President-elect Donald Trump announced Thursday that he will nominate Doug Burgum to be secretary of the Department of the Interior.
“He’s going to head the Department of Interior and he’s going to be fantastic,” Trump said of the North Dakota governor. Trump, 78, indicated that he will make a “formal announcement” regarding Burgum on Friday.

The Pentagon has released a new report on UFOs that revealed hundreds of documented incidents of unidentified and unexplained aerial phenomena (UAPs).

A critical demographic for network news channels are those aged 25 to 54, and on Tuesday - a week after the 2024 presidential election - CNN averaged 61,000 viewers in that range.
It was the smallest of audience viewers in that demographic since June 27, 2000, when Bill Clinton was in the White House.

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) has been elected Senate majority leader, setting the stage for him to replace retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who has held the top Senate GOP leadership job for the past 18 years.
Thune has served as Senate Republican whip, the No. 2-ranking position in the Senate GOP leadership, since 2019, and largely managed operation of the Senate floor since McConnell suffered a concussion from a fall in 2023.
Thune beat Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) by a vote of 25 to 24, according to two sources familiar.
