Democratic senator: ‘DOGE is now at
the IRS’

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said Thursday that Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffers are now examining the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), warning against access to U.S. taxpayer data. Democrats have sounded the alarm over DOGE and its leader, Elon Musk, attempting to overhaul the U.S. Agency for International Development and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and to gain access into the Treasury Department’s payment systems. “My office is hearing that DOGE is now at the IRS. That means Musk’s henchmen are in a position to dig through a trove of data about every taxpayer in America,” Wyden wrote in a Thursday post on the social platform X, which Musk owns.

Senator Wyden, Taxpayers are very worried your 87,000 new IRS agents will be able to dig through a trove of data about every American they choose to audit. It is not becoming of you not to have raised any concern about these issues.

I'd prefer to have Elon Musk looking at my tax returns than Lois Lerner. Of course, it's neither in this case. DOGE doesn't care about individual data points. They are Big Picture guys, using aggregates such as NGOs, "charities", pharma, stock funds, etc. for patterns. After than referrals can-and I pray, will be made- to legal authorities to open criminal cases against rotten-to-the core leeches involved in grifting the taxpayers, and then the prosecution can subpoena tax records..

My Dear MIT Grad Engineer Dad was audited for years, as he worked for Westinghouse, and we also had an 100+ acre dairy farm, where our family [brother, mom and dad and I] got up at 4am every day and 4pm] to milk our 80+ Guernseys whose milk we shipped to a co-op. When he got the audit notice, he graciously asked the IRS person to come to his home office each year, as he kept detailed records. Plus, the person could see all the purple and blue show ribbons on the walls. How we loved ‘our girls’! One was Reserve Champion at the old Chicago Stock Yards’ Dairy Cattle Congress. It was an amazing way to learn responsibility for brother and me! If you’ve kept good records and done nothing wrong, IRS should not be a problem. MAGA

Senator, perhaps you should take the temperature of the country before you chirp; not only is the vast majority happy with Musk's endeavors to date, but no one is listening to the hysteria of you and your party. Rats. I've already sent them what I owe. Don't mind parting with the money as much as filling out the endless and confusing forms--multiply the amount on line 16j minus the amount on line 9y times the sqare root of the number of dogs under your porch. I think with no proof that the IRS makes the forms as difficult as possible to intiminate the taxpayers into using tax preparation services who then make contributions of congress critters who regulate the IRS. In an ideal world one could fill out a tax return by themselves in 10 minutes.

Wall Street’s defense of its DEI initiatives suddenly got a lot more complicated. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, a longtime advocate of diversity and using bank resources to aid minority communities, told employees this past week during a town hall that he "was never a firm believer in bias training" and had questions about money being spent on certain DEI programs. "I saw how we were spending money on some of this stupid *, and it really * me off," Dimon said, according to a recording of the town hall obtained by Yahoo Finance. "I’m just going to cancel them. I don’t like wasted money in bureaucracy." Bloomberg first reported on those comments.

President Donald Trump posted a quote that has been attributed to emperor Napoleon Bonaparte on social media Saturday. "He who saves his country violates no law," Trump wrote, without elaborating on what he was referring to with the post. Trump's post comes amid some rulings from a federal judge limiting the authority of the new Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, to access payment systems in the Treasury Department. DOGE is currently able to access the payment records at the departments of Labor and of Health and Human Services It also comes amid Trump's interest in acquiring Greenland and making Canada the 51st state of the U.S.

TEL AVIV — In a ceremony surrounded by masked Palestinian militants and rubble from the Gaza war, Hamas released three Israeli hostages holding U.S., Russian and Argentinian citizenships on Saturday. It was the sixth group of hostages freed as part of a fragile ceasefire deal that nearly collapsed this week between the Palestinian militant group and Israel. In exchange for the released hostages, Palestinian authorities expect Israel to release 369 Palestinian prisoners and detainees. The three male civilian hostages released are Sagui Dekel-Chen, a 36-year-old dual U.S.-Israeli citizen, Alexander Trupanov, a 29-year-old dual Russian-Israeli citizen, and Yair Horn, a 46-year-old dual Argentinian-Israeli.

Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency can continue to access sensitive records from at least three federal agencies after a federal judge in Washington denied a request to block Musk's budget-slashing team from the Department of Labor, Department of Health and Human Services and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
