats doing it, it would almost be shocking that there is so much opposition to the efforts of Mr. Trump, through DOGE, to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government. What person, in their right mind, could possibly be against having THEIR tax dollars used wisely, not wasted on frivolous, unnecessary projects, or just flat being abused by unscrupulous politicians and bureaucrats? The Trump administration filed an appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit after U.S. District Judge Benjamin Settle “issued a preliminary injunction putting on hold the military’s new policy of identifying and discharging any transgender service members,” according to Reuters.
