The Global Engagement Center, an office housed within the State Department and aiming to thwart disinformation and misinformation, has been forced by Congress to close up shop. It’s no mystery why; the taxpayer-backed GEC violated its mandate to work only overseas and devolved into a partisan enabler of speech suppression in the United States. Here’s how. Founded in 2016 and technically the product of an Obama-era executive order on counterterrorism, the GEC lapsed in December and lost congressional funding. Barack HUSSEIN Obama isn't having a good month...or shall WE say year....he has been exposed for the traitor he is...and his speeches smell of coverup and anger...he's lost his magic touch...so to speak...and even black men and women don't buy what he's selling...wonder if he'll sell his house in DC after the inaugural address...he's not much help to the swamp now...because the swamp is being dismantled piece by piece....

New York county’s land grab could reopen

Bryan Bowers and his business partner Mike Licata planned to build medical office space across from a new hospital in downtown Utica, New York. The Oneida County Industrial Development Agency nixed that plan by agreeing to take the property so a competing business next door could use it for a parking lot — a land grab that a state appeals court approved last February. The US Supreme Court invited such abuses with its 2005 ruling in Kelo v. City of New London, which blessed the use of eminent domain to promote economic development by transferring property from one private owner to another. Bowers’ case offers the justices another chance to revisit

The National Archives has finally released photos showing then-Vice President Biden meeting with two of first son Hunter Biden’s Chinese government-linked business partners — again proving that the president lied about not interacting with his family’s foreign patrons. The cache of photos, released long after their potential political salience and days before Biden retires on Jan. 20, also show Chinese President Xi Jinping grinning as then-Vice President Biden introduced his son during the same December 2013 trip to Beijing. The Xi-Hunter Biden encounter, which had not previously garnered much attention, appears to have been at a meal Hunter described in an email to his former associate Devon Archer

CNN's stubbornly leftist journalists think they know why their viewers are abandoning ship in record numbers - they're not going hard enough against Donald Trump anymore. That is the suggestion from reporters who spoke anonymously to The Washington Post this week as the network recovered from some of its lowest ratings ever. Insiders claim a decision to hold a town hall with the president-elect back in May 2023 upset staff and viewers, as did the decision not to fact check Trump during his debate earlier this year. 'It is widely felt at CNN that we didn't meet the mark,' one CNN journalist, who requested to remain anonymous,

A California teen and her mom claim they were attacked in a crowded mall parking lot and robbed of $3,000 as they clashed with another group over a parking spot amid the holiday shopping rush. The dispute happened when Natalie Martinez, 19, and her mother, Patricia Cupa went to the Citadel Outlets in Commerce, Ca. to return a sweater at one of the stores on Wednesday, according to KTLA. The duo had made it to the packed shopping center just after 5 p.m. and had trouble finding a parking spot, forcing them to drive around the lot before the teen eventually found an open space.

House Republicans are currently debating a continuing resolution that would keep the government running through March 14, however many are heavily criticizing leadership for trying to push through unnecessary provisions negotiated behind closed doors. The over 1,500-page spending measure will receive votes from both Democrats and Republicans and is being pushed by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. Johnson said in September that he has “no intention of going back” to the “terrible tradition” of a Christmas omnibus.[snip] Here are some of the provisions drawing the biggest blowback from conservatives, many of which were identified on X by users like Small Gov Lizard:

After months of debating, the board unanimously agreed on a resolution that Idaho institutions cannot “require specific structures or activities related to DEI.” In summary, institutions “shall establish and maintain equality of opportunity for all students regardless of personal identity characteristics,” “ensure that no central offices, policies, procedures, or initiatives are dedicated to DEI ideology” and “ensure that no employee or student is required to declare gender identity or preferred pronouns.”

Floridians will no longer be able to access the most popular porn site next year due to a row about age verification laws. Pornhub will geo-block people in the sunshine state from accessing its website from January 1, like it has done for a dozen other states. The move is a response to a new bill in Florida that requires adult websites to verify the age of people who use their sites, by using government-issued IDs or similar documentation. Pornhub said it does not want minors accessing its site, but believes the law puts 'everybody's privacy at risk.'

There has been a development in the Ukraine war - that is, if you trust the source: North Korean troops have been killed fighting Ukrainian forces in Russia's Kursk border region, the US has said. These would be the first reported casualties since it emerged in October that North Korea had sent around 10,000 troops to reinforce Russia's war effort. Ukraine's military intelligence agency, the GUR, has also said at least 30 North Korean troops had been killed or wounded in fighting over the weekend.[snip] Independently verifying US claims is a tricky business, at least for the next month or so.

CNN is in quite a bit of hot water after a desperate attempt to go viral went horribly wrong in Syria. It all started when the left-wing network's Chief International Correspondent Clarissa Ward produced a story about how she and others supposedly released a man from a prison formerly controlled by Bashar al-Assad. CNN immediately published the video of the ordeal, bragging about how their cameras "caught the moment" he was "freed." Ward then went to social media to garner clicks, calling it "one of the most extraordinary moments" she had ever witnessed.

According to Tom Fitton, General Milley met with Merrick Garland and pressured him to target domestic threats and alleged far-right militia groups. They discussed Donald Trump. Milley wanted Donald Trump and his supporters, his fellow Americans, targeted. This is an entirely unprecedented meeting and request. What he calls far-right militia ended up being parents, Christians, and Trump supporters in general. Milley and Garland had no concern about communist-anarchist groups of Antifa and Soros-funded Black Lives Matter. We have the military conspiring with the DoJ. As desperate, phony, and even dangerous of a campaign Democrats ran this year, and as embarrassing as the outcome was for all of them, nobody came out looking more pathetic than Barack Obama. From 2024’s vantage point, is there any way to look at his legacy but as a tragic blight on American history? In the final months of the campaign, Obama seemed to know the outcome of the election would say just as much about him as it would about Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, or Donald Trump. And, like all realistic Democrats, he knew that the nominee he supported was on track to lose.

Climate alarmists like President Joe Biden assure us that all we need do to avert the destruction of hurricanes—or at least to lessen it—is to sacrifice offerings to the climate gods by giving up our gas-guzzling internal combustion engines and paying indulgences to Al Gore or something. You see, humans as a species have sinned, and we must sacrifice our prosperity to prevent the end of the world. Unfortunately for the alarmists, the world stubbornly refuses to end, and even the supposed evidence they trot out as proof of impending doom doesn’t exactly mean what they think it means.
