'There's never a perfect time to leave a place that's been a professional home for so long, but I'm pretty excited about a few new projects,' Todd wrote in a memo sent to fellow staffers on Friday. 'So, I'm grateful for the chance to get a jump start on my next chapter during this important moment,' he went on.

WASHINGTON — Tennessee Valley Authority CEO Jeff Lyash — the highest-paid federal employee with a compensation package of $10.5 million per year — abruptly announced Friday that he was retiring 11 days after the return to office of President Trump, who during his first term slammed Lyash’s “ridiculous” pay and vowed to fire him.
“Sounds like Lyash got DOGE’d,” a senior administration official told The Post, referring to Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency initiative to rein in allegedly wasteful federal spending.
A TVA rep denied that Lyash was departing either in response to or to get ahead of pressure from Trump’s team after six years in the job.

Even then, the allegations were weak sauce, which was mainly grounded in unfounded rumors that he was wasted on the job and committed a sexual assault in 2017. All of which are inaccurate.
Chuck Todd’s days at NBC News are winding down as the former “Meet the Press” moderator is plotting his next steps in journalism once his contract expires later this year, according to a report.
Todd, who was once a central figure in NBC’s political coverage, is quietly mulling his options for life after 30 Rock, according to the Semafor news site.
Todd, 52, has reportedly been meeting with Washington-based media organizations to discuss potential roles outside NBC, including opportunities in broadcast and digital media, Semafor reported.
It's no secret that Steve Bannon, once a top aide to Donald Trump, isn't a fan of the president-elect's newest buddy Elon Musk.
But Bannon took his criticism even further last week, telling an Italian newspaper that he will take the billionaire down before Trump's Inauguration day this month.
The comments were basically a declaration of war against the Tesla, SpaceX and X boss who has strategically placed himself within the innermost circle of the incoming president and the latest in Bannon's attacks on him.

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) has been elected Senate majority leader, setting the stage for him to replace retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who has held the top Senate GOP leadership job for the past 18 years.
Thune has served as Senate Republican whip, the No. 2-ranking position in the Senate GOP leadership, since 2019, and largely managed operation of the Senate floor since McConnell suffered a concussion from a fall in 2023.

On Saturday the US Army released the name of the pilot of the US Army Blackhawk helicopter that flew into a passenger jet landing at Reagan National Airport.
The crash was on Wednesday. The third pilot’s name, Rebecca Lobach, was finally released on Saturday, three days later.
All 64 passengers in the jet were killed.
The three pilots in the Blackhawk helicopter also died in the explosive crash.

CNN reported that “At least six FBI leaders” have been removed or told to resign by Monday.
President Trump fired the head of the FBI Washington Field Office, David Sundberg, canned 20 other heads of offices. As many as 88 FBI officials were marched out of their offices on Friday.
It happens a lot: You’ll hear about a new movie or TV show with a really cool, totally original premise, but alas, the writers and actors fumbled the football in the execution. The first few minutes are promising, but you quickly realize that the script’s premise far exceeded the participants’ talents.
It’s frustrating and annoying.
