Trump announces 25% tariffs on all foreign-made cars

Washington—President Trump announced a 25% tariff on foreign-made cars Wednesday — saying it would boost domestic manufacturing. Trump, 78, announced the move in the Oval Office, saying that “this is gonna lead to the construction of a lot of plants” to build cars domestically.(Photo) “We’ll effectively be charging a 25% tariff, but if you build your car in the United States, there is no tariff,” he said. White House staff secretary Will Scharf announced that the action was projected to raise $100 billion in revenue — though analysis has suggested it may also sharply reduce import volume.

President Trump doesn't have the constitutional authority to impose tariffs. No president does. Congress has constitutional authority and responsibility for tariffs. Congress has passed laws delegating that power to the President to address national security threats. Hence the ridiculous language in the WH trade advisor's statement. So.What happens next? My predictions: Countervailing tariffs in U S. imports. Trade and production disruptions in the U.S. auto industry. Auto dealership bankruptcies. Fast track cases brought before the courts to get injunctions leading to a supreme court case that rules this action is so far outside the intent of the congressional delegation in the law that the President's orders are vacated. But of course by that time the damage will have been done.

#9, If you won't tighten your belt when staring at a $33 trillion abyss, when are you going to do it? Having said that this disaster has been caused by dishonesty, corruption and fraud committed through deceit. The people bear only an indirect responsibility in that they were careless when voting and allowed this to happen. But karma is karma!

I suspect the tariffs on American cars going overseas is MUCH greater than 25%. By now I would think readers of this site would realize Trump DOESN'T want to tariff your precious Toyota. He wants Toyota to bring their production here and sell Americans Toyotas built by Americans. Pay attention already!

The big Japanese car makers, like Honda and Toyota, have been building most of the cars they sell in auto plants in the USA. I have owned a number of Honda SUVs that were made in Alabama, USA. The vehicles made by foreign auto makers that are being built in the USA will not be affected by the Trump tariffs. With the high cost of new motor vehicles today, not too many people in the USA are going to go out of their way to purchase foreign made vehicles and pay 25% more.

The remedy is simple for those foreign manufacturers: Just drop YOUR TARIFFS ON AMERICAN PRODUCTS, and our tariffs will vanish with them. Too bad the MSM never mentions that little fact!

In the days following her humiliating defeat in the presidential election, aides to Kamala Harris repeatedly argued that they were hamstrung by Joe Biden's stubbornly late withdrawal from the race, leaving them scrambling to wantonly throw together a campaign from scratch in just a little over three months. It turns out they had been planning the scenario since early 2023, including wargaming for a scenario in which Biden, unfortunately, passed away while in office. This, according to an excerpt from “FIGHT: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House,” a book by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes.

The Trump administration has moved to end perhaps the worst moral obscenity engendered by the Biden open border policy: the vanishing of some 320,000 children. The Office for Refugee Resettlement, a part of the Department of Health and Human Services, cares for unaccompanied migrant children until they can be released to an adult sponsor stateside. Under Biden, it fell down on the job — horribly, losing track of literal hundreds of thousands of kids. That’s more than the population of Cincinnati, Ohio. The child influx was an utterly foreseeable result of the Biden team’s decision to open the border and end all meaningful enforcement, yet the administration made

In fighting imagined threats from foes long receded from the global stage, the paper also has advocated for the Republican Party to embrace its former smaller, more manageable coalition
