Mythologies About Musk

Original Article

Here are some of the untruths told about Elon Musk and DOGE: "Musk has no right to cut USAID." Elon Musk and his team are not cutting any federal programs. They are auditors. They were given legal authority under a presidential executive order creating the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Its mandate is to identify waste, abuse, fraud, and irrelevance in the federal budget at a time when the U.S. is $37 trillion in debt. The agency will expire on July 4, 2026. Ultimately, Musk can propose program cuts, but Trump holds the authority to approve or reject them. He may or may not act on all, some, or none of the DOGE recommendations.

I think the more important aspect of Musk’s auditor job is to expose every penny of the fraud perpetrated by the democrats to the American people, so that they know exactly where their tax dollars have been used and abused. The die hard leftists will not care or will come up with excuses, but I don’t think that your average democrat voter is going to be pleased.

It's also amusing that the Democrats are crying about Musk being "unelected". Just what do they think Biden's coterie of "advisers" who ran the worst administration in history were? There are thousands of unelected bureaucrats in Washington. Multiple satraps, toadies, lobbyists and assorted people with their fingers in the pie trying to influence and advise the US government for their own ideological or grifting reasons.

Over $151 Million Taken from Soldiers'
Paychecks for Food Costs Spent Elsewhere

The Army is repurposing more than half of the money it collects from junior enlisted soldiers for food, according to data reviewed by Military.com. The numbers suggest that a large portion of those funds are not going toward feeding soldiers, a diversion of resources coming at a time when troops increasingly struggle to find nutritious food on base. The money is collected in what amounts to a tax on troops -- taken from their Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) payments, roughly $460 per month that is automatically deducted from the paychecks of service members who live in barracks and is intended to help cover food costs.

At the Munich Security Conference, the "shared values" so frequently invoked by Europeans were called into question by US Vice President JD Vance. So do the US and Europe still speak the same language? Silence fell and the tension in the room was almost palpable as US Vice President JD Vance walked to the podium at the Munich Security Conference. Just 48 hours earlier, the world had felt like a different place. Europeans knew, of course, how difficult things might get with Donald Trump, and that his second US presidency would seriously test the transatlantic relationship. Nonetheless, the phone call between Trump and the Russian leader Vladimir Putin

With the Trump Administration poised to make good on its pledge to remake the federal government, higher education is entering a period of immense uncertainty. From aggressive proposals to tax university endowments and calculated efforts to dismantle DE&I programs on campuses to rumors of a sweeping executive order designed to gut the federal education agency entirely, President Trump and his team have made their intentions clear: they plan to upend the status quo with precision. But while the future remains uncertain, this moment also presents an opportunity to reevaluate and strengthen a system long overdue for reform.

President Donald Trump's border czar Tom Homan on Friday clashed with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., over a webinar she hosted advising migrants about how to handle an encounter with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). "Let’s pray that she is not ‘educating’ the next murderer of a young college nursing student on how to evade arrest by ICE," Homan told Fox News Digital on Friday. "How many more young women have to be raped, murdered and burned alive until she wakes up?"

Vice President J.D. Vance held talks with Alice Weidel, the co-leader of Alternative for Germany (AfD), at the Munich Security Conference after crictizing organizers for not inviting members of her party. Vance made his debut on the international stage by issuing a blistering attack on Europe for 'criminalizing' free speech and ignoring its own 'core democratic values'. He then became the most senior U.S. official to meet with immigration hardliner Weidel, with the Afd heading for their strongest election showing in years when voters heads to the polls in nine days.

There are two wars that President Trump understandably wants to end. The conflict in the Middle East is actually the easier of the two to solve. And who thought anyone would ever be able to say that? In order for that war to end, Trump simply has to put pressure on the main backers of Hamas — Qatar and Iran — and make sure Hamas is isolated and alone. But the war in Ukraine is a much harder one to solve.

America, unfortunately, has long been suffering from a crisis of civics. Put simply, many Americans are woefully ignorant about the structure and features of their government. But every so often, an opportunity emerges to reteach some basics. The media's predictable shrieks and howls of "constitutional crisis" notwithstanding, we are in the throes of a grand separation-of-powers standoff that will both serve as one such edifying civics lesson. First: Enter the energetic executive. In his frenetic opening weeks, President Donald Trump has channeled the spirit of The Federalist No. 70, in which Alexander Hamilton argued that only a unitary executive can govern with "decision, activity, secrecy, and despatch."

Trump has been vocal about opposing the ban on incandescent light bulbs, calling it "ridiculous" and arguing that it restricts consumer choice. The initiative seeks to provide consumers with more options and lessen government-imposed restrictions.
