President Donald Trump has signed into law the first bill of his second term, and it's the one piece of legislation that Congressional Republicans had targeted to land on his desk as quickly as possible upon his return to the White House: the Laken Riley Act.
In an emotional ceremony in the White House East Room, Trump, joined by Laken's mother, sister and stepfather, signed the bill into law, saying, "We're going to sign this in honor of Laken Riley." Trump called on the bill sponsors, Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) and Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA), to join him at the signing desk.

On Monday, we were treated to the spectacle of someone named Selena Gomez, who evidently is a celebrity of some sort or another, weeping uncontrollably over the Trump administration's and border czar Tom "The Hammer" Homan's efforts to round up and either jail or repatriate illegal aliens that don't belong here. As leftists are wont to do, Miss Gomez was weeping for "the children."
We were also treated to the delightful spectacle of the border czar telling Miss Gomez precisely what she could do with her crocodile tears. Mr. Homan predicted that this would happen, and he was right. [Tweet, video]

Wednesday evening on Fox News' "The Will Cain Show," Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem announced that DHS will be suspending all grants to non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Noem told Cain that DHS had:
stopped all grant funding that is being abused by NGOs to facilitate illegal immigration into this country. So, it's amazing to me the hundreds of millions of dollars that have spent by the federal government, that has been sent to NGOs to facilitate this invasion of our country. So, I've taken action to stop those funds, to reevaluate them,

When a political party loses a major election, post-mortems quickly turn into doubling down, and the Democratic Party has traveled that predictable path in record time since getting gut-punched in November.
For about a week following the election of now-President Donald Trump, there were some rumblings that a course correction might take place. A few Democrats even spoke openly about backing away from transgender ideology and attempting to reconnect with the working class. That was never going to happen, though, and sure enough, the party's members are back to being the lunatics we know all too well.

As we wrote earlier, the Senate Finance Committee held a confirmation hearing for Secretary of Health and Human Services nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Wednesday. (Snip) He had to think that Democratic politicians weren't listening, because he had a similar experience with Sen. Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM), where the senator appeared to be concentrating more on attacking than listening to his answers. But just like with Sanders, that led to an embarrassing place. Lujan asked Kennedy if he was going to cut Medicaid. Trump has repeatedly said he isn't going to cut Medicaid;

The Portland police chief is brazenly defying federal authorities and refusing to cooperate with Donald Trump and Tom Homan’s plan for deporting illegal alien criminals. Sounds as if it’s time for the feds to investigate and perhaps arrest the police chief.
Portland police chief Bob Day issued a community letter on Jan. 28, proudly affirming Portland’s unconstitutional sanctuary city policies, announcing his determination to flout federal law enforcement arresting criminal illegal aliens, and therefore publicizing as much as possible his corruption and illegal activities. Considering that ICE is currently focused on deporting the most dangerous illegal alien criminals, including murderers and child rapists, this begs the question

In 2022, states received $189 billion in funding for primary and secondary schools. The funding was supposed to go to programs that would allow kids to make up for the lost learning they were forced to experience during the pandemic.
Standardized test scores had fallen to levels not seen in forty years or more. The infusion of cash would, as the Biden administration promised, help kids catch up.
The most closely watched standardized test for primary and secondary school children is the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). It's called "The Nation's Report Card" because more students take this test than any other standardized test.

Judging from the first week or so, the Trump doctrine is going to be: We can do it the easy way, or the hard way.
Those are the words the president used in a post on Truth Social last week threatening tariffs on Russia if it didn’t cut a peace deal with Ukraine.
Trump is a president who understands, and has no hesitation in using, the leverage the United States has abroad as the world’s pre-eminent economic and military power, and the leverage he has at home as a newly elected president with a mandate and the strong backing of a fervent political movement.

On Wednesday night The Gateway Pundit heard from Jeremy Brown’s girlfriend.
The Bureau of Prisons moved Jeremy again in the past 24 hours from Kentucky to Florida. [Tweet]
This was reposted from JoeHoft.com
Roger Stone shared this report on J6 political prisoner Jeremy Brown.
Jeremy Brown, a retired US Army Special Forces Master Sergeant, is being denied his freedom due to the decision by rogue federal agents to keep him in prison in direct opposition to President Donald Trump’s blanket pardon of Jan. 6 patriots.
The feds are hoping to exploit a technicality, as their unlawful raids eventually resulted in federal felony charges against Brown in Florida.

It looks like progress is being made in getting more of President Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees through the confirmation process and into their roles of helping the president to overhaul the federal government.
So far, only six of Trump's fifteen Cabinet-level nominees have been confirmed:
Secretary of State: Marco Rubio
Secretary of Defense: Pete Hegseth
Secretary of Homeland Security: Kristi Noem
Director of the Central Intelligence Agency: John Ratcliffe
Secretary of the Treasury: Scott Bessent
Secretary of Transportation: Sean Duffy.
Trump's pick for Attorney General, Pam Bondi, made it one step closer to assuming command of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) after her nomination was approved Wednesday

We have a saying around here, “You can’t hate the media enough,” and the reason it resonates is because every time you think they’ve sunk to a new low, they sink just that much lower. On Tuesday, the fashion magazine Vogue unleashed such a bitter, elitist, nasty critique of First Lady Melania Trump’s official portrait, which was released Monday, that it made your jaw drop. It was a story about a portrait, for Pete's sake.
Many, including our own Becky Noble, thought Melania was stylish and gorgeous and showed “her trademark class and elegance.”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Wednesday that she had rescinded a last-minute order by former DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas extending Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelan "refugees" until October 2026. The cancellation of TPS affects approximately 600,000 Venezuelans living illegally in the United States.
On Tuesday, Kristi Noem, the secretary of homeland security, decided to revoke the 18-month extension of what is known as Temporary Protected Status, which is intended to help people in the United States who cannot return safely and immediately to their country because of a natural disaster or an armed conflict.
