If we knew then what we’re learning now about its dangers to health, perhaps the 24 states which have legalized recreational marijuana would not have rushed to do so. What was historically sold to users as harmless and even healthful turns out to be associated with conditions such as Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome (uncontrollable vomiting), marijuana use disorder (aka addiction leading to “negative impact on life and health”); and even the onset of schizophrenia, especially among young men. Thomas McLellan, deputy “drug czar” in the Obama Administration, notes that “the great majority of the cannabis related problems affect those 12-25, which means the problems will have longer duration.”

Pot 100% can cause schizophrenia to occur in young men. I saw it happen in a friend. It is lifelong damage. Why risk spending the rest of your life in a nursing home?

Would, could, should. Legalization of pot was a financial decision and they did not care what a harmful drug it is. Colorado experienced a huge increase in traffic accidents and the creation of even more mushheads across the population. That is true of most of the drugs out there, where a certain percentage of death and side effects are acceptable.

I started to smoke for real when I turned 18. Mom hated that I did; Dad tolerated it but said he hoped it wouldn't lead to marijuana. There is not enough money left in the US Treasury to cause me to light up another cigarette. At 18, every teen thinks their every idea is a pearl of great price. Just put all that manure on your roses!

Pot is a very bad thing, and legalizing it harms people and harms society in many ways.

The biggest problem I see is that the legalization effort created the subliminal message to young people that usage was not all that harmful

#7. Yes, alcohol is harmful. But you don't drink to get drunk. You smoke to get high.

What about it ? Alcohol was banned from 1920 to 1933. Just long enough for organized crime to get a real good hold on and control of not only alcohol but prostitution, gambling, illegal drugs, on and on. Don't go down the path of 'alcohol is 'bad' and legal so why no legalize pot ?'. That path leads. literally, to the dark side. If you follow the chain of legalizing something because something else is already legal' you will soon find yourself calling for 'legalized murder'. It's not a slippery slope, it's a cliff !!

Alcohol vs pot. You can have one drink and not be impaired, Have 2, or 3, then 4, and you become more intoxicated with each successive drink. Smoke a joint or bowl, and you ARE immediately impaired. And it will take hours for you to "come down." Big difference .

# 9 - and getting high makes you sleepy and hungry. You hurt no one but yourself. Alcoholics can sometimes get ugly or dangerous. The harm they do to their family is immeasurable. If they choose to drive, they can kill. I think more harm is done with alcohol than pot.

Donald Trump hasn't taken office yet, and yet, he's already making strides toward freedom for the hostages that Joe Biden has failed to secure in over a year. Earlier this month, President-elect Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Hamas, declaring there would be “ALL HELL TO PAY” if the terrorist organization fails to release the remaining 100 hostages in Gaza (some are American citizens)."Everybody is talking about the hostages who are being held so violently, inhumanely, and against the will of the entire World, in the Middle East - But it’s all talk, and no action!" he said in a post on Truth Social.

Mexico has not played fair. It had already violated the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement on trade by allowing China to use it as a back door for its exports. The new Mexican government is also weakening the legal framework of the country and undermining its own institutions. And now, in the field of labor, Mexico is violating the agreement once again by receiving 199 Cuban doctors this month in a modern slavery scheme. The USMCA is clear about its commitment to the protection of labor rights. Its preamble establishes the decision to “promote the protection and enforcement of labor rights,

This is too funny. For President Trump at Notre Dame, it’s an ordinary walk to his seat, except something happened. It starts out with Poland’s President Andrzej Duda standing up to greet President Donald Trump. They are friends, and Duda is one of the EU heads of state that is seriously thrilled to see President Trump return (Hungary’s Orban is another). However, after Duda stands things get funny because all the other dignitaries then feel obligated to stand and greet President Trump. President Trump ended up turning his simple walk to his seat, into a reception line of foreign dignitaries who stood at attention to greet him.

The 2024 election marked the worst performance for a Democratic presidential candidate in the Empire State in over 30 years, with Kamala Harris underperforming Joe Biden by about 10 points. The full extent of this dramatic failure cannot be explained by Harris’ dismal campaign performance alone. Rather, the election highlighted a movement to the right in New York so decisive that Democratic leaders like her must rethink their position. After all, this election followed a tight race for governor two years ago where the Democrat, Gov. Hochul, did worse than any other Dem since 2002. Yet Hochul continues to operate as though the state is immune to a rightward slide,

A leftist-dominated educational establishment and its media enablers fear that Donald Trump will make good on his vow to defund educational institutions that embrace DEI and tolerate antisemitism. That is why Trump's scorched-earth approach is so necessary, even as it is being denounced by the same people who are responsible for creating or perpetuating the current mess as too extreme or even needed at all. More to the point, it will mean that policing antisemitism on campus will be shifted away from the ineffectual Title VI complaints overseen federal education bureaucrats,

If one read only the legacy press and listened to Democrats, one would think that president-elect Donald Trump has just nominated a Kremlin stooge to oversee America’s intelligence community. Trump’s choice to be his director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman, has been tarred as “likely a Russian asset” by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL). The New York Times last week devoted a feature-length story to how Gabbard has become a “favorite of Russia’s state media.” Hillary Clinton once claimed Moscow was “grooming” her to run for president. Former congressman Adam Kinzinger, writing in The Bulwark, called her “outright disloyal.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised President-elect Donald Trump that Canada would toughen controls over the long undefended joint border, a senior Canadian official said on Sunday. Trudeau flew to Florida on Friday to have dinner with Trump, who has promised to slap tariffs on Canadian imports unless Ottawa prevents migrants and drugs from crossing the frontier. Canada sends 75% of all goods and services exports to the United States and tariffs would badly hurt the economy. Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, who sat at the head table with Trudeau and Trump, said the two men discussed additional security measures Canada would be introducing.

Pope Francis unveiled the annual nativity scene at the Vatican over the weekend - raising some eyebrows in the process. A noticeable addition this year saw the seminal scene's baby Jesus draped in a keffiyeh - a traditional scarf used by Palestinians as a national symbol. Jesus was born into a Jewish family in Bethlehem some 2,000 years ago - and his death triggered the birth of Christianity. A statement from the wheelchair-bound pontiff, moreover, saw him humbly ask onlookers for peace in the Middle East, weeks after he called for an investigation into what he said may be a 'genocide' occurring in the Gaza Strip.

President Joe Biden delivered a short address from the White House on Sunday, claiming credit for the toppling of the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar Assad, who was ousted by rebels after a long and brutal reign lasting decades. Biden claimed that a combination of U.S. policies — isolating Assad; tying Russia down in Ukraine; and allowing Israel freedom of action against Iran and its Hezbollah proxy — weakened the regime and left it without defenders. Biden said: Over the past four years, my administration pursued a clear, principled policy towards Syria. First, we made clear from the start that sanctions on Assad would remain in place unless

The study, published Wednesday in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, looked at its lasting impact in the U.S. by analyzing childhood blood lead levels from 1940 to 2015. According to the findings, the national population experienced an estimated 151 million excess mental health disorders attributable to exposure to lead from car exhaust during children’s early development.
