Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett could not comprehend the idea of the federal government handing out dividends to Americans over the money it has wasted for decades during a Thursday segment on ABC News. President Donald Trump expressed interest in handing out $5,000 dividend checks to every taxpayer with the money saved by the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) downsizing of the federal government. Crockett said she does not believe $5,000 will help out the average American and appeared to ignore the fact that the federal government has wasted billions of dollars in spending for several years.

Toxic RINO Senator Susan Collins (ME) on Thursday morning announced she is a “no” vote on Kash Patel.
The Senate will vote to confirm Kash Patel as FBI Director on Thursday. Senator Collins came out against Kash Patel just hours before the vote.
Senator Collins said her decision to vote against Kash Patel comes after a flood of firings and resignations at the Justice Department.
“The nomination of Kash Patel to serve as Director of the FBI comes to the Senate against the backdrop of recent personnel actions at the Department of Justice, including the resignations of several career federal prosecutors who felt they were being

Although Hamas claimed that the four bodies released to Israel on Thursday included Shiri Bibas and her two young children Ariel and Kfir, an Israeli forensics team announced late on Thursday evening that the body believed to be Shiri’s was not, in fact, Shiri Bibas.
Specialists at Abu Kabir Forensic Institute determined that Ariel and Kfir were “brutally murdered by terrorists” in November 2023, and that “the additional body received” was not Shiri’s. The specialist confirmed the identities of Ariel, Kfir, and Oded Lifshitz, a retired journalist.
“No match was found for any other hostage. This is an anonymous, unidentified body,”

Senator Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.), the longest-serving Senate party leader in U.S. history, announced on Thursday he will not be seeking reelection in 2026.
McConnell intends to serve the remainder of his term, which ends in January 2027. The former Senate minority leader announced the news on his 83rd birthday.
“Seven times, my fellow Kentuckians have sent me to the Senate,” McConnell said in prepared remarks on the Senate floor. “Every day in between I’ve been humbled by the trust they’ve placed in me to do their business here. Representing our commonwealth has been the honor of a lifetime. I will not seek

No new water storage infrastructure has been built in California, more than a decade after voters approved a $7.5 billion water bond in Proposition 1 of 2014.
The San Jose Mercury-News reported Wednesday that officials are deciding what to do with nearly half a billion dollars of available cash after the “collapse” of a project to expand the Los Vaqueros Reservoir, which is east of San Francisco.
Other projects have received funding for planning and permitting, but nothing has been built.
The newspaper noted:
A majority of the seven board members of the California Water Commission, a state agency that distributes funding to build reservoirs and other water projects

I've done a lot of sales and marketing writing throughout my freelance career, though I'd hardly call myself an expert. Even so, I don't think it takes an expert to realize that you can keep rebranding something over and over again, but if you get the same result, the problem is with the product, not the way you're selling it.
Over the last six or seven years, Meghan Markle's attempts at selling anything substantial have failed almost every time. Her fake podcasting career was short-lived. With the exception of a "documentary" designed to mock her husband's family, the one that most people seemingly only viewed to hate-watch,

Dr. Deborah Birx is trying to save herself, isn’t she? She told Piers Morgan everything our lovely Leslie Eastman said from the beginning of COVID and about the vaccine:
Meant for the immunocompromised and elderly
Nothing like childhood vaccines
Young and healthy people didn’t need it
Wasn’t designed to prevent infection.
I’m immunocompromised with rheumatoid arthritis and Sjögren’s syndrome. I refuse to get the COVID vaccine. I still get the flu and pneumonia vaccine, though. The one time I forgot to update my pneumonia shot I got it. I had pneumonia in December 2019, and I wanted to die. COVID? I just slept a lot.
I felt worse with the flu and, of course, pneumonia…

President Trump signed an executive order Wednesday night barring illegal immigrants from receiving federally-funded benefits.
“My Administration will uphold the rule of law, defend against the waste of hard-earned taxpayer resources, and protect benefits for American citizens in need, including individuals with disabilities and veterans,” read the text of Trump’s order.
The president noted that the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA) ostensibly prohibits illegal immigrants from obtaining most taxpayer-funded benefits, but he argued that in the decades since its passage “numerous administrations have acted to undermine the principles and limitations directed by the Congress.”

The people of Los Angeles really need to fire Mayor Karen Bass.
As it is now widely known, Mayor Bass was traveling in Africa when the incredibly destructive fires broke out in the city weeks ago. When she finally made it back to LA, she was questioned by a reporter and stood there silently, unable or unwilling to explain herself.
Now, weeks later, she has done a TV interview where she explained that she is launching an investigation into why she was allowed to go on her Africa trip when people knew there was a possibility of fires.
Is this the most absurd thing you have ever heard? Is it close?

After Hamas terrorists paraded the coffins of the Bibas children around Gaza before their Thursday release, it was hard to imagine that there was any room for the family’s tragic ordeal to get even worse. And yet, somehow it has.
A short while ago, the Israel Defense Forces announced a forensics examination identified Kfir and Ariel Bibas (who were nine months old and four years old at the time of their abduction) as two of the bodies returned by Hamas, determining that they were brutally murdered in November 2023.
While this tragic news was expected, another detail came as a shock: “During the identification process, it was determined

The vote is in, and Kash Patel is the new director of the FBI in another huge win for Donald Trump. [Tweet, video]
The final vote came in at 51-49.
Surprisingly, Kentucky Republican Senator Mitch McConnell, who announced Thursday that he will not be running for reelection in 2026, was a yes vote. He was a no on SecDef Pete Hegseth and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard (both were confirmed anyway.) [Tweet]
Alaska's GOP Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Maine's Susan Collins voted "nay."
The day started out on an ominous note

On Tuesday, Elon Musk responded to a proposal from James Fishback, CEO of Azoria, regarding a unique idea: the “DOGE Dividend.” This initiative aims to issue a $5,000 tax refund check to approximately 79 million American families, funded by a projected total savings of $2 trillion from DOGE. Fishback emphasizes that this dividend would not only compensate taxpayers for the misuse of their dollars but also help restore trust in government accountability.Fishback’s argument is compelling: the DOGE Dividend represents a social contract between taxpayers and their government, a much-needed refund given the egregious waste uncovered. As Fishback puts it,
