At the Munich Security Conference, the "shared values" so frequently invoked by Europeans were called into question by US Vice President JD Vance. So do the US and Europe still speak the same language? Silence fell and the tension in the room was almost palpable as US Vice President JD Vance walked to the podium at the Munich Security Conference. Just 48 hours earlier, the world had felt like a different place. Europeans knew, of course, how difficult things might get with Donald Trump, and that his second US presidency would seriously test the transatlantic relationship. Nonetheless, the phone call between Trump and the Russian leader Vladimir Putin

The Euro socialists will never see eye to eye with a representative republic that loves freedom. They're on the road to communism and took an early exit to socialism for a rest stop.

Europe needs to grow a spine before the Third World completely overruns them. The Muslims' first target, of course, will be the destruction of the great cathedrals followed by Sharia Law. Then the subjugation of all non Muslims or the murder of those that resist.

“Suddenly there was a growing fear that they might find themselves completely sidelined in the talks about Ukraine, and perhaps even in the restructuring of the international world order.“ Sidelined!!??? As far as I can tell, Europe has done NOTHING on their own to stop the fighting or engineer any negotiations. For the first time in a generation or two, there is a world leader on the stage. Instead of acting sullen and pompous, Europe can try taking some initiative for their precious part of the world.

Macron & co. like to hold 'Summits' and run their mouth. Their talking of Ukraine joining NATO is, I believe, THE main reason that Russia invaded. If they won't talk to Putin, let them send the FRENCH army to Ukraine!

The main problem with Europe and our "shared values" is that it goes one way. We share our money with Europe and get nothing from them. We want no part of communist and socialist values. The Green New Scam was their biggest cash cow and now it's gone.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended Vice President JD Vance's speech in Germany slamming Europe's penchant for censorship on Sunday. Rubio clashed with CBS host Margaret Brennan on "Face the Nation" after she suggested that free speech had been "weaponized" to bring about the Holocaust in Nazi Germany. Brennan highlighted Vance's speech to the Munich Security Conference in Germany last week, which criticized European allies for adopting a "soviet"-style approach to censorship.

The White House slammed Democratic Sen. Everyone agrees that Vice President J. D. Vance’s speech at the Munich Security Conference on Friday was remarkable. I do not mean that everyone liked it. For example, Boris Pistorius, the German Defense Minister, sniffed—or perhaps “smoldered” would be a more accurate term—that Vance’s remarks were “not acceptable.” And then there is Bill Kristol, a sort of Greta Thunberg of the rancid former right, who thundered that Vance’s speech was “a humiliation for the U.S. and a confirmation that this administration isn’t on the side of the democracies.”“The democracies.” What do you suppose Kristol means by that?

The Army is repurposing more than half of the money it collects from junior enlisted soldiers for food, according to data reviewed by Military.com. The numbers suggest that a large portion of those funds are not going toward feeding soldiers, a diversion of resources coming at a time when troops increasingly struggle to find nutritious food on base. The money is collected in what amounts to a tax on troops -- taken from their Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) payments, roughly $460 per month that is automatically deducted from the paychecks of service members who live in barracks and is intended to help cover food costs.

With the Trump Administration poised to make good on its pledge to remake the federal government, higher education is entering a period of immense uncertainty. From aggressive proposals to tax university endowments and calculated efforts to dismantle DE&I programs on campuses to rumors of a sweeping executive order designed to gut the federal education agency entirely, President Trump and his team have made their intentions clear: they plan to upend the status quo with precision. But while the future remains uncertain, this moment also presents an opportunity to reevaluate and strengthen a system long overdue for reform.

Here are some of the untruths told about Elon Musk and DOGE: "Musk has no right to cut USAID." Elon Musk and his team are not cutting any federal programs. They are auditors. They were given legal authority under a presidential executive order creating the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Its mandate is to identify waste, abuse, fraud, and irrelevance in the federal budget at a time when the U.S. is $37 trillion in debt. The agency will expire on July 4, 2026. Ultimately, Musk can propose program cuts, but Trump holds the authority to approve or reject them. He may or may not act on all, some, or none of the DOGE recommendations.

The unusual deal would have granted the United States a 50 percent interest in all of Ukraine’s mineral resources, including graphite, lithium and uranium, as compensation for past and future support in Kyiv’s war effort against Russian invaders, according to two European officials. A Ukrainian official and an energy expert briefed on the proposal said that the Trump administration also sought Ukrainian energy resources.
