When the president addresses Congress, we expect some partisanship. When Democrats talk about how they want to force people to do their bidding, Republicans don’t applaud. When Republicans talk about cutting people’s taxes, Democrats sit on their hands. But there have always been times in the past when the entire chamber applauds, sometimes members of the opposing party even stand. That’s because the person addressing them is president of the United States, not leader of a faction. Until now. We have never seen a spectacle like we saw last night.

Five weeks into his second term as president, and Donald Trump still holds the approval of the American voting-age public. But, not surprisingly, sharp differences emerge when looking at party affiliation, with Republicans more likely to give the new chief executive high approval marks than either Democrats or independents, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows.
The national online poll was taken by a sample of 1,434 adults from March 26-28 and has a margin of error of +/-2.6 percentage points.

The public’s response: “people meters” off the charts with likes – and the instant recouping of a polling margin that had begun to erode.
But equally telling was Democratic candidate Walter Mondale’s reaction: a sheepish laugh plus looks over and then downward – a visage and posture essentially conceding defeat.
Conservatives have been positively giddy with the whirlwind of activity out of the White House over the past five weeks. But if President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress don’t start focusing on the economy, the excitement will be short-lived.
Not only are there worrisome signs of an economic slowdown, but the public is growing increasingly frustrated with what they see as a lack of attention to pocketbook issues on Trump’s part. Republican lawmakers are making matters worse by dawdling on extending Trump’s tax cuts, which is causing businesses to hold off on big investments. This is a lethal combination.

In consuming the news, one could easily conclude that, as we said earlier in the week, President Donald Trump and Elon Musk are carpet bombing the federal government. The wails and screeching breakdowns over the injustice of federal workers losing their jobs are ear-piercing. They are, we’re told, under attack.

During Donald Trump's big speech on Tuesday night, the Democrats proved more than ever that they hate this country and do not wish to see it succeed. They refused to clap for common sense things like lowering taxes and removing dangerous criminals from the streets. Even worse, they failed to applaud for everyone from the mothers of young girls who were brutally murdered to foster dads and foster children. But one of the most disgusting moments of the evening came when they refused to acknowledge a young boy with brain cancer for something that was about as far from partisan as you can get.

Democrats continue to flounder as President Trump’s Days of Thunder transform the United States of America from the broken Biden years into a secure, prosperous, and responsible nation ready to face the challenges of the 21st century.
Already, the Trump administration has shut down the open border with Mexico, something Biden refused to do. Trump and DOGE has save the American taxpayer billions of dollars lost by previous administrations. Trump continues to eliminate waste and fraud in government. And, this week, President Trump cut funding to the unending War in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Democrats continue to flounder with policies that are insane and unpopular. Their approval rating is at a dismal 36 percent!
If you watched Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress Tuesday evening, you know that Democrats behaved like children, and Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) was so disruptive that House Speaker Mike Johnson had him forcibly removed from the chamber.
Speaking to reporters after the incident, Green doubled down on his disruptive behavior and, of course, defended his childish actions.
“The president said he had a mandate, and I was making it clear to the president that he has no mandate to cut Medicaid,” Green said. “I have people who are very fearful. These are poor people, and they have only Medicaid in their lives
The Social Security Administration (SSA) said in a release that it has identified more than $800 million in savings or “cost avoidance” for fiscal 2025 among information technology, grants, property and payroll.
The SSA stated that it froze hiring and “drastically” cut back on overtime, saving about $550 million.
The government agency that administers the Social Security program said it cut back $150 million from the information technology systems (ITS) budget by canceling “non-essential contracts and identifying reductions in other ITS contracts.”
