Brett Favre announced on Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The Hall of Famer delivered the news at his congressional hearing on federal welfare reform. "Sadly, I also lost an investment in a company that I believed was developing a breakthrough concussion drug I thought would help others," the 54-year-old said. "I’m sure you’ll understand, while it’s too late for me because I’ve recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, this is also a cause dear to my heart." Favre recently said he believes he suffered "thousands" of concussions during his playing career. Back in 2021, he encouraged parents to keep their children away from tackle football

This is my perception. Although there were injuries 30-40 yrs ago, and diagnostics are now more in depth and informative than ever before, it seems football changed when the money skyrocketed. And boyz (thugs) from the hoood were given untold wealth and riches. Mainly, young men from “street backgrounds” brought the same mentality to football. If I had a son, no football or soccer. It’s not worth your health.

My father played football in the early fifties. His teammates Forest Gregg and Herschel Forester as well as my father all developed Parkinson's All played both ways then and all were offensive linemen) This has been happening for decades. Parkinson's is a devastating disease. It is hard on both the victim and their love ones. Wish Brett and all victims the best.

He mentioned a few years ago that he kept forgetting his grandkids' names and knew then there was a problem. Like many afflictions, some are more susceptible than others which explains why some footballers never seem to develop symptoms.

I'm not taking anything away from Bret, but if he had thousands of concussions, the down line men had to have had at least tens of thousands, each. Junior Sauer was a fearsome middle linebacker. He didn't live long after he retired, and there wasn't much left of his bran.

Former President Trump was briefed Tuesday about "real and specific" Iranian threats to assassinate him. "President Trump was briefed earlier today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence regarding real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States," spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement. “Intelligence officials have identified that these continued and coordinated attacks have heightened in the past few months, and law enforcement officials across all agencies are working to ensure President Trump is protected and the election is free from interference."

Republicans on the House Oversight Committee launched an investigation on Wednesday to determine if the Biden administration misused taxpayer dollars to fly Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the U.S. to benefit Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. In letters to top Biden administration officials, committee chairman James Comer wrote that then-president Donald Trump faced similar accusations from Democrats in 2019 of trying to use Zelensky to benefit his campaign “despite a lack of any evidence of wrongdoing.” “Now, the Biden-Harris Administration is flying the same foreign leader on an American-taxpayer-funded flight to Pennsylvania,

Brian Lozenski, an associate professor of urban and multicultural education at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minn., was appointed by Governor Tim Walz’s state education department to help write the statewide “implementation framework” (similar to a curriculum) for Minnesota’s new “ethnic studies” standards. It now emerges that Lozenski has called for the “overthrow” of the United States. Lozenski is no outlier. On the contrary, he has been the leading voice advocating the addition of a radical version of “ethnic studies” to Minnesota’s social-studies standards (citizenship and government, economics, geography, history, and now ethnic studies).

Volodymyr Zelensky(y?) had a right to comment about Donald Trump and J.D. Vance during his visit to a Pennsylvania arms factory. It was stupid for him to criticize the next President of the United States, but if he wanted to do that, it was his right. But I do have a serious problem with the United States military flying him there to do so, and I wonder if that counts as illegal election interference on the part of our Department of Defense. I think Mollie Hemingway has a point when she says that Biden should be impeached for doing this.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee narrowly voted 26–25 to recommend Antony Blinken be held in contempt of Congress following the diplomat’s failure to appear for Tuesday’s hearing. “Secretary Blinken’s refusal to comply with the Committee’s subpoena — despite months of notice and offers of accommodations — warrants contempt,” the resolution read. The Republican-led committee has long sought to host the secretary of state as it investigates the botched U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan over three years ago that left 13 U.S. service members dead.

Vice President Kamala Harris said Tuesday that she supports eliminating the Senate filibuster if that’s what it takes to secure abortion rights nationwide by codifying Roe v. Wade. Seeking to distinguish herself from former president Donald Trump on the abortion issue, Harris has been adamant about signing a bill enshrining women’s access to abortion into federal law. But under the existing filibuster rule, passing such a bill would require 60 votes in the Senate — an all but impossible hurdle to clear given the current composition of the upper chamber and the partisan divide amongst voters on the issue of abortion.

The source was a supposed news outlet named "The Keystone Newsroom." What the Harris campaign was trying to do was clear. Local news outlets are typically more trusted than national outlets by the residents of a given state. By pushing a headline bragging about a major endorsement from "The Keystone Newsroom," an air of credibility is given to the claim.

The Israeli offensive, officially named Operation Northern Arrows, appears to have two separate tactics. On the one hand, Israel is carrying out targeted strikes on Hezbollah leaders and officials, including last week’s pager attacks.

"Zero Dark Thirty" was a pretty solid movie. I liked it because the producers and director didn’t sugarcoat the way that CIA operatives treated terrorists. Terrorists deserved their fate. The composite protagonist “Maya” was a CIA analyst who worked tirelessly to bring justice down on Osama Bin Laden — AKA a bullet to the brain. After Maya had fingered where Bin Laden was, she met with Leon Panetta, the then-head of the CIA. Panetta was portrayed by James Gandolfini. I don’t object to artistic license when actors portray real people, but Gandolfini was a big man: 6’1” and intimidating. He looked intimidating just standing still. Panetta,
