When the Soviet Union fell, Ukraine surrendered its nuclear weapons in return for a guarantee to respect its territorial integrity. There were violations by the US and Russia of that agreement, including US political corruption, biolabs and NGO's in Ukraine undermining the country. There are no clean hands on the Ukraine issue.

You can bet that Biden would've given him nukes.

It's a shame that the Ukrainians were stupid enough to trust the USA when we promise to "ensure their territorial integrity" if they gave up the nuclear weapons that they possessed. Trusting the USA, sad to say, is a very, very stupid thing to do.

Trusting the USA is a dicey thing for any country since we have a political system that turns every four years. They could never be sure of any continuance of good things.

Re #6. I worked with many veterinarian and human microbiology research labs in Ukraine, Georgia and Russia. The 'biolabs' that gets tossed around so ignorantly, were funded by DTRA, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. I toured some of the Georgian and Ukrainian research institutes before and after the DTRA money and they originally had $4 hardware store locks on the doors to rooms with upright home type freezers filled with hundreds of biological research samples. And a few of those samples were nasty stuff, smallpox, etc. It was all that they could afford, they couldn't afford to heat the buildings, literally. With DTRA money, modern card swipe security and emergency power generators were added to protect PRE-EXISTING legitimate biological research samples. Nothing new was created, and all we funded was a layer of better security to make it more difficult for terrorists to access pre-existing biological materials. I saw this first hand, and I managed several multiyear projects in these countries. The internet BS about biolabs developing COVID over there are just misinformed. COVID was developed by the ChiComs in their Wuhan bioweapon lab. The projects I worked on were employing former soviet scientists who had worked on WMDs in peaceful, non-military, commercial R&D. If you want some facts, look up Global Initiatives for Proliferation Prevention (GIPP). The implied nefarious 'biolabs' in Ukraine is BS, and just foolishness.

A few things: 1.) Russia is a country run by people with feudal mindsets who view Ukraine as a once-possessed territory that they should possess again; 2.) If you don't understand the difference between Ukrainians and Russians, it's not unlike the difference between Portuguese and Spaniards: Yeah, they speak a similar language, but it isn't the exact same thing... and the cultures are miles apart; 3.) Ukrainians in the military on the front-line are not unlike MAGA Americans: They're patriotic, and they want to see their country survive as a sovereign, independent nation with self-determination. You don't have to like Zelensky or the Kyiv nomenklatura to understand that; 4.) Don't underestimate the Ukrainians' capacity for developing their own nukes if the west abandons them. Ukraine's engineering talent once made up the engineering backbone of the Soviet Union; 5.) Let's not forget that even when FJB was in office, Ukraine never asked for American boots on its grounds; it asked only to be armed to the teeth. Tucker Carlson would you have you believe Ukraine has no chance because Russia outnumbers Ukraine in people 3 to 1. BS! By Carlson's own logic, the nation state of Israel -- outnumbered 15 or 20 to 1 by historically hostile surrounding states -- should also not exist. And yet it does. Russian media reported Carlson got paid for his "interview" with Putin. Nobody should pay attention to that kind of tool
