Mountain Middle School in Durango, Colorado, banned cellphones from classrooms a dozen years ago. Principal and executive director Shane Voss recalled at the time the constant stream of text messages and snapping of photos were too much to tolerate. “It was already a massive distraction before that, in 2010,” he told The Epoch Times. “All of the sudden, everyone’s got a camera in their pocket.” (snip)“The kids were actually yearning for this,” Voss said, adding that students in recent years told him that they enjoy the morning and afternoons without having to check their messages or read updates on the people, teams, or events they follow on social media.

Pro: Students might be able to read and do math again, rather than be 39th in world rankings. Con: Radical indoctrination by leftist teachers won't be caught on camera.

I dont like bans of anything. Common courtesy should be taught at home and the stupid electronic leashes should be automatically turned off in schools, in theaters and anyplace else where attention should be paid to real people. I dont even own one. Nothing is so important that I have to know it right this instant. The government can track me and listen into my life some other way.

Backing away from the cellphone insanity. Great news. They are destructive to young minds. And they seriously interfere with teaching.

What about students that need their phones to keep track of a medical condition such as diabetes???? How about when a shooter enters the school and kids don't have phones and can't call for help??? I don't like that kids use their phone for everything, but there are good uses for phones as well.

About time. Anyone in the school can call the cops if necessary. We don't need hundreds watching their phones instead of taking direction from (presumably) smart staff

Yep, better learning and much better self-esteem. And better yet, nothing from the outside to pollute a young and impressionable mind during school hours.

The practice carries through to the work place. I once hired a young man who spent most of his first two weeks on the phone with his wife. He didn't last long.

Stay away from the sketchy story around “Vem Miller” (DOB 10-26-74), and everything that surrounds the story of the possible 3rd assassination attempt. Everything about this story is sketchy in the extreme, including his defenses. Multiple, at least 3, passports. Multiple, at least 3, ids. Fake tags on vehicle. Unregistered vehicle. Firearms (shotgun and handgun). Claimed fake credentials for Trump rally. A personal and familial connection to USA, Armenia, Great Britian (UK) and Canada. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco outlines the commonsense approach to viewing people as “sketchy.”

Bill Ackman: “A number of my good friends and family have been surprised about my decision to support Donald Trump for president. They have been surprised because my political giving history has been mostly to Democrats, my voting registration has typically been Democrat (in NY, you must be registered to the party in order to vote in the primary, and usually the Republican candidate has no chance to win), and many of our philanthropic initiatives have supported issues that are consistent with Democratic priorities.

After watching Vice President Kamala Harris’s incredible slog of a town hall-style interview Thursday on Univision, there’s absolutely no way her support among Latino U.S. voters is going to do anything but bottom out. That was the most excruciating hour-long campaign session I can recall and it’s not even close. The peak of the event was when she hollered at a non-English speaker who asked an innocuous question about the Democrat primary process, which Kamala skipped over before being hoisted up as the party nominee. That guy was named Mario and he identified himself as a 70-year-old from Uruguay.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff did not deny allegations he slapped his ex-girlfriend during a soon-to-be-released MSNBC interview. The moment came on Friday when the network shared a snippet of the second gentleman’s sit-down interview with “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough. The interview is expected to air on Monday. As The Federalist’s Tristan Justice previously noted, three friends of the alleged victim claimed to the Daily Mail that Emhoff “struck the woman named under the pseudonym ‘Jane’ following a glitzy night out at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in France.”

With just a few weeks to Election Day and early voting already underway in several states, it’s peak time for the “ground game” that campaigns have spent months preparing. Back in May, on-the-ground Republican operatives voiced concerns to The Federalist that the Republican National Committee’s operations weren’t keeping pace with grassroots in swing states. Now, as Election Day nears, a narrative has emerged in the corporate media about the Trump campaign’s “paltry” ground game. Despite the grousing by some in the GOP, outside groups, including political action committees like the Sentinel Action Fund, are working to match Democrats at their own game.

Writing on behalf of the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge Amul Thapar granted an emergency request by Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose and Attorney General David Yost to place a stay on an August district court injunction that prevented the law from being enacted. The district judge overseeing the case argued the statute’s definition of “foreign nationals” is “likely unconstitutional,” adding these individuals “have political speech rights” covered by the First Amendment.

In less than three minutes, he cast a vision for completely transforming child protective systems nationwide. Family rejection of a child’s gender identity cannot be dismissed as a personal view, he argued. Non-affirmation must be treated as abuse. “If they were denying them food or denying them access to school or denying other things, there would be headlines,” Roque continued. “There would be prosecution.”
